For Fleims Aviation Airplanes: DGAC approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that affects airplane type design. MAN-HOURS Not applicable MATERIAL Replacement vacuum pumps and couplings are available from Cessna Parts Distribution through an appropriate Cessna Service Station. Refer to applicable airplane illustrated Parts Catalog for replacement part numbers. The following is available from Cessna Parts Distribution through an appropriate Cessna Service Station for the suggested list price shown. MEBO2-2 February 25, 2002 Page 5 ‘ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1, The following are the maximum component in-service/calendar time limits. Normal on-condition requirements wil stil apply if replacement is required prior to these limits. ‘COMPONENT REPLACEMENT TIME '500 Hours of operation (See Note) "At vacuum pump replacement or 6 calendar years, whichever occurs fist. (See Note) 500 Hours of operation or 10 years of service, whichever occurs first. (See Note) OVERHAUL NO Engine Driven Dry Vacuum Pump (Not lubricated with engine oil) Engine Driven Dry Vacuum Pump Drive Coupling (Not lubricated with engine oil) Electrically Driven Standby Dry Vacuum Pumps NO NOTE: Replace engine driven dry vacuum pump not equipped with a wear indicator every 500 hours of ‘operation, oF replace according to the vacuum pump manufacturer's recommended inspection and replacement interval, whichever occurs first. For a vacuum pump equipped with a wear indicator, replace pump according to the vacuum pump manufacturer's recommended inspection and replacement intervals. If the manufacturer of the vacuum pump or the vacuum pump drive coupling has a shorter/more restrictive replacement interval, then that interval shall be used as the pump and/or drive coupling replacement interval. When installing new dry vacuum pumps, use only $3346-1 or Cessna approved equivalent gaskets. Cork type gaskets and other gaskets are not approved. 2. Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating compliance and method of compliance with this service bulletin NOTE: This information shall be considered an amendment to the Cessna Manufacturer's Service/Maintenance Manual or Instructions for continued airworthiness, and must be accomplished for ongoing airworthiness compliance as required per 14 CFR Part (FAR) 43.13. This Service Bulletin will be superseded by the next revision to the applicable airplane Service/Maintenance Manuals concerning the replacement intervals of vacuum pumps and vacuum, pump drive couplings. CREDIT Not applicable ‘MEBO2-2 Page 6 February 25, 2002 OWNER NOTIFICATION On February 25, 2002 the following Owner Advisory message will be sent to applicable owners of record in MEBO2-2A. Dear Cessna Owner: This Owner Advisory is to inform you that Service Bulletin MEB02-2 has been issued to provide replacement time requirements for engine driven dry vacuum pumps, vacuum pump drive couplings and electric standby ‘vacuum pumps. MEB02-2 requires replacement of vacuum system components as follows: ‘A. Replace engine driven dry vacuum pumps not equipped with a wear indicator every 500 hours of operation, of replace according to the vacuum pump manufacturer's recommended inspection and replacement interval, whichever occurs first. B. Replace electric standby vacuum pumps not equipped with a wear indicator every 500 hours of ‘operation or 10 years, or replace according to the vacuum pump manufacturer's recommended inspection and replacement interval, whichever occurs first C. Replace engine driven vacuum pump drive couplings at vacuum pump replacement or every 6 calendar years, whichever occurs first. NOTE: For a vacuum pump equipped with a wear indicator, replace pump according to the vacuum pump manufacturer's recommended inspection and replacement intervals. NOTE: If the manufacturer of the vacuum pump or the vacuum pump drive coupling has a shorter/more restrictive replacement interval, then that interval shall be used as the pump and/or drive coupling replacement interval NOTE: When instaling new dry vacuum pumps, use only $3346-1 or Cessna approved equivalent gaskets.
