Filipino Poetry Analysis Worksheet

The poem describes the legend of how the volcano Mount Mayon was created from the ashes of a maiden who died in battle, and now depicts the area around its base as a growing graveyard as more ashes and people are buried there over time. Various images are used to portray the volcano, including lava flowing down like excrement and the volcano appearing as a beautiful sentry from a distance but ready to erupt upon one's arrival.

Sa ilang retrato na ibenebenta ng mga bata sa

Handa sa pagkapkap, naghihintay sa iyong pagpasok.
