EPW30-48A Product Description
1.1. General
The Power-one EPW30-48A rectifier provides extremely reliable DC power in the highest
possible density. The module incorporates the latest power monitoring solutions through an
internal microprocessor by giving nearly real time updates to the system controller and adjacent
rectifiers. This guarantee tightly controlled load sharing among rectifiers and provides status and
identification information to the controller.
The rectifiers operate on the principle of active load sharing and can operate in parallel. They
incorporate "soft start" at the input and at the output, which avoids high incoming and outgoing
currents. The output voltage of the rectifier is automatically adjusted to the required voltage at
installation, by a reference in the backplane.
The rectifiers are primary switched power supplies, based upon modern resonance technology,
also known as "soft-switching". Benefits of this technique include high reliability, compact units,
self-protecting design and low emitted/conducted noise.
The EPW30-48A rectifiers are equipped with fan cooling. The module will turn off if a fault or
thermal problem should occur with the fan.
The EPW30-48A rectifiers be installed in EPS210-4830A system.

1.3. Installation an Removing of Rectifiers
Rectifier modules should be installed starting from the leftmost position in the rectifier
sub-rack/shelf.
1. Before installing the module, first determine the install location.
2. Check to make sure that the rectifier handle is in the “OPEN” position.
3. Place the module into the correct mounting slot on the shelf.
4. Slide the module until it contacts the interface connection at the rear of the shelf.
5. Fully insert the rectifier by pushing the module handle towards the shelf, the handle will rise
up and lock the unit into place.
6. Repeat this procedure for additional modules.

1.4. Operation
EPW30-48A has no specific operation except status indicators that is located on the front panel
of the module. The output voltage is adjusted from the controller.
EPW30-48A has LED indicators as follows:
LED Normal Abnormity Description
Indicating input voltage to module
Green LED light turn off
and module OK.
POWER ON
Yellow LED Indicating over temperature alarm
turn off light
WARNING and fan warning.
Indicating over voltage shutdown, fan
Red LED
shutdown, current sharing fault,
ALARM turn off light
temperature shutdown and other
reasons resulting in no output.
Note! The module is hot swappable and can be plugged or unplugged in a powered system
without interfering other modules or load.
