CSC134 Group Project

This project aims to explain why cloud storage is better than physical storage devices by allowing data to be accessed from anywhere, shared easily, and avoiding data loss from computer issues or accidental deletion. It will discuss cloud storage, how it works by storing data on remote servers accessed via the internet, and its types including public, private, and hybrid cloud. The main advantages are usability, accessibility, security, cost efficiency, sharing files, supporting multiple users, convenience, scalability, and disaster recovery. Disadvantages include reliance on drag and drop interfaces, internet dependency, potential security and privacy issues, and cost of some cloud storages.

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this project is to explain why a computer system needs cloud storage that
are better than physical storage devices. Other than that, it also to avoid all programs and data
would be lost the moment it accidently deleted/loss in physical storage devices or the computer
is switched off. Moreover, the other objective is to share information that data will be saved as
long as it has neither been deleted nor overwritten. Lastly, we can understand, discuss the
benefits and uses of cloud.

CONTENT OF PROJECT

What is Cloud Storage?

Cloud storage enables you to store your data on hosted servers. This means you can store all
your digital things like documents, photos, music and videos remotely, without taking up
physical space in your home or using up megabytes on your computer

How does cloud storage work?

Once you have registered and set up your account, you simply save your files via the internet
using your unique username and password. This ensures your data remains safe, secure and
inaccessible to anyone else.
How cloud storage works varies depending on the type of storage used. The three main types
are block storage, file storage and object storage.

Types of cloud storage.

 Public cloud storage allows you to share hosting space with a number of other users—
this is the cheaper option.
 Private cloud storage is the ideal choice for companies who want to have their data
stored in their own environment.
 Hybrid cloud services are gaining in popularity and are mainly used by businesses.
These are made up of a mixture of public clouds - like Amazon Web Services or Google
Cloud - private clouds and on-site infrastructure.

Advantages
1. Usability and accessibility
2. Security
3. Cost-efficient
4. Convenient sharing of files
5. Multiple users
6. Convenient
7. Scalable
8. Disaster recovery

Disadvantages
1. Drag and drop
2. Internet dependency
3. Data security and privacy
4. Expensive cloud storages
