2012
by Rick Joyner
T his is the year that many predicted would be the end of the world. Adding fuel to this fire
are such things as the Mayan calendar ending with 2012. In a way this year will be the end
of this world, as we know it.
2012 will be one of the extraordinary years of our lifetime, and maybe even of all time.
This does not have to be a bad thing. The world is no doubt facing unprecedented crises
on many fronts, and many are beyond human remedy. Even so, this can be the greatest year of
our lifetime—a reset. This year can be a Jubilee that allows us to return to the foundations of
righteousness and justice that elevated civilization as we know it.
About the Mayan calendar and other indicators that end with 2012, the Apostle Paul
acknowledged that even the Cretan prophets were right about some things (see Titus 1:12).
When various sources start to see the same thing, there is often something to it. However, 2012
will not be the end of the world, but it will be a demarcation point. Form this time on, every
nation and every person will either turn to righteousness and become more righteous, or turn
to wickedness and become more wicked. From this point on, the distinction between light and
darkness will become increasingly pronounced.
We are entering the times that the prophets and righteous of old desired to see. This is the
ultimate battle between good and evil, and there can be no more sitting on the fence. Though it
may be the most intense and challenging year of our lifetime, it will also mark the beginning of
the greatest move of God ever to come upon the earth. We are coming to the end of an age, and
the end of this age is marked by the greatest harvest the world will ever see.
In 1987, I was given a two-and-a-half day prophetic experience in which I was shown a
panoramic view of coming events. I wrote about these in the book, The Harvest. Many of the
things I was shown have now come to pass, and others are unfolding at this time—the greatest
of all has not yet happened, but it is close.
I was shown two great waves of revival that would sweep the earth. The first one was great, but
it was for bringing in those who would be laborers for the greatest move of God of all time that
would follow. That first wave began shortly after I had the vision, and it was all that I had been
shown. Then I saw a time of relative spiritual quiet before the greatest move of God of all time
would begin. We are near the end of this time of relative spiritual quiet, and this great spiritual
tsunami that will sweep across the entire earth will soon be upon us.
The most important thing we can do right now is not to find a safe place for our assets, but
to get ready for this coming move of God. Of course, we should want to be good stewards with
the resources we’ve been entrusted with, but if that is the dominant concern we have, then we
are out of touch with a far greater reality that really determines who we are worshiping. Those
who worship their possessions more than God are about to sink in the quicksand of these times.
Those who are true worshipers of God will begin to know Him, walk with Him, and be used by
Him more than they ever expected. This is the greatest treasure one can have on this earth.

No Retreat
Before a tsunami hits the coast, the water starts to recede from the coastline. This is also how
it will be just before this great spiritual wave comes upon the world—it will seem like Christianity
is in its biggest retreat in history. Some will even think that Christianity has been defeated and is
being removed from the earth. They could not be more wrong. It may be at one of our lowest
points when the great wave will appear. As it gets closer, it will rise higher. Then it will sweep
everything and everyone away who are not prepared for it.
This is a spiritual tsunami warning. We must get ready. We must get to the spiritual high ground
and get ready to save every soul we can. Multitudes will be coming into the kingdom, and we
must mobilize for it now.
Just as tsunamis are the result of earthquakes, the great tsunamis of the coming harvest will
be the result of the spiritual and cultural fault lines of the entire world shifting. We will see
great upheavals, but with them we must learn to look for the move of God that will be bringing
multitudes into the kingdom.
The earth is groaning and travailing as it yearns for the sons and daughters of the King to be
revealed. There will be natural earthquakes and tsunamis that reflect what is happening in the
Spirit. Getting ready for the times in the natural is important, but it is even more important that
we get prepared for them spiritually. We can apply the way that we would get ready for them in
the natural for how we should get ready spiritually.
For example, if we knew a great earthquake was coming and we would be without power
for a long time, we would prepare by storing food, water, needed medicines, necessary clothing
to keep warm, etc. We also need to consider how to get ready with spiritual food and water. We
should also be storing Bibles, Bible studies, books, and other resources. Along with feeding our
bodies, we have to resolve that it is just as important to feed our souls. We must also consider
our neighbors.
As we learned at our Hurricane Katrina relief base, when the power is out and there is no TV,
people will read, and the multitude of new believers will be starving for spiritual food. They will
be hungry for answers, for hope, and for faith. Those who have the peace and joy of the kingdom
will be great lights who will attract great multitudes in the confusion that is coming.
The Ingathering
In 1987, I was shown that when this wave hit churches of one hundred people, they would be
adding one thousand people a week. We may think that if this is true of the small churches, the
mega churches will be adding tens of thousands a week, but that will not be the case. The large
churches were growing some, but not like the small ones. This was because the small churches
were more prepared for what is coming since they had been building their people while the big
churches had been building programs.
