Microsoft introduced an operating

as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS in
response to the growing interest in graphical user
interfaces (GUIs)
MICROSOFT WINDOWS
Microsoft Windows came to dominate the
world's personal computer (PC) market with over
90% market share, overtaking Mac OS, which had
been introduced in 1984.
As of September 2016, the most recent version of
Windows for
PCs, tablets, smartphones and embedded
devices is Windows 10.
DESIGN ELEMENTS OF WINDOWS LOGO
The Windows logo has traditionally
depicted a flag. Consisting of four
colored window panes or quadrants,
the
space between them made a cross, one
of the commonest elements in graphic
design. The quadrant and cross are
associated with earth and land. The
colors red, green, blue, white and
amber
strengthened the emblem’s association
with earth, through fire, water, flora and
fauna.
