Tunable Optics at 25G (w/self tuning)

Tunable (and Self-Tunable) modules are strongly required by Customers for:

● Simplified installations
● Simplified spare part and inventory stock management

10G Tunable usage for Fronthaul is limited because:

● Solutions with low power consumption are not available yet
● “Fixed wavelength” have already very high volumes and “Tunable” can hardly reach an affordable price premium

Above limitations won’t be there for SFP28

● Both Narrowband Tunable and Full Tunable SFP28 options will be available on the market

At first, Narrowband Tunable SFP28 will be introduced in Fronthaul 6000 portfolio due to:
● Better price point and lower power consumption than full tunable
● Per-band tunability allows easing installations and inventory management to a reasonable level
(up to 48 variants reduced to up to 8)

Narrowband Tunable SFP28

25G narrowband-tunable lambdas

Considerable
●8 variants auto-tuning on 48 DWDM frequencies
(6 lambda tunability per variant) OPEX and TCO
●Indoor and Outdoor optimization
●Same optical specs of “fixed” SFP28 but improved reach
●Up to 15km reach (275 ps/nm) Simplified installation
Simplified spare part and
inventory stock management

Auto-tuning on 48 DWDM Suitable for Indoor and Improved

frequencies Outdoor application Reach

6x25G Transponder Expansion Module
Optical Pluggable
• 25G DWDM SFP28 have been identified as the best solution
• I-Temp SFP28 are the natural evolution of SFP+ and are already available
• They offer a better cost structure (USD/Gbps) than multiple lanes (QSFP28)
• ERS also foresee now use of SFP28 for all 5G Radio

Active Fronthaul Passive Fronthaul
