Compression pressure:
Minimum pressure:
D. If the cylinder compression in 1 or more cylinders is low, pour a small amount of engine oil into the
cylinder through the spark plug hole and repeat steps (A) through (B) for cylinders with low
compression.
If adding oil helps the compression, it is likely that the piston rings and/or cylinder bore are
worn or damaged.
If pressure stays low, a valve may be sticking or seating is improper, or there may be leakage
past the gasket.
5. Reinstall spark plugs. (See REPLACEMENT )
6. Install ignition coils. (See IGNITION )

match. When a new connecting rod is installed, make sure that the notches for holding the bearing in

3. Using a connecting rod aligning tool, check the rod for bend and twist. If the measured value is close to
the repair limit, correct the rod by a press. Any connecting rod that has been severely bent or distorted
should be replaced.
