Actor Alia Bhatt has spoken about stars and if their salaries should be reassessed when their films
perform poorly at the box office. In a new interview, Alia said that in the present times, content is
the driving force that will bring money to the box office. She also added that 'stardom comes from
the content'.

Alia's remark on flop films and stars comes a few days after her husband-actor Ranbir Kapoor's film
Shamshera fared badly at the box office. Shamshera earned ₹60 crore globally till July 31. The film
was made on a massive budget of ₹150 crore.

Speaking with Indian Express, Alia opened up on stars in the modern context, “What makes a
star? It’s the love, but there is also a certain kind of star who will bring in the money at the
box office. But that cannot happen now without content, ultimately it’s the power of the
content that is pulling the audience to cinemas. Of course, there is a certain larger-than-life
experience on the big screen which you cannot replace, but the depth of good content
standing the test of time is something people should go for, and do go for. So, the stardom
comes from the content you give to the people.”

Alia also talked about how much a star earns if their film underperforms or flops at the box
office. She said, “I agree that stars’ salaries should be balanced out against the budget of the
film. But then, I am no one to tell anyone what they should charge, kyunki main toh choti hun
(because I'm young). She also said that there are actors refusing pending fees (or returning
money) after knowing that their movies performed poorly. She added, “If you ask me if some
reassessing in general needs to happen, I’m sure all the producers are thinking that way…
Even a star is thinking that way.”

Alia has several projects in the pipeline including her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone. The
upcoming Netflix spy thriller by Tom Harper also stars Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. She
will be next seen in Darlings. The dark comedy, co-starring Vijay Varma and Shefali Shah,
will also debut on Netflix on August 5.

Alia will then appear in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, her first film with Ranbir Kapoor. She
will also be seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and
Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.

Abhay Deol: I had to sacrifice stardom to get freedom to cater to the audience

Actor Abhay Deol admits that it is difficult to stay in the same field and be constantly
pushing to make a mark, and he adds that there has never been an effort or a desire to be
different.

Ever since his debut in 2005 with Socha Na Tha, actor Abhay Deol has walked on a road less
travelled, and he admits it was to find his own identity, detached from his filmy family, and he
admits the pressures and challenges to stay on the path has only grown with time.

“I know I can do a lot more as an actor if given the chance. It is harder to come by that
chance,” Abhay tells us.

The actor, who has strings attached to the legendary Deol clan of Bollywood, adds, “Even
though I did the films I did, it is difficult to stay in the field and be constantly pushing
because as there is a saying that ‘a man is not an island’, similarly, filmmaking is a collective
process.

It becomes more difficult as opposed to easier. You think it will become easier because you
have delivered, but with the industry growing, the pressure for delivering on the investment is
also higher”.

After walking into the industry, Abhay went to find his identity as an actor through projects
such as Aisha, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Raanjhanaa, Manorama Six Feet Under, Oye
Lucky! Lucky Oye, Dev D, Shanghai and Jungle Cry. His choices are sometimes dubbed as
different, unique and conventional. However, Abhay says he never wanted any tag, crediting
it as a consequence of his actions.

Looking back at his initial days, Abhay mentions, “Because I come from a family and have a
last name, they (Deol family) they have an image. When I started, I was fighting to present
my identity and my personality, but the makers were coming back to me and saying, ‘You
have a family that has an image, why don’t you just take advantage of that’.”

Here, he asserts that he still understands that is the norm in the industry, which is all about
being “packaged and presented by what your father or your family have created for you”, but
he wanted to embrace his individuality.

“That was the first thing that made things a little different… Soon, I found directors to create
a product that one hadn’t seen before… However, there was never an effort or a desire or a
statement to be different,” the 46-year-old continues, “That is a tag I got simply because I
was trying to make space for myself and stick to my individuality and authenticity in an
environment which is so much about packaging and selling.”

Abhay reveals he was told to make films for the audience, not himself -- something which
irked him a lot. “I found it extremely patronising to say that you don’t have to like it as long
as the audience likes it. I had to sacrifice my stardom, big numbers to be allowed to be given
the freedom to cater to that audience,” he confesses.

That’s why the actor wants to continue on the same path instead of expanding his horizons as
a director. “I’m open to the idea. I have now found some comfort to have confidence for the
same. The desire is growing even more by the day, let’s see when I take the plunge,” he
concludes.
Ek Villain Returns nosedives on day 4, collects just ₹3 cr on first Monday

Monday.

Ek Villain Returns, Mohit Suri's second installment in his Ek Villain franchise, has received a
lukewarm response at the box office. After recording a decent opening of ₹7 crore on Friday and
registering some growth on Sunday, the film took a sharp dive in box office numbers on Monday.
The film collected just ₹3 crore on its first Monday.

