Ethics Reflection Paper
It would be one of the greatest things in the world if people could pursue their
ambitions and do what they love in their lives without worrying about being judged by
society. Women, on the contrary, do not have the same rights as men in our society.
Unfortunately, many inequalities hinder women from living and working peacefully.
Sexism, misogyny, patriarchy, and sexual harassment are few ideologies that
associates with gender discrimination and oppression against women of any age an
race. It can be anywhere — from school, work, home, streets, media, and sport. Even
the “Artist of the Decade” and one of the most successful artists globally, Taylor Swift,
still had to deal with discrimination in the music industry.
Taylor Swift’s entire career has been plagued with sexism in many ways. From
her constant criticism in the media and sexual assault to the loss of rights to songs she
wrote and fighting to use her voice to speak up about politics, she has endured systemic
misogyny since the beginning of her 16-year career in the music industry. This often
overshadows her abundance of historical recognitions and accomplishments. The
media more frequently tends to paint her as the clingy, crazy ex-girlfriend rather than
the compassionate humanitarian and consistent award-winner that she is.
If I were a man, I wouldn’t ever let myself take part in or allow discrimination
and violence to happen to any woman. My home, which shines with the light of a
thousand candles, is my safest haven because there are great women who rule it.
They are the soul of the house, and they raised and kept me alive. It would be such a
huge disappointment and betrayal to them if I ever hurt a woman. Women
everywhere deserve to live free of discrimination and oppression. Women's Rights
are Human Rights. In fact, every individual, regardless of their SOGIE, race, social
status, and age, deserves respect and equal rights as human beings.