One of the main focuses of the coming harvest will be home groups. The Lord has been
preparing a half-million home group leaders in just the U.S. who can lead people to the Lord,
baptizing them, getting them healed, delivered, and established in sound doctrine. These home
groups were the main equippers and laborers in the harvest.
Large churches will have a place, many becoming centers for “the apostles’ teachings.” They
will be storehouses of spiritual resources and mission bases. However, the focal point of the
2 • The Morning STar E-Journal
ingathering will be small groups and small churches. This is why many have been hearing, “small
is the next big.”
Many who have sat in churches for years absorbing the word of God, but may not have done
much in the past, yet were sincerely seeking to understand and walk in His ways, will begin to
teach and pastor large numbers of new believers. Many, who in the past may have been shy about
witnessing, will become powerful evangelists.
The harvest is the maturing of what has been sown. Just as a single seed can grow into a plant
that produces thousands of seeds, the harvest at the end of the age will see the maturing of all
the spiritual seeds that have been sown by the great men and women of God throughout the
ages. There will not just be one like John the Baptist, but thousands. There will be thousands
like Luther, Wycliff, Zwingli, Wesley, Whitefield, Zinzendorf, Hudson Taylor, William Carey, and
Seymour, as well as the great social prophets like Stowe, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Martin Luther
King, Jr., Solzhenitsyn, and all who had visions of the coming kingdom of God. Now all of the
seeds they have sown will be coming to maturity.
Transformation
Romans 12:2 exhorts believers, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which
is good and acceptable and perfect.” The Greek word translated “transformed” in this text
is the word metamorfos that we derive the English word metamorphosis. This is the process a
caterpillar goes through to be changed into a butterfly. Even though until now few Christians
have heeded Paul’s exhortation, but rather have been more conformed to this world, this is going
to change. A great transformation is coming. The church is going to quit being a worm that has
to crawl upon the earth and be conformed to the contours of the earth. The church will become
the beautiful creature she is called to be with wings that can soar high above the earth.
I have only had glimpses of what the church will be like in the coming times, and we all “see
in part and know in part” (see I Corinthians 13:2). Even so, what I have seen is revolutionary. The
church will become a nation within the nations, with a government, economy, even those who
function like foreign ministers and ambassadors representing the body of Christ before earthly
governments. At the same time, they will be a community, or a people in “common-unity” like
the world has never seen before.
Even so, far more than the community or the extraordinary power that the Lord manifests
through His people, will be the manifest presence of the Lord among His people. We have
experienced hints of this when delivery people have come into our buildings and were astonished
at the presence they felt. We can multiply this in the times to come. The best part of all will
be how close the Lord is going to be to His people. This is what we were created for, and no
other endeavor or accomplishment on this earth can compare with simply being in the manifest
presence of the Lord.
These truly are the most wonderful days there have ever been to be alive and to walk with
God. The awe and wonder is going to rise steadily. There will be difficulties, but for those who
are serving the Lord and seeking first His kingdom, these will hardly be noticed because of the
joy in all that the Lord is doing in our midst.
When I first read in Isaiah 6 about the cherubim who stood day and night before the throne
saying, “Holy, holy, holy! The whole earth is filled with His glory” (see Isaiah 6:3), I wondered
The Morning Star E-Journal • 3
how they could say that the world was filled with His glory with all of the wars, disease, child
abuse, poverty, and hunger. Then I heard the Lord say, “They could say this because they dwelt in
My presence. When you dwell in My presence, you will see My glory in everything.” In the world
there will be tribulation, but for those who are abiding in the Lord they will be seeing His glory.
It is not that we do not have compassion for the suffering of this earth, especially as we go
into the great times of trouble ahead, but when we are abiding in His presence we will see His
ultimate victory in everything. We will be able to reach out to those in the present troubles from
a position that cannot be shaken. This is the peace and the joy of the kingdom that is built upon
His righteousness—doing what is right in His sight.
To make it through the times to come, we will have to stay close to Him and abide in Him.
The good thing is that this is not just what we have to do but what we get to do. The key to
overcoming all things is to seek His kingdom first in everything that we do.
“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow
is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or
‘What will we wear for clothing?’
“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows
that you need all these things.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be
added to you.
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day
has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:30-35).
For those who are true disciples, who live the life of a disciple as He described it, in all things
seeking His purposes first and seeking to do His will, 2012 will be our best year yet. It is not the
end—it is a great new beginning. Regardless of how far we have drifted from Him and the true
life of discipleship, we can come home now and He will receive us with great joy and celebration.

After America, There Is No Place to Go
by Kitty Werthmann
W hat I am about to tell you is something you’ve probably never heard or will ever read in
history books. I believe that I am an eyewitness to history.
