1、General

XC-A30 automated Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate analyzer is a high-speed and

easy-to-use instrument. The measurement is base on Westergen by optical obstructed
principle.

1.1 Internal structure:

Power switch, power socket, fan, RS-232 interface, bar code scanning interface,
grounding pole, voltage regulator components, LCD display, touch screen, printer, printer
driver, mainboard, optical detection board、step motor.

2、Sample collection and anticoagulant

2.1 Vein collection

Requirement: The blood collection should be finished within 30 seconds without

blood clot and hemolysis. Otherwise it will affect the test results or repeatability.

2.2 ESR tube

Requirement: Please use ESR tube provided or certified by Caretium.

At the present, there are two kinds of ESR tube in the market::
1) The ESR tube is a vacuum tube with 0.32ml anti-coagulant.
2) The ESR tube isn’t a vacuum tube and the operator needs to add anticoagulant
manually.

3、Sample preparation and mixing

It requires 1.28ml whole blood for each sample.

To ensure injection of proper volume of blood into the ESR tube, there is a

indicating line on the ESR tube. The blood should be around indicating line ±

2mm.The sample and anti-coagulant must be fully mixed before measuring.

(Note: Air bubbles should be excluded from the anti-coagulant blood.)

 Make the tube upside down slowly for at least 5 times, so that the anticoagulant
and blood mix well.

4、Precautions

1、 Do not use the ESR tube if there is breakage or dust around it.

2、 Check if there is anti-coagulant in the ESR tube before measurement; make sure

the volume of anti-coagulant is 0.32ml.

3、 The timing from sample collection to measurement should be less than 30 minutes.

4、 The upside-down mixing should be slow. Air bubbles should be avoided; otherwise

it will affect the test results.

5、There should not be any clot inside the blood; otherwise it will affect the test results
or repeatability.
6、Don’t insert the ESR tube when the instrument initialization fails.
7、Don’t take out the ESR tube during the measuring; otherwise, it will affect the test
results. Reinject sample to another ESR tube if retest is required.
8、Do not insert the tube into the measurement hole during the initialization; otherwise,
the initialization for the hole may fail..
9、Please take the ESR tube out vertically after measurement is finished,

5、Maintenance

1、There is no special requirement for maintenance. Keep the operation environment

dry and clean. Keep the ESR tube hole away from the dust. Avoid direct sunlight to

the instrument. Please shut down the instrument when the measurement is

finished and cover the ESR tube hole.

2、Insert and taking out the ESR tube carefully to avoid the tube being damaged which

will lead to the blood flowing into the instrument and the test result uncorrectly.

3、Clean the instrument surface carefully, so that there is no liquid flowing into the

holes.

5、 Clean the outside surrounding of the holes surface with 5% sodium hypochlorite to

protect the operator.

6、Troubleshooting

7、Disassembly of component and replacement

7.1 Cover disassembly

a) Three screws need disassembly in the rear panel. As shown in figure 1:

b) Eight screws need disassembly in the bottom panel. As shown in figure 2

7.2 LCD screen disassembly

Open the instrument cover.

a) Four screws need assembly on the LCD cover. As shown in figure 3 :

b) Then cut off the band that the blue arrowhead pointing to in the figure 3. Four
screws need disassembly. As shown in figure 4:

7.3 Main-board disassembly

Open the cover,

Separate the main-board's voltage regulator lead-wire with the voltage regulator
components lead-wire that the blue arrowhead pointing to in the figure 5.
Do not need to remove the main-board holder; the main-board is fixed on the holder
with four screws ( as shown in figure 5)

7.4 Transformer replacement

Open the cover.

Prepare a screwdriver, a plier or M7.0 spanner.
Method:
a) There are two screw caps in the bottom board as shown in Figure 6:

b) There are two screws in the bottom panel as shown in Figure 7:

 c) Cut off the tape pointed by the black arrowhead in the figure 8 and soldering iron
the lead-wire. Take off the power plug in the main board and then the voltage
regulator can be disassembled

7.5 Fuse replacement

No need to open the cover.

Take out the fuse with screwdriver. As shown in figure 9
The fuse specification: F250V/0.5A

7.6 Fan disassembly

Open the cover, prepare a screwdriver , a plier or M5.5 spanner.

a) Place the screwdriver on the screw as shown in figure 10:

b) Disassemble the nuts with a plier or a spanner as shown in figure 11, and take off the
fan..

Requirement：1）The lead-wire position is better to be as shown in Figure 11 in the

assembly of a new fan
2）No need to tighten the screws too hard, avoiding the fan distortion.

7.7 Optical detection board disassembly

Loose the screws as shown in figure 12.

7.8 Printer disassembly

Open the cover, pull out the pin of printer data line and power code.
a) Loose the screws as shown in figure 13, then take off the printer components
