maXYmos PC Software
1. Installing and Starting the Program
maXYmos PC is a directly executable program. No installation process takes place and no
administrator rights are required. The program can also be started from the USB stick.
       1. Copy the maXYmos.exe into a prepared directory, e.g. F:\maXYmos PC\
       2. If within this same directory you create a subdirectory with the address F:\maXYmos
PC\Data, then this will be used automatically for storing data.
       3. Double-click on the .exe to open the main menu of the "Devices" tab. Buttons and
info fields remain inactive until a device is entered in the list of devices and
          subsequently selected.
       2. Tabs and their Functions
The function blocks are opened using the four tabs at the top left of the main menu
              Devices
              Process
              Explorer
              Program Info+Basic Setup
                                                1
  2.1 "Devices" Tab
The "Devices" tab presents the following functions:
              Firmware update
              Backup/Restore
              Setup
              Edit
              Instant Display
Open the "Devices" tab. If a connection to a maXYmos has not yet been
established, the majority of the buttons and fields will be inactive and therefore
grayed out. A connection to at least one maXYmos must first be established. This
will then appear in the list of devices.
2.1.1 Adding a maXYmos to the List of devices
        Task
To enable direct communication with a maXYmos, the device must be entered in
the "Devices" list, it must signal itself as "active" (green spot in the
maXYmos symbol) and it must be selected by clicking on it with the mouse.
        Procedure
        1. Click +New
        2. Enter the maXYmos IP address
        3. Click "Search". If a maXYmos is found, its Ident will be displayed
        4. Click OK to add the device to the list of devices (5)
        5. Left-click to highlight the list item in blue and thus create a link to this device.
All details and functions in this menu now relate to the selected device
                            1. 2. 3.

2.1.2 "Backup" Function
        Task
The Backup function saves all the device settings to a file. Using the Restore
function, these settings can then be restored to the original device or applied to a
        completely separate device.
        Procedure
        1. Highlight the desired device
        2. Click "Backup".
        3. Enter a name for the backup file (preferably based on the device serial
           number)
        4. Click OK to save the file
                                                                    3. 4.

2.1.3 "Restore" Function
      Task
The Restore function applies the device settings saved by the Backup function to a
maXYmos. The backup file can be loaded onto any device, not just the original
      one.
Condition: Firmware of source and target device of must be version V1.1.3 or
      higher.

      5. The following dialog appears. Parameter groups that you do not wish to restore
may be deselected here. For example, it may be sensible to preserve the field
bus setting of the target device.
      6. Click OK to start the restore process. After confirming the prompt, the backup
file is loaded onto the target device
                                                                  9.

      Task
Firmware updates keep your maXYmos up to date at all times. The latest firmware
file can be downloaded from the Kistler homepage. See the "Firmware Update
Function" chapter in the device manual.
      Procedure
      1. Highlight the desired device

3. Crosshairs Curve measurement using cursor ruler
4. Zoom setting Apply zoom from maXYmos or zoom to key points.
5. Bundle Bundle listed curves. Only related curves
(same MP, same station) are bundled.
The highlighted list entry (csv) is the determining factor.
6. Sensor X (Sensor Y) The temporal behavior of the measurands on sensor X
(i.e. X(t)) or sensor Y (i.e. Y(t)) is shown. These details can be used,
for example, to help determine what effect the feed rate has on the overall
measurement result. The screenshot below clearly shows that NOK results (red
curves) predominantly occur with slower feed rates.

        2. Select "Import" from the "Standard" button
        3. Create a project-based subdirectory in the "Sampling" directory and click OK to
confirm. The test records from the source directory are now grouped by date
into the subdirectories. These are automatically created by the program.
                               2.
                 1.

4. The project directory is created and
   also divided into directories structured
by curve date. If the project folder is
highlighted, then all the test records
from this folder are displayed. If a
subdirectory of this project folder is
highlighted, then only the test records
   with this date are displayed.
                                   13
2.3.4 Reading Test Records from maXYmos
        Task
Read temporarily logged records stored in maXYmos (see SERVICE menu
Temp. Datalogging) and use maXYmos PC to display and evaluate.
        Procedure
        1. Select "Download" from the "Standard" button
        2. Select maXYmos (check tick) and
        3. create "Project Directory". This is integrated into the "Sampling" directory.
        4. Click OK to confirm.
                                 1.

        5. The project directory is created and also divided into directories structured by
curve date. If the project folder is highlighted, then all the test records from this
folder are displayed. If a subdirectory of this project folder is highlighted, then
only the test records with this date are displayed.
                                            14