I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We
elected him by a landslide—98 percent of the vote. I’ve never read that in any American pub-
lications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force. In
1938, Austria was in a deep depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We
had 25 percent inflation and 25 percent bank loan interest rates.
Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going
from house to house begging for food—not that they didn’t want to work—there simply weren’t
any jobs. My mother was a Christian and believed in helping people in need. Every day we
cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people, about thirty
daily. The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks
and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate
and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted. We
looked to our neighbor to the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We
had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of
living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group—Jewish or otherwise. We were
led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were
promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family.
Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back.
Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for
our ruler.
We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades.
The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed. After the election,
German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or
four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was
created through the Public Work Service. Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women.
Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An
able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn’t support his family. Many women
in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been
required to give up for marriage.
Hitler Targets Education—Eliminates Religious Instruction
for Children
Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was
predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March
13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler’s picture hanging
The Morning Star E-Journal • 5
next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn’t
pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang “Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles,” and
had physical education. Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents
were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not
send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would
be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two
hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went
along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go
home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.
My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public
school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn’t do that, and she told me that someday
when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun—no
sports and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once
in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was
going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived
without religion. By that time, unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It
seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what
a great deed my mother did so that I wasn’t exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.
Equal Rights Hits Home
In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and
could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was
passed, which meant if you didn’t work, you didn’t get a ration card, and if you didn’t have
a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn’t have any
marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men. Soon after this, the draft
was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to
the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to
their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gun-
ners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but
were used in the frontlines. When I would go back to Austria to visit my family and friends,
most of these women were emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle
the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid
attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and
into military service.
Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare
When the mothers had to go out into the workforce, the government immediately estab-
lished child care centers. You could take your children ages four weeks to school age and leave
them there around-the-clock, seven days a week, under the total care of the government. The
state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of
the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about
equal rights. We knew we had been had.

Health Care and Small Business Suffer Under Government
Controls
Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the
University of Vienna. After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were
salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the
doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., forty people were
already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you
had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research since it was poured
into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors
left Austria and emigrated to other countries. As for health care, our tax rates went up to 80
percent of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to
establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free.
High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone
was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing. We had another
agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square
tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people
might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom
facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands.
Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many
small ones existed, it could be in control. We had consumer protection. We were told how to
shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency
specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the livestock, then tell
the farmers what to produce and how to produce it.
“Mercy Killing” Redefined
In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps. The villagers were sur-
rounded by mountain passes, which in the winter were closed off with snow, causing people
to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived,
I was told there were fifteen mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good
manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day
I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior
where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would
teach them a trade and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little
clause that they could not visit for six months. They were told visits would interfere with the
program and might cause homesickness. As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying
these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what
was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within six months.
We called this euthanasia.
The Final Steps—Gun Laws
Next came the gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the
real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most
The Morning Star E-Journal • 7
citizens were law-abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms.
Not long afterward, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The
authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily. No more
freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We
knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke
up. Totalitarianism didn’t come quickly—it took five years from 1938 until 1943 to realize full
dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the
last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles.
The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little-by-little, eroded our freedom.
After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria. Women were raped, preteen to elderly.
The press never wrote about this either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything
that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards
of fruit, and what they couldn’t destroy, they burned. We called it The Burned Earth. Most of
the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for six weeks
as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn’t paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna
today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians. This is an eyewitness
account. It’s true . . . those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of
unbelievable freedom and opportunity.
America is the greatest country in the world. Our freedom is now almost gone.
The liberals are destroying every American institution; they hate America to the core.
After America is destroyed, there is no place to go.
When the people fear their government there is tyranny. When the government fears
the people there is liberty. ~ThomasJefferson

Watchman on the Walls
by Mary Anne Hardiman
Man will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants. ~Benjamin Franklin
T he results of the First Great Awakening in America were phenomenal. One hundred fifty new
congregational churches began over the twenty years of revival, and in a two year period,
30,000 new believers were added to the church. Nine university colleges were also established
in the colonies. http://www.revival-library.org/catalogues/1725ff/index1725.html
Subsequently, the First Great Awakening brought about an awareness of scriptural truths—that
all men are brothers in Christ. Itinerant ministers traveled throughout the colonies preaching
repentance and a personal relationship with God. Regardless of vocation or wealth, all were
equal in the eyes of God. This equality was emphasized in the pulpits from New England to
Georgia. God was no respecter of persons. His laws applied equally to all men. Freedom from
tyranny was also a favorite theme, but civil disobedience had been a topic before the Revolution.