Starring Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani, Ek Villain Returns is a
psychological action thriller that received negative to mixed reviews upon its release.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the four-day collections of the film on Twitter. He
wrote, “#EkVillainReturns Fri 7.05 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 9.02 cr, Mon 3.02 cr. Total: ₹ 26.56
cr. #India biz.”

The Hindustan Times review of the film called it, “painful, pointless and psychotic.” It read:
“Sluggish writing, lazy direction, half-baked characters and mindless twists all came together
to make what could have been a nail-biting thriller, a rather boring watch.”

Earlier, Disha Patani had said that the film is not about "who is the hero or who is the
villain". She said, “It is about the journey that all of us are going through and how different
circumstances can change and make us the heroes or the villains. My character is quite smart
and she believes that being greedy is not a problem. She can go to any lengths for her greed.”

Producer Ekta Kapoor had said, “Getting somebody to buy a ₹200 ticket and watch the
movie when they can watch it on OTT two months later is a big challenge. But what is good
about Ek Villain Returns is that it is a theatrical experience. From the two men fighting to the
suspense, I don't think this movie can be enjoyed unless you're sitting with your friends and
family in a theatre.”

Priyanka Chopra's mom reveals Nick Jonas gives Malti a bath, changes

together as a family to take care of her daughter Malti.

granddaughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, who is named after Priyanka's maternal

Madhu Chopra has hinted in an interview to a news daily that they may reveal her face on her

In an interview to The New Indian Express, Madhu Chopra revealed that she was “honoured”
that Malti was named after her. Sharing more about the naming ceremony, she said, "In our
tradition, the paternal grandfather whispers the name, along with words of wisdom, into the
baby’s ears. Nick’s dad did those rituals.”

Talking about how Nick Jonas is a very doting father and fulfils his parental duties very well,
she said, “I give a massage and Nick gives her a bath and changes her diapers.”
Priyanka's both parents Dr Madhu Chopra and late Dr Ashok Chopra were doctors in the
Indian Army. During her childhood ears, Priyanka spent a few years with her maternal
grandparents. As a caring grandmother herself, Madhu said that she has advised Priyanka to
not allow any screen time to her daughter in first few years. “I told Priyanka, with screen time
at such a young age, your daughter will get "mote mote chashma,” she said.

Priyanka and Nick introduced Malti to their fans on social media on the occasion of Mother's
Day in May. They revealed that the baby girl came home after spending more than 100 days
in the NICU. A picture was also shared of Malti but her face was kept hidden. Both Priyanka
and Nick continue to be , along with managing their multiple work assignments.

Naga Chaitanya seen at Sanjay Leela Bhansali office, fans say ‘make Devdas’

The 1953 film, Devadasu, is still considered one of the most iconic films of Telugu industry.
In the comments section of a tweet with Naga Chaitanya's latest outing in Mumbai, a fan
wrote in Telugu, “Ask Bhansali (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) to make Devdas with him.” Another
one wrote, “Bollywood's biggest (filmmaker) finally extracting our hidden gem.” Chaitanya
was seen wearing a black tee and a light brown khaki chinos in the pictures that were shared
on paparazzi and fan pages on Twitter and Instagram.

Chaitanya was recently seen in the Telugu film Thank You. In his next film, Laal Singh
Chaddha, he plays a key role. Chaitanya had joined the cast as a replacement for actor Vijay
Sethupathi, who was originally signed to play the character. He will be seen playing Aamir
Khan’s close friend in the movie, which will mark Chaitanya’s Bollywood debut. His portion
was shot for over a month in Ladakh. Laal Singh Chaddha is the Indian adaptation of Tom
Hanks’s Forrest Gump. Chaitanya will be seen playing the character of Benjamin Buford
Blue aka Bubba.

Chaitanya will soon commence working on his upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual film with
filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. This was the first project he had signed after his separation from
his ex-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Last year, Chaitanya was seen in Telugu romantic drama
Love Story, which went on to become one of the biggest hits of his career. The film, directed
by Sekhar Kammula, also starred Sai Pallavi.

intolerance" statement and circulated it on the micro-blogging site

Reacting to the boycott trend, Aamir said at a press conference recently, “That Boycott
Bollywood... Boycott Aamir Khan... Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha... I feel sad also because a
lot of people who are saying this in their hearts believe I am someone who doesn't like
India... In their hearts they believe that... And that's quite untrue. I really love the country...
That's how I am. It is rather unfortunate if some people feel that way. I want to assure
everyone that it's not the case so please don't boycott my films, please watch my films.”

