1 General
On two serial spindles, it is possible to execute spindle synchronous control by input signal
so that one spindle (slave spindle) follows another spindle (master spindle).
To take an example of using, it is possible to execute rotary guide bush control on two
spindles.
2 Specification
To synchronize these two spindles, electronic gear box function(EGB) of serial spindle is
used. In the Spindle EGB, the synchronous pulse is produced from the feedback
pulse of the position detector attached to the master axis in the motor control, and the slave
axis rotates with the pulse. Feedback pulse from Master side to Slave side is forwarded by
the
communication between spindle amplifiers.
In this functon, PMC input signal is used for Simple spindle EGB mode ON/OFF.
In order to turn on to Simple spindle EGB mode, the slave spindle has to be Cs contouring
control mode, though the master spindle may be any mode.
As for the spindle system configuration (motor, amplifier, sensor), please use the same
system configuration as spindle EGB system. As for the details, please refer to “FANUC AC
SPINDLE MOTOR i series PARAMETER MANUAL (B-65280EN) 5.8 Spindle EGB

[Function] The Simple spindle EGB mode is turned to ON with the slave spindle which is
selected by the corresponding signal.
Note
1. This signal is effective when the parameter SEGs (No.7705#0) is
“ 1”.
2. If Simple spindle EGB mode is switched ON/OFF during both
master spindle and slave spindle are not in the stop state, the slave
spindle accelerates / decelerates immediately. Therefore, please
switch Simple spindle EGB mode ON/OFF when both master
spindle and slave spindle are in the stop state.
3. During Simple spindle EGB mode, please set the slave spindle to
Cs contouring control mode.

5 Note
(1) This function is a basic function. But Spindle serial output option and Cs contouring
control option are necessary.
(2) Please switch Simple spindle EGB mode ON/OFF when both master spindle and slave
spindle are in the stop state.
(3) During Simple spindle EGB mode, the excess error value of master spindle is returned to
the Cs contouring axis of slave spindle. Therefore, the slave spindle during Simple
spindle EGB mode always checks the excess error value at move.
(4) During Simple spindle EGB mode, the coordinates of Cs contouring axis of slave spindle
are not updated even if the slave spindle moves according to the movement of master
spindle.
(5) During Simple spindle EGB mode, the reference point return of Cs contouring axis of
slave spindle can not be done.
(6) During Simple spindle EGB mode, the composite control can not be done to the Cs
contouring axis of slave spindle.
(7) As for the spindle system configuration (motor, amplifier, sensor), please use the same
system configuration as spindle EGB system.