Nearly a century before the Revolution, the king’s advisors warned that the American
ministers were preaching freedom. Sir Edmund Andros arrived in Massachusetts as the king-
appointed governor sent to impose severe restrictions upon the colonists. If there was one
principle that had been ingrained into the Puritans it was “resistance to tyranny was obedience
to God.” When Governor Andros tried to seize the charters of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and
Massachusetts, the colonists hid the documents. Andros continued to carry out his orders
without them. The Reverend John Wise of Ipswich, Massachusetts, led his fellow townsmen in
a revolt against a tax levied by Andros and was imprisoned for his resistance. He later wrote
two widely circulated pamphlets in 1710 and 1717 that stated “democracy was God’s ordained
government in both church and state.” His works, reprinted in 1772, were declared to have
been a textbook of liberty for our Revolutionary fathers.
A distinguishing feature in New England history was the “liberty of the gospel.” This liberty
was preached from American pulpits and raised an awareness that man’s rights originated from
God and not the king. Soon the colonists were willing to defend life and fortune to protect
these rights. Throughout the American landscape, the preaching of liberty was so much of
a common theme that the British Parliament began to call the American Revolution “The
Presbyterian Revolt.”
The original Separatists and Puritans who settled in America were fleeing from the oppression
and persecution of the British crown. A strong underlying belief in the New England church
was that their great grandparents’ exodus was much like the Israelites’ exodus of Egypt to the
Promised Land.
Prior to the 1760s, most Americans were still content to be loyal subjects to their king.
The year 1763 brought an end to the seven-year French and Indian War. Although this war
was ultimately fought on three continents, France and Great Britain were heavily embattled on
American soil. This fight was for land and specifically westward territory. Great Britain emerged
as the victor and became the dominant world power. The French threat to the colonies had
The Morning Star E-Journal • 9
been eliminated. The British control of the New World extended eastward from the Mississippi
to the Atlantic Ocean including Canada northward down to Florida. The population of the
colonies was estimated to be about three million and the future of the colonies looked bright.
In the next two decades, however, this would drastically change!
After the war, Great Britain was saddled with tremendous debt. The Americans had not
paid their fair share of the cost of the war. Parliament believed that much of England’s debt
could be eliminated by raising taxes in the colonies. England knew that if they imposed any
additional taxes upon their own subjects they would have a revolt on their hands. Therefore,
Legislative Acts, Proclamations, and Declarations were passed by Parliament to raise and enforce
the collecting of taxes and to regulate trade in the colonies. Parliament’s new legislation was
also very restrictive on the colonists. Great Britain had established a policy prohibiting new
settlers beyond a line drawn through the Appalachians. This was known as the Proclamation
Line of 1763. The British were concerned that the influx of settlers would incite the Native
Americans into a full blown war. Nevertheless, settlers poured over the line in defiance of
the Proclamation. In addition, England had left 10,000 troops along the initial border of the
colonies to enforce this act and the soldiers still had to be paid, housed, and fed. The military
cost was skyrocketing, and the colonists chaffed under the excessive regulations.
Many who were chaplains in the French and Indian War returned to their homes and
pastored churches in their communities. When the Revolution broke out, those who were
alive were too old to join the army as chaplains. These men of God still held to their beliefs in
the right of resistance and taught it to their congregations. “The same was true of the entire
clergy who formed the first army against which the tides of British valor rolled in vain on the
heights of Bunker Hill. In every quiet little valley and sequestered nook in New England, the
pastor had taught the doctrines of freedom and preached the duty of resistance to oppression.
When the battle cry rolled over the land from Lexington and Concord, they shouldered their
muskets and went forth with the blessing of their pastor on their heads and his fervent prayers
for their success following their footsteps” (Headley, Joel Tyler, Chaplains and Clergy of the
Revolution, New York, 1864. pgs. 16-17).
A minister of the gospel who preached principles of liberty and freedom was revivalist
George Whitefield. He believed and preached that if the American colonies were to truly
be free, they needed to break from England.
Elisha Williams was a chaplain during the French and Indian War. He wrote a pamphlet
in 1744 titled, The Essential Rights and Liberties of Protestants, in which he explained
the principles of equality, liberty, and property.
Reverend Jonathan Mayhew, pastor of West Church in Boston, MA wrote, “…having
learnt from the Holy Scriptures that wise, brave, and virtuous men were always friends
to liberty,—that God gave the Israelites a king in his anger, because they had not sense
and virtue enough to be a free commonwealth—and that “where the spirit of the Lord
is there is liberty,--this made me conclude that freedom is a great blessing” (Kennedy,
Dr. James, They Preached Liberty, Coral Ridge Ministries, FL, pg. 27).
10 • The Morning STar E-Journal
Mayhew also preached in 1754 that “Rulers derive their power from God and are ordained
to be his minister for good . . . No king or magistrate can claim to rule by ‘divine right’
unless he has the lawful consent of his subjects and constantly ministers to their welfare.”
The Reverend Thomas Barnard preached in 1763, that “all power has its foundation in
compact or mutual consent or else it proceeds from fraud or violence.”
