provided. Use any local or official language that you are comfortable with. Use extra sheets if needed.
Please limit your response to 500 words.
OBJECTIVE 9
Designed, adapted and implemented teaching strategies
that are responsive to learners with disabilities, giftedness and talents
PROMPT #1
Context: Clara is often seen restless or unfocused in class. She also has troubles following instructions and skips
activities when left unsupervised.
Action Taken: You had a conference with her parents and found out from them that Clara was diagnosed with a
learning disability.
How will you modify the instructions for Clara to keep her focus on classroom activities? Write your reflections in
this form. Mention in your reflections a specific learning disability that you are familiar with or have researched on.
YOUR REFLECTIONS
In the situation of Clara, she included in the regular class with her classmates. The teacher noticed her behavior
during class hours which is different from other students. As a classroom teacher in the whole duration of school year, I
notice the individual differences of my students. I monitor each of them and note the details about them in their anecdotal
record. Among the students, Clara had many records about her behavior. She is unfocussed during class hours. When
she is not supervising by her teacher, she didn’t continue her tasks and until she skips the activities.
The teacher decided to call up the parents about the situation of Clara in classroom. Clara diagnosed with a
learning disability. I will pay more attention to Clara by supervising in her tasks in order to finish it in the right time. I will
make an intervention and learning tasks address only to her. The learners with disability should give them special
attention. Be patient towards to them. We can be LSEN (Learners with Special Education Needs) receiving teacher. The
DepEd promoting inclusion those with severe should be included in some activities inside the classroom with classmates.
I handled learner with disability 4 years ago. He is visually impaired and totally blind. I gave special attention
towards to him. He did very well in school academically and also in the field of sports. I attended several trainings and
seminar about on how to handle learners with disability. Now, I have a learner with autism. I observe about him, he is as
good as his classmates. He is guided and supervised by his parents during our online class. According to his parents,
they do anything for the education of their child. No matter what happened they are always there for him. They always talk
the teachers about the progression of their child. As a second parent to him, I always check him if he is okay in every
learning area so that I can help him.

Designed, adapted and implemented teaching strategies
that are responsive to learners with disabilities, giftedness and talents
PROMPT #2
Design a lesson plan for the gifted and talented learners based on your idea on how they may be addressed in
your class. Your strategies for the gifted and talented learners must be highlighted and annotated in this form. Attach
your lesson plan here.
YOUR ANNOTATIONS
This is an example of a lesson plan that I have designed for the gifted and talented learners
in my class. For the gifted and talented I ask a question regarding the topic and they will explain to me in
their own word what they can understand. Can they have used it for the real-life situation? These are
some types of question in my lesson plan. And also, for the student who is gifted and talented they can
easily apply the topic in our real-life world.

OBJECTIVE 10
Adapted and used culturally appropriate teaching strategies
to address the needs of learners from indigenous groups
PROMPT #1
Below is an assessment activity for a class of 30 learners, five of which belong to an indigenous peoples (IP) group.
Evaluate the appropriateness of the activity to your learners. Write your response in this form.
Directions: For your assessment, research on the following roles in your community by asking your parents or
anyone with knowledge on these roles. Choose from Set A and Set B. Explain why these are important roles.
Set A
Set B
1. mayor
1. datu/chieftain
2. councilors
2. community elders
3. medical officers
3. healers
YOUR REFLECTIONS
Republic Law 8371, known as the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), was enacted in 1997. It has been
praised for its support for the cultural integrity of Indigenous Peoples, the right to their lands and the right to self-
directed development of these lands. They generally live in geographically isolated areas with a lack of access to
basic social services and few opportunities for mainstream economic activities, education, or political participation.
We must attach to the saying “Education for all”. Everyone should be able to build their literacy and
numeracy skills. Based on the given assessment, the teacher should be able to identify if there are learners in class
who included to Indigenous Group. By means of it, we give them a fair treatment and consider the 5 learners.
Majority of the class for having knowledge on Set A which consists of mayor, councilors, and medical officers. The
teacher has a good strategy for both groups in order to do their tasks. The learners from IP can give knowledge to
the whole class about the cultural heritage and way of living in their group. In Set B that is the chieftain/datu,
community helpers and healers are the people who are belong to Indigenous Peoples. In this kind of assessment
proved that no one left behind.

OBJECTIVE 10
Adapted and used culturally appropriate teaching strategies
to address the needs of learners from indigenous groups
PROMPT #2
Design a lesson plan for your class that integrates aspects of indigenous peoples (IP) culture using national
mandates on indigenous peoples education (IPEd) as reference:
• Republic Act No. 8371 or the Indigenous People’s Rights Act of 1997
• DepEd Order No. 62, S. 2011 or the Adopting the National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Education Policy
Framework
• DepEd Order No. 32, S. 2015 or the Adopting the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Education Curriculum Framework
The integration of IP culture in the lesson plan must be highlighted and annotated in this reflection form.
Attach your lesson plan here.
YOUR ANNOTATIONS
In this part, learners from Indigenous group will have to share within their group about the
social issues happened in their respective community. They have the chance to identify the different issue
matters and what are the possible solutions. Their classmates will learn more about the way of living and
how the leaders of the indigenous group solve the social issues.