In 2015, Aamir had said in an interview, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people
who spread ill-will.” His former wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for saying that she
considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

Helmed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is an official Hindi adaptation of the Academy
Award-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump, which had Tom Hanks in the lead role. It is scheduled to
release on August 11. Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh are also a part of the film.

Suhana is the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri and will be making her debut, along
with Agastya Nanda, and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor. The three
star kids are part of Zoya Akhtar's Indian retro adaptation of Archie's Comics, titled The
Archies. While Agastya plays Archie, Suhana plays Veronica and Khushi will be seen as
Betty. The film also stars Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda, and Vedang Raina. It will
premiere on Netflix next year.

Suhana has always been friends with Agastya's elder sister Navya Naveli Nanda, who is yet
to express her interest in acting. She recently made her screen debut with a commercial.

The Archies teaser was unveiled in May and showed the entire cast of the film goofing
around and having fun on the sets in character, as a peppy song played in the background. It
showed the friendship between Archie and his gang as they play around in a park.

Jung Jae, Jung Woo Sung, Kim Nam Gil, and more. The singer took to Weverse to confirm
his presence at the event and left ARMYs excited to see him come out for yet another movie
premiere. For the occasion, Jin wore a dapper all-black outfit, proving why he is popularly
known as Worldwide Handsome. Additionally, the singer chose a vintage watch to go with
his look, which reminded ARMY of a similar watch BTS member V, aka Kim Taehyung, had
worn for catching a flight to Paris.

Jin chose a black round-neck jumper and matching pants for attending the Hunt movie

innovation in line with the trend and cater to the multiple needs of the men's wardrobe.”

According to him, the dominant trends being seen and incorporated in collection for Autumn
Winter are:

1. Winter wear - Sweaters are always the staple product along with the normal light sweaters
we are expecting , textured, heavier sweaters to be the new trend with a vibrant colour
palette.

2. Varsity jackets - Denim hoody jackets seem to be really catching up along with more
earthy and dark brown shares of the Sherpa jackets along with the heavy parka and the
reversible jackets and light puff jackets.

3. Pants -

a) Drawstring pants and joggers are the new gold standard in pants and the trouser category

b) Jeans are only gaining more momentum – Bigger offering in the relax/regular, straight
and straight slim, also sustainability is stepped up considerably right from the cotton used to
the manufacturing process including the dyes used etc. Also the heavy Canadian tuxedo look
with the denim jacket, shirt and bottom.

4. Shirts - Go for shirt range that offer a unique blend of weaves from grindle to pinpoint
oxford, waffle and knits. The over-shirts range is best suited for any casual occasion. From
the soft hand feel of lyocell fabric, the shirts range will find a place in every man’s wardrobe.

In short, he pointed out that blue indigo denim, denim jacket, denim shirt, over shirt, leather

handloom weaves, we dive deep into the state’s textiles

India’s 15th President Droupadi Murmu

The recent swearing-in ceremony of India’s 15th President, Droupadi Murmu, was historic for many
reasons. And, one of the highlights of the event was her six-yards white saree from Odisha, her
native state, that was complemented by a red stripe on the upper border and a broad green stripe
with triangular spikes on the lower side. While many claimed it to be a santhali weave, it was, in fact,
a baadhi kumbha silk saree with Ganga Jamuna border from the district of Sonepur, Odisha.

“The saree that our President wore to the ceremony was Odisha Sonepuri Ganga Jamuna. It’s
very beautiful and is quite a famous weave of the state,” clarifies designer Anju Modi.
Anindita Sardar, head of design and curation at Taneira adds, “The temple motifs at the
border are ikat with thread weaves of bomkai pattern.” Designer Gaurang Shah informs that it
is known as the phoda kumbha saree locally. He says, “This 3x3 ply mulberry silk garment
has weft lines. A few years ago, we sold these for about ₹16,000 to ₹20,000.”

Handloom weaves of Odisha

One of the oldest and largest handicraft industries in India, the weaving techniques of Odisha
take inspiration from Nature and temple architectures. “White, black, red and yellow are the
most commonly used colours while geometric temple patterns, plants, birds and elephants are
the most common design elements in tribal drapes,” says Abhishek Pathak, founder of
Greenwear, a sustainable fashion enterprise, adding, “There are four tribal communities —
Bonda, Gadaba, Kandha and Kulis — involved in weaving. The Kandha tribe undertakes
value-addition by doing embroidery on the cloths.”