Dr. Charles Chauncy was considered by John Adams to be a leading voice of liberty. The
Reverend Chauncy was the minister of the First Church in Boston for sixty years. His
sermons, newspaper articles, and pamphlets were widely distributed even in Europe!
His Thanksgiving sermon on the Repeal of the Stamp Act (1766) bristles with arguments
in favor of resistance against British tyranny (Kennedy, pg 39).
The Reverend Charles Turner of Duxbury, Massachusetts in a 1773 sermon preached that
“The Scriptures cannot be rightfully expounded without explaining them in a manner
friendly to the cause of freedom” (Kennedy, pg. 51).
The Reverend John Witherspoon became president of the College of New Jersey, later
Princeton University. He was the only college president and clergyman to sign the
Declaration of Independence. Witherspoon drew the connection between civil and
religious liberty. In one of his greatest sermons he said, “The knowledge of God and
his truths have from the beginning of the world been chiefly, if not entirely confined
to those parts of the earth where some degree of liberty and political justice were to
be seen . . . there is not a single instance in history in which civil liberty was lost, and
religious liberty preserved entire” (Spivey, Larkin, Miracles of the American Revolution,
Chattanooga, TN 2010, pg. 37).
The Reverend Samuel Cooper was one of the half dozen most influential Bostonians
during the American Revolution. During the time of the Stamp Act, because of his pas-
sionate preaching against the unfair legislation, his church was turned into a barracks for
British soldiers. He was a close friend of John and Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and
Benjamin Franklin. He stirred the patriot’s cause with his preaching and when Benjamin
Franklin was in France, Cooper kept him informed with unfolding events in America.
Even when the Stamp Act was repealed, American preachers warned of future infringements
upon the liberties of the colonists. As British tyranny increased, the voices behind the pulpits
grew louder with compelling sermons about the resistance to tyranny. Tensions between the
British and Americans were escalating. Revival was now becoming revolution!
Author Joel Headley captures the character and the lives of the chaplains well when he wrote:
“All these, and a hundred other great and good men, by their example and eloquence
fed the fires of liberty and sustained the courage of the people. Men of learning and
culture, they were looked up to for advice and counsel—whose praise was not only in
all the churches, but throughout the land, for their integrity, ability and patriotism. These
formed a host of devoted laborers in the common cause, but more than this, their prayers
arose incessantly, from camp and field, that God would defend the right, and save his

people. These last are counted as nothing by historian, but we may rest assured that
they did more than resolutions of Congress, and acts of committees of safety, towards
achieving our liberties. One may consider it beneath the dignity of history to put them
among the causes that led ultimately to our success: but when that history comes to be
read in the light of eternity, the enthusiasm of volunteers, and the steady courage of the
disciplined battalions, will sink into insignificance beside the devout prayers and faith of
these men of God” (Headley, Joel Tyler, Chaplains and Clergy of the Revolution, New
York, 1864. pg. 73.)
These pastors were distinguished for their bold patriotism and they fearlessly raised a
warning to their communities. They were heroes who inspired love and loyalty to God and
country. Their enemies hated the courage and enthusiasm they imparted to their congregations.
In the Revolutionary War, when a chaplain was taken prisoner, they were treated more severely
than their fellow soldiers. Their legendary exploits deserve to be told. We’ll learn more about
these brave soldier preachers in the next article.

Eagle Molt
by Todd Bentley
All Scripture references are New King James Version.
T his is a teaching on the process of suffering and transformation using the story and pro-
phetic parallel of how an eagle molts. Be blessed by these thoughts and let God speak to
you about molting.
The analogy of the eagle appears more than thirty times in the Bible, sometimes to describe
God as a parent eagle in a nest caring for His children, and also metaphorically, giving us a
picture that we can relate to about growth in our Christian life.
Often, those who have been in high places are taken into hidden, lonely places for a time
of renewal, as you’ll recall Elijah was after his experience on Mount Carmel. Sometimes our
wilderness experiences follow times of powerful revelations from the Lord. The Holy Spirit
drove Jesus into the wilderness after the Lord audibly told the people that Jesus was His Son,
that Jesus was much loved, and that everyone should hear Him. Once there, He was severely
tested. As such, our faith in His powerful revelations may also be tested.
At other times, we’re driven there just as Jesus withdrew to the wilderness from the crowds
(see Luke 5:15, 16). The psalmist wrote about God: “Who satisfies your mouth with good
things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103:5).
A Prophetic Parallel
It’s interesting to see the parallel between the eagle’s shedding process and growth in our
Christian walk. Although the majestic eagle soars to great heights, it also spends anxious days
alone in the valley. We, as believers, spend time on the mountaintop soaring with God too, but
at least once in our lifetime we suddenly find ourselves hidden away, lonely, and undergoing
transformation in the cleft of the rock in the wilderness.
