Venus in Mula

Venus in Mula nakshatra can lead to an insatiable desire for depth of experience and knowledge. As Mula represents separation and Venus represents union, there is a push-pull in relationships. Venus in Mula prefers researching subjects deeply rather than experiencing a variety of things superficially. This placement can indicate talents in research, intuition, herbal medicine, and beauty. Relationships may experience love-hate dynamics and dissatisfaction due to the conflicting energies of Mula and Venus.

Venus in Mula

Note: The outer planets modify the significations of the sun, moon and ascendant, as these are the
driving forces of a chart. To fully understand how outer planets function, they must be studied with the
context of the “Big 3”.

However, since the moon & ascendant reflect “all of the lights” of a placement, when we describe Venus,
mars, rahu etc. in any given nakshatra, we are also necessarily describing the moon and ascendant. The
inverse, however, does not apply.

General:
Venus is a philosopher, like Jupiter. But she operates in the terrestrial planes. Venus learns though taste,
which requires proximity. The problem with Mula is that it is a nakshatra of distance. Mula, as a butcher
nakshatra, causes separation between things, and as the galactic center, places itself outside and cut off
from earthly experiences, because these are the essence of illusion.

Now the question is, how does Venus, a planet dependent on proximity and union, operate in Mula, a
lunar mansion of separation?

Imagine having a lick of ice cream. For the common Venus, the creaminess of soft serve ice-cream is
satisfactory enough, but for one in Mula, no number of licks is enough for one to experience that sense
of union - more is required, because one can never quite get to the center.

Mula can be said to be like a black hole that swallows and swallows but is never full. Such a Venus would
go further and further and further just to experience any sense of satisfaction from her surrounding
reality.

This is also what makes Venus in Mula (much more so than Jupiter in Mula) a talented researcher.
Research is materialism/variety. Research is an activity that can only occur in the physical world for this
is the plane of multiplicity which creates confusion, as one needs to sift through much noise and creates
the need for a trail to the past. Venus in Mula, through her inability to be satisfied with the more
immediate, vibrant, direct experience of reality, needs to go deeper and deeper into whichever chosen
object or subject to achieve climax.

It wouldn’t be enough to have the one serving of ice-cream, but a second, then a third, then with
toppings, but still there is no satisfaction. How else to intensify the experience? How else to draw our
object of desire closer to us? Perhaps if we knew more about ice-cream, this knowledge would enrich
our experience further. By visiting factories, reading articles, consulting dairy professionals,
experimenting with different toppings and flavors, we will learn more and more about the subtle art of
churning ice-cream. Even if we never become experts in this field, even just this knowledge and our
application of it, will add more life to the senses. Venus, the eye, needs sight, but Mula is a nakshatra of
total darkness suggesting again that in this nakshatra, she cannot get her satisfaction through common
means, but instead lusting over what cannot be perceived, and yet, yearning to perceive the
unperceivable.
The belly of a true researcher is never satisfied, regardless of how much it is fed. Such a Venus would be
less interested in the variety of stimuli around it – Mula is disinterested in the veneer. For this reason,
such Venus would prefer depth over breadth of experience, ignoring most things and digging very
deeply into very few.

On a more aesthetic level, Mula represents the root, but Venus is the flower. The perversion of the
modern world - the cause of acne, bad breath, brittle hair, cancerous cells, and other blemishes - is a
consequence of the artifice that we are bubbled within. Mula, with its resistance to falsity, coupled with
Venus, can bless one with the true, root knowledge of beauty and how to create it from a solid
foundation that cannot be shaken. The result is impressive, awe-inspiring, and indestructible. It is
youthful, radiant and sexually provocative – as the goal of mother nature (whose many forms includes
Nirṛti, the goddess of Mula) relative to beauty, is to inspire passion and pursuit. This is not a beauty that
bends to the changing winds of next-weeks’ trends.

Relationships:
As the karaka, or soul, of the 7th house, Venus rules our ability to understand other humans. The
nakshatra that scorns the surface and seeks depth is not deceived by appearances. Such a Venus would
be cautious in her evaluation of others and would not be satisfied with basic information. In a more
magical perspective, such a Venus could study auras and the like – perceive with the eye that which goes
beyond the mundane ability of the senses.

But now there is a conflict. Mula is separation. Venus is union. A recipe for a push-pull relationships style
on the part of the native. On the one hand seeking to unite with the deeper parts of the other. On the
other hand, a deep discomfort, a seeking to distance and end the relationship for one reason or the
other.

Of course, such a combination could also incline one towards “spiritual” pursuits – the goal being to
unite oneself with what cannot be united through the senses - the soul, the true center of the individual.

Miscellaneous:
Intuition, psychology, herbal medicine, health expert, natural remedies, research, love-hate relationship
with materialism, love-hate relationship with partner, constant break ups and make-ups, sexual healing,
relationship problems, promiscuity, mistreatment of or by partner, dissatisfaction with material matters,
beauty guru, physical therapist, strong and healthy hair, bright eyes, sexually attractive.
