secondary school. Imagine you are going to give a


speech to the new year seven group in their first
assembly. Give them advice based on your own
experiences.
• Get the tone right: be support, positive and welcoming (without being
condescending).
• Use the persuasive devices associated with speeches as well as AFOREST.
• Vary your sentence lengths and punctuation.