Does the eagle mount up at your command and make its nest on high? On the rock it
dwells and resides, on the crag of the rock and the stronghold. From there it spies out the
prey; its eyes observe from afar (see Job 39:27- 29).
Of all known birds, the eagle flies not only very high (see Proverbs 23:5; Jeremiah 49:16;
Obadiah 1:4), but with great swiftness (see Deuteronomy 28:49; II Samuel 1:23; Jeremiah 4:13;
Lamentations 4:19; Job 9:25-26). An eagle is appreciated for its strength (see Psalm 103:5),
setting its nest in high places (see Jeremiah 49:16), and its powerful vision (see Job 39:27-30).
God’s Design
The powerful eagle’s survival is linked to its plumage since its feathers function to insulate,
protect, transport, and identify it. Feathers may become worn out, frayed, or weakened by a
buildup of oil and dirt. With a wingspan of up to eight feet, plumage should be light for soaring
and strong and tight to insulate eagles from the cold and wet. The bald eagle has several layers
The Morning Star E-Journal • 13
of feathers, each serving a different function. Under the outer layer of feathers is an inner layer
of downy ones. God’s design of the feather’s interlocking nature is amazing!
Thus, often in their lifespan of thirty or so years, beginning about age four to five, they
molt. They will not lose all of their plumage in a given molt, usually about one-half to two-thirds
of all feathers (starting from the head down, and in patches), but the process of shedding and
re-growth in any given cycle may take months.
Eagles may descend for a molt—usually to a safe refuge in a hidden low place on the forest
floor, or in the cleft of a rock or crevice. Some cycles of the molt renders an eagle very weak.
Most cannot fly or hunt because they may lose vital primary and secondary feathers and it takes
a great deal of energy and body resources to grow feathers. This is the time when eagles are
in the greatest danger. Since they use the energy stores in their fat for feather growth, they
are less able to fight disease or stress. In their weakened state, they are also in danger from
predators and the elements. Interestingly, some experts report that eagles lose their ability to
tear, which diminishes their sharp vision. It is also said that calcium accumulates on their beaks,
further hindering their survival.
Vision Restored
At some stage of the molting process, the older, more mature eagles (who have experienced
molting before) drop meat to replenish the molting eagle’s energy, because its oily fat stores
are used to stimulate the growth of new feathers. Eventually the eagle gains enough strength
to fly to a mountain or a high place and to beat or scrape its beak against a rock to break off
the calcium. With renewed strength, the eagle soars against the wind to stimulate the flow of
tears, and with vision restored, it flies higher and faster than ever. Some don’t make it through
to the end of the molt; others don’t endure through the re-growth. However, those that do
bear the process of transformation rise again, stronger than ever before, their youth renewed,
and they soar into higher realms than before.
There’s an interesting reference to this process in Micah 1:16: “Make yourself bald and
cut off your hair, because of your precious children; enlarge your baldness like an
eagle, for they shall go from you into captivity.” In those days, cutting off the hair was a
sign of great distress—for instance, upon the death of a loved one. The suffering ended when
the hair grew back. “Enlarging your baldness” referred to the rising of the eagle after casting
its feathers and breeding new ones.
Let us too embrace His process in our lives as we will molt and become new and
strong eagles.

11, 111, and 11-11
by Lloyd Phillips
All Scripture references are New King James Version.
G od communicates in various ways and in diverse manners. One way that He catches the
attention of some is through the repetition of numbers. Recently, a young man was sent
to me who had newly been saved. Almost as soon as he was saved, he started seeing a series
of numbers over and over. He began to photograph these numbers with his phone when he
saw them, and he showed me some of the photos. It was indeed remarkable to see some of the
circumstances where the series of numbers occurred. I was able to give him an interpretation,
which was a great encouragement to him, as well as a direction.
The numbers 111 and 11-11 have been coming up to many people, so I would like to
look at the spiritual message behind these. The number 111 generally speaks to me of the
word of the Lord coming—it usually is a substantiation that I have heard something from the
Lord which He is now confirming was Him. Jeremiah 1:11 says “Moreover the word of the
LORD came to me, saying….” Jeremiah 11:1 says, “The word that came to Jeremiah from
the LORD, saying....”
First a few things on the number 11: To put it in context, the number 10 stands for ordinal
perfection, and 12 stands for governmental perfection. The number 11 stands for transition
and sometimes that can indicate disorder. It can also represent “approaching the end” or
nearing completion—the “11th hour.” The prophetic voice crying in the wilderness was like
this: “Prepare the way of the Lord.” I’ll ask you to think “prophetically” for these next ones.
