Abstract: The portable battery charged electric power tiller machine. the conventional agriculture
methods of farming, as it reduces the human effort, at a very low cost using motorized tilling mechanism.
The electric power tiller helps to reduce the time and cost involved in tilling using a new portable design
thereby increasing the productivity and efficiency in agriculture. The machine is use of a wheel with
welded angles to provide maximum gripping on soil. The wheel design is developed, to provide a firm
grip on soil strong enough to drag the cultivator forks while tilling process. The machine is driven by an
electric motor which uses a sprocket chain arrangement to drive the pulling wheel.

I. INTRODUCTION
Power Tiller is a mainly design for tiling of small farms and in hill farming. The adoption of Power Tiller by the
farmers for carrying out farming operation is low cost as compared to the tractors. Power Tiller is a walking type
tractor the operator trials a back The Power Tiller holding two handles of tiller in his hands Power Tiller is also called
as a single human walking type tractor.
1. Battery 12 volt
2. Motor12 volt
3. Weldedwheel
4. Frame
5. Chainsprocket mechanism etc.
Farming major the modern technologies in agriculture routines is undisputed currently Power Tiller are working
capacity is 8 to 10 hours and weighting up to 30 to 40 kg are tiller machine. The Power Tiller presented in this project.
This project deals with design of machine and development of Chain and sprocket, bearing, electric motor, bicycle
wheel, wheel angles, battery, electrical and wiring, mount and joints, supporting frames, screw and fitting.
This Power Tiller that we presented in this report is meant for cultivator farms with minimum interrow this of
machine is 3 hours in 100 metre distance are cover and changeable battery 12 volt are used, this battery charge in 3 to 4
hours and same motor would be used in the machine. This machine is easy to operate cheap portable and simple in
construction and maintenance available space. Power tiller is designed mainly for tilling of seedbed in small farms and
in hill farming and also for carrying out spraying operations in horticultural crops and food crops. The adoption of
power tillers by the farmers for carrying out farming operations is low when compared to tractors. The first successful
model of power tiller was Power tiller is a walking type tractor.

II. LITERATURE REVIEW

Pankajkumaret(2011) showed mechanization of paddy transplanting through Cooperative societies in Jalandhar
District of Panjab state. The conducted study revealed that the Cooperative societies had purchased 14 paddy
transplanters and the total area under mechanized Transplanting was 170 acre during 2009 and 365 acres during the
year 2010. One of the reasons Of non adoption of paddy transplanter was its high cost and requirement of expertise in
growing Mat type nursery and operating the machines.
Fazlollahiet al.,(2012) studiedthat the requirement to using suitable tractor and Agriculture instruments in
agricultural areas is one of the essential requirements in agriculture Section. The aim of this study was evaluation of

Iran. At this study According to power resources, agricultural products, climatic conditions, cropped area and
Environmental capacity based on field study at the studied region two issues including Agricultural mechanization and
environmental capacity evaluated. The results showed that Cropped area at this hometown is 54020 ha and
mechanization level is1.052 kw/ha.
Nagarajet al., (2013) observed that knowledge and adoption of farm mechanization by Paddy grower in tungabhadra
project area, Karnataka The study was conducted to know the Knowledge and Adoption level of paddy growers of
Raichur district about farm mechanization Practices. thresher. However, only (15.00%) of the Paddy growers
possessed skill in the use of paddy transplanter due to its recent Introduction.

III. OPERATION
The operation of a power tiller involve walking behind the machine. The machine consists of electric motor, battery,
chain sprocket, wheel angles, bearing, electrical & wiring, mounts and joints, supporting frames, screw and fitting,
bicycle wheel, the machine is driven by electric motor which uses a sprocket chain arrangement to drive the pulling
wheel. A battery is used to power motor with a forks through soil. The cultivator forks allow for easy and narrow
tilling exactly as needed for farming. The machine is light in weight and portable. Due to easy construction of machine
the maintenance is very low.

IV. METHODOLOGY
Fabricating the machine according to the following steps:
• The critical study of various research paper.
• Gather all the information about the project
• Collect all the components
• Fabricate the actual machine by using the machine components.
• Checking the working of machine.
• Presenting the report and research paper.

V. WORKING
It consist of chain sprocket, battery operated electric motor, mounts and joints, etc. the machine is driven by electric
motor which uses a sprocket chain arrangement to drive the pulling wheel. A battery is used to power motor with a
forks through soil. The cultivator forks allow for easy and narrow tilling exactly as needed for farming. The machine is
light in weight and portable. Due to easy construction of machine the maintenance is very low. The cost of machine is
very low as the farmers can purchase the machine easily.
