Ict1 - Unit 4 - Msexcel

Microsoft Excel is an electronic spreadsheet application that allows users to create and manage worksheets and workbooks. A worksheet displays cells organized in a grid of rows and columns, and cells can contain numeric values, text, or formulas. Spreadsheets are useful for tasks like budgets and reports because they automatically recalculate all values when any cell changes. The Excel interface includes tabs for formatting, inserting objects, working with formulas and functions, analyzing and organizing data, reviewing changes, and customizing views.

UNIT IV – MICROSOFT EXCEL APPLICATION

Microsoft Excel is an electronic spreadsheet application in Windows. It allows you to create

many types of spreadsheets for Reports, budgets and other projects.

A spreadsheet is a computer application that simulates a paper worksheet. It displays multiple

cells that together make up a grid consisting of rows and columns, each cell containing either
alphanumeric text or numeric values. A spreadsheet cell may alternatively contain a formula that defines
how the contents of that cell is to be calculated from the contents of any other cell (or combination of
cells) each time any cell is updated. Spreadsheets are frequently used for financial information because
of their ability to re-calculate the entire sheet automatically after a change to a single cell is made.

 The Cell -Each rectangle in a worksheet is called a cell. A cell is the intersection of a row and a
column. Cells are the basic building blocks of a worksheet. Cells can contain a variety of content
such as text, formatting attributes, formulas, and functions.
 Worksheet – The primary document that you use in Excel to store and work with data called a
spreadsheet. It is consists of cells that are organized into columns (16, 384) and rows
(1,048,576); a worksheet(UNLIMITED) is always stored in a workbook.
 Workbook - refers to the Microsoft excel file which consists of infinite number worksheets which
depends on the capacity of the hardware.