The first verse in the Bible to use the word “prophet,” is also the first verse in the Bible
to use the word “pray.” Genesis 20:7, “Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is
a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live.” This shows us 1+1 equals the
prophetic. Genesis 41:32 says “And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice;
it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass”
(KJV). The word for “established” should be “confirmed.” It happened twice and was confirmed;
this is a prophetic attribute (see Acts 15:32 KJV). “And Judas and Silas, being prophets also
themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.” “It will shortly
come to pass” is often an attribute of both the number 11 and the prophetic.
When most people see the two dreams, they see them as 1+1=2, but prophetically, we
can see them as 1+1=11, events in transition. The prophetic is a bridge between events,
between administrations, between changes, in our lives etc. It is like a bridge in that it helps
us “crossover.” When I have received the numbers 11-11, I look to Deuteronomy 11:11: “but
the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks
water from the rain of heaven.” (This is a type of prophetic confirmation—11 twice). Also
the prophetic usually points in a direction, which this verse certainly does. The prophetic is
generally for edification, exhortation, and comfort, and it helps us get moving in the direction
of our destinies and callings—what the Lord is pointing us toward and which direction He is
pointing to the land “which drinks water from the rain of heaven.”
The Morning Star E-Journal • 15
The knowing of the prophetic word alone can bring disorder (11), but the acting upon
the prophetic word can bring life (see Genesis 20:7) and bring us into a place of blessing
or destiny (see Deuteronomy 11:11). The prophetic is in much need of mentoring because
alone it can bring disorder, but with ordinal and governmental wisdom (represented through
study and mentoring, numbers 10 and 12), the prophetic brings life. I think we can all recall
people new to or young in the prophetic who were not well-grounded in the Word or put a
prophetic interpretation above the Word of God, and also those who will not come into or
seek out mentoring. These were in that category of “disorderly”—this is the number 11, and
it is also the prophetic.
I think about the old Three Dog Night song, “One Is the Loneliest Number.” The prophetic
all alone is like loneliness doubled (remember Elijah “I alone am left”), but the Lord said that
wasn’t the case and sent him to raise up others. He made the crossover.
Over the years, I have noticed that these types of inspirations go in seasons or cycles.
People may not realize they are in a season that others are also going through, but someone
like myself, who communicates with many folks from around the globe, can see these waves
come and go, and come again. It is not limited to 111 or 11-11 or 444, or 222, or other numeri-
cal revelations that I have written about, but nevertheless, it is the same Lord communicating
in various and sometimes odd ways to get our attention. People are surprised and relieved
when they search for meaning and find that someone has written an explanation to these
things because I receive letters and emails telling me so. Because of this, I sometimes have a
confirmation of a pulse I am sensing in the Spirit. I believe these number revelations are part
of His unveiling of secret things, bigger than any of us could quite comprehend individually,
yet it is needful that the Lord act in order to bring His will to pass. Deuteronomy 29:29 says
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed
belong to us and to our children forever.” The 11:11 has been showing up for a time, and
more frequently with a number of people.
An additional yet important aspect that I am sensing concerning the 11-11 occurrences
is found in the first part of Isaiah 11:11, which says, “It shall come to pass in that day that
the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people
who are left.” I believe the Lord is adding to what I have already said—that some need to
know they have not been missed or not missed out.
No matter the circumstance, the Lord is saying to you that He is giving you another
opportunity to crossover—a second chance to act upon the inspiration that He has given to
you. The offer is still good; take hold of it, and crossover into that new place and allow the
blessings of God’s order to come into place in your life. You will not be sorry you did.

MorningStar Conferences continue to go higher. We have now hosted
about 120 conferences. It was a commission given to us as a ministry to gather together
those from different nations and denominations and that the Lord would meet with us in
a special way. He has sure kept His part of the bargain. 2011 was the best yet.
Our prayer from the beginning was that each conference would go higher than the
previous one—that they would continually advance. This prayer is being answered. We
also prayed that in each conference the message would go higher, the worship would
go higher, the ministry would go higher, and yet people would not leave talking about
the message, the worship, or the ministry as much as they would leave talking about
the Lord Himself and how they met with Him while they were here. We pray that every
person who comes leaves knowing the Lord better, knowing His voice better, and above
all, loving Him more. This prayer is being answered. It has been His manifest presence
that is increasing.
When the Lord is not moving, there are few things more boring than church. When He
is moving, there is no place you want to be more than in the gathering of God’s people.
After 120 conferences, to have an increasing desire for the next one because of the way
He comes to them, makes all of the work more than worth it. 2011 was special, and we’re
thankful for all that He did. If the trend continues, 2012 is going to be truly remarkable.
MorningStar University implements work Education
program. MSU is devoted to raising up a high-impact generation who will fulfill
The Great Commission and to preach the gospel of the kingdom throughout the world.
In keeping with the understanding that the mandate to “go into all the world” is not just
geographical, but includes every center of influence such as business, government,
education, the media, arts, and entertainment, etc., MSU now has an approved program
that will enable students to be trained in vocations such as multimedia, sound engineering,
hotel management, and other vocations as well as Christian leadership.
