State Task Force (STF) meeting of RNTCP is held regularly twice a year
Workshop on Bronchoscopy organized in February 2009 as a part of annual state
conference of Association of Chest Physicians.
World Tuberculosis day is observed on 24th March every year by conducting scientific
CME and awareness programmes.
World Asthma Day is observed every year on 1st Tuesday in the month of May by
conducting CME and Asthma Quiz among post-graduate trainees.
Inter- departmental CME on DOTS- PLUS organized in 2009.
Scientific CME on “ Pulmonary Medicine- Past, Present & Future” Organised in

Expansion of number of beds in the wards.
Starting of Tumor Board and Speciality Clinics.
Department of Surgery
Department of Surgery is among one of the best Surgical Units in Eastern
India. The department maintains a very high reputation in academics and
patient care records. Over and above the regular activities, the department
frequently hosts various training programmes and scientific sessions for
undergraduate, postgraduate and paramedical trainees.
In addition to a state of the art ‘Operation Theatre’, where six major surgical
procedures can be run simultaneously, the department has a well equipped 8
bedded Post Operative Care Unit and a 4 bedded Trauma Care Unit, both of
which are manned round the clock by surgical trainees.
Apart from the regular facilities, our trainees have access to Lap Endotrainers
and Lap Simulator.
Undergraduate admission – 150 / year; Post Graduate admission – 14 / year.
Post graduate academic activities:
Seminar – fortnightly; Symposium – fortnightly; Case presentation – twice a
week, Examination – once a month & Journal Club – once a month
Guest Lectures (during 2011)- 4
Undergraduate academic activities include Didactive Lectures, Ward Clinics,
Afternoon Tutorial classes, Seminars & Quiz programmes.
Trainings and Scientific sessions: Inter Medical College Debate and Quiz
competition for P.G. Trainees (October 2011)
Stoma Care Course for Nursing Personnel (July & September 2011).

Pancreatic resection, hepatic resection, Hepato biliary, Endocrine Surgery and
Colorectal Surgery in addition to all General Surgical procedures (both open
and laparoscopic) are performed on a regular basis.