The work education program does allow students to reduce or eliminate tuition and other
expenses to the degree that they participate in it, but the work is a graded course used
to develop marketable knowledge and skills to undergird our graduates’ missions in life.
Some work education courses will begin with the January Trimester, and others will
be added for September. For more information, please check our website at:

Heritage Courts continues to expand. This is the residential community
at the Heritage Grand Hotel where rooms have been converted into beautiful residences.
Some of these are being acquired as full-time residences, and some as second homes,
but the community is already becoming an important part of the ministry of MorningStar.
The basic mission of MorningStar is to be a school and mission base for preparing future
leaders and missionaries who will impact the world with the gospel of the kingdom. This
is not a retirement community, but for those who are seeking to make their senior years
their most fruitful for the Lord and His purposes. We are seeking teachers, missionaries,
intercessors, counselors, and those who can help mentor the emerging generation. Units
start for as low as $67,000. For more information, please contact David Herr or Angie
Davis at 877-748-6937 (toll free).
Heritage Towers is scheduled for mediation in January. The
Heritage Towers project continues to be locked in a stalemate with York County. Feeling
that we have exhausted every possible way to resolve the issues, the MorningStar Board
of Directors resolved that it was time to go to litigation against the county. Days before
the suit was to be filed, the county requested one more attempt at mediation. Wanting to
be sure we have “gone the last mile” to try to resolve this before entering into litigation
that will likely be a national issue, we agreed to one more attempt at mediation. If this
fails, MorningStar will be filing the suit before the end of January, and as we have a
policy of openness, we will be fully revealing our case at that time to all of our friends
and supporters.
We are confident in our position on this case and have never wavered in our resolve
to have Heritage Towers completed as a première Christian Active Adult Community. We
thank all who have so patiently stood with us through this battle, especially the prayer
groups that have come together for regular prayer for the Towers. The greater the battle
the bigger the victory, and we know the extraordinary battle being fought over the tower
is because of its importance.
CSCL is getting a gym. The Comenius School for Creative Leadership (CSCL),
our K-12 school, has begun construction on its new state-of-the-art gym. This has been
a dream for years. CSCL has produced some remarkable teams, winning in conferences
against much larger schools, but it has had to rent, borrow, and constantly move some
of its athletic programs. Now we will have our own home and a very nice one that can
be a draw to the whole community.
The CSCL gym is about much more than producing good athletes. The entire CSCL
program is devoted to preparing high-impact leaders for the future, and sports can be a
major way to teach and hone leadership and teamwork skills. We’ve had families move
from across the country just to put their children in CSCL, and this is another major step

in providing the children God has entrusted to us with the best preparation possible for
their future. Thanks to all who have been a part of working on this project. If you would
like to be a part of helping to complete it, we can still use donations and sponsors. Just
contact Sandy Woods at cscladmin@morningstarministries.org or at 803-547-3223.
MorningStar TV continues to expand. Our daily 30-minute program,
Prophetic Perspectives, which is devoted to understanding current events from a biblical
worldview, continues to get traction and gain viewers as word about it spreads. Some
of these programs have already been called “classics,” and many are getting a “must
see” from our viewers. Thanks.
Prophetic Perspectives is seen weekdays on Angel One on the Dish Network. After
the first of the year, we will be expanding onto other satellite, cable, and local networks.
The reviews and feedback on this program have been most encouraging, and our resolve
to see it continually improved is paying off.
These programs are also posted at www.morningstartv.com where they can be viewed
at your convenience. Thanks to all who have supported this mission, and especially to
our program sponsors.
MorningStar/CMM Missions now has more than 500 missionaries in the
field, with thousands of churches planted. One of our missionaries, P.G. Vargis is
considered one of the great missionaries of our time and has planted more than 5,500
churches in India, along with schools and mission bases. There is a great need for
teachers and other support ministries in this great and expanding work.
Vincent, our missionary in Haiti, has between 300 and 500 pastors reporting to him,
as well as orphanages and schools. Others are likewise doing great works for the gospel.
One of our primary goals as a ministry is to continually upgrade our support for them.
Most raise their own basic support, but they need ministry help like teachers and pastors
who can help establish the converts as disciples whose lives are built on sound, biblical
truth, and whose faith rests solidly on the power of God.
For this reason, we are working hard to finish our Mission Base in Moravian Falls.
This will be a communications center for all of our missionaries, as well as a training
and support base for our Special Forces Missionaries.
Thanks for all of the churches who have sent teams to help complete this base, and
for those who have contributed financially and by donating materials. It will be world-class
when it’s finished, and we are making steady progress. For updates, please check out
our website at www.morningstarministries.org and go to the tab for “Missions.”