Talking about the Sonepuri saree, stylist Dolly Jain says, “Often regarded as the
quintessential tribal weave of the state, the bomkai or Sonepuri saree adorned with
threadwork encapsulates a world of meaning on its borders, usually symbolic of success and
wealth. The ikat (bandha) saree crafted using tie-dye is another masterpiece that puts weaves
of Odisha at the centre stage.”

Another famous weave of the state is kotpad sarees from the Koraput district. “These have
unique motifs such as fish, turtles, birds, etc. They’re geometric in structure, yet simple. Aal
dye is usually used to give them a unique shade of iron red. The borders generally have
temple motifs, which are done by interlocking weaves using three shuttles,” shares Sardar.

Varied drapes

Every indigenous tribe has its own style of draping. “Odisha is rather creative. The famous
santhal drape is worth discussing, owing to its off-beat treatment of the pallu. It’s brought to
the front of the waist and neatly tucked in. Whereas, the kaccha drape is unique with its
dhoti-esque illusion,” says Jain.

Significance of the weaves

“Tribal weaves are consciously formed to prominently reflect their distinct identity through
the attires. Each tribal region has its unique design, form and colour(s) derived either from
Nature or their mythology,” says Pathak.

What’s also noteworthy is how every motif has a subtext to it, feels Jain. “A striking
characteristic of tribal weaves is its affinity to its roots. From using natural dyes to employing
artisans for hand block printing, it can be safely vouched as a weave of the people, for the
people and by the people,” she says.

These weaves can be found in emporium stores and local markets organised by the tribal
communities. They cost anywhere between ₹1,000 to a lakh depending on the fabric, print and
intricacy of weaving.

हर महीने बढ़ेगा बेड़ा

कंपनी ने कहा कि उसकी हर 12 महीने में 12 से 14 विमानों को अपने बेड़े में शामिल करने की योजना है. उसे अगले पांच साल में बोइगं से
72 एयरक्राफ्ट मिलने हैं. अकासा एयर को सात जल ु ाई को डीजीसीए से एयर ऑपरे टर का सर्टिफिके ट मिला था. एयरलाइन मंबु ई-अहमदाबार के
बीच हफ्ते में 28 फ्लाइट्स ऑपरे ट करे गी. इसके अलावा 13 अगस्त से बेंगलरुु और कोच्चि के बीच हर हफ्ते 28 फ्लाइट्स का परिचालन
करे गी. अकासा ने दावा किया है मबु ंई-अहमदाबाद रूट पर उसकी उड़ान का किराया अन्य फ्लाइट्स से कम है. कंपनी के अनसु ार, अकासा का
न्यनू तम किराया 3,948 रुपये है जबकि दसू री एयरलाइसं का किराया 4,262 रुपये है.

अकासा एयरलाइन में बिजनेस क्लास नहीं

कंपनी के विमानों में एक ही श्रेणी होगी और बिजनेस क्लास नहीं होगा. यह विमान मेट्रो शहरों से टियर-2 एवं
टियर-3 शहरों के लिए होंगे. बात करें खाने की तो यात्रियों को पैक्ड फूड मिलेगा जिसे गर्म पानी में कुछ मिनट
रखना होगा. एयरलाइन में माइक्रोवव नहीं होंगे. अकासा ने कुल 72 विमानों का ऑर्डर दिया है जिनमें से 54
विमानों की डिलीवरी अगले 4 वर्षों में होगी. वहीं, 18 विमान 2023 तक मिल जाएंगे.

 अगर आप अपना पासपोर्ट बनवाने के लिए ऑनलाइन अप्लाई करना चाहते हैं तो इसके लिए
आपको भारत सरकार के विदे श मंत्रालय की पासपोर्ट सेवा की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट
https://www.passportindia.gov.in/ पर क्लिक करें .
 यहां सबसे पहले खदु को रजिस्टर करें .
 फिर आपसे एक फॉर्म फिल करके को कहा जाएगा.
 इसमें अपना नाम, आपके घर के करीब के पासपोर्ट ऑफिस की जानकारी, ईमेल आईडी, Date of Birth और लॉगइन आईडी को दर्ज
करें .
 आगे आपको Passport Seva ऑप्शन जिस पर क्लिक करें .
 फिर Continue ऑप्शन का चनु ाव करें .
 आप Click Here To Fill ऑप्शन का चनु ाव करें .
 यहां आपको सारी जानकारी मांगी जाएगी जिसे सही तरीके से फील करें .
 ध्यान रखें कि कोई जानकारी गलत न फील करें वरना बाद में आपके पासपोर्ट एप्लीके शन को रिजेक्ट किया जा सकता है.
 सारी जानकारी फील करने बाद सबमिट कर दें.
 अपनी दी गई जानकारी को क्रॉस चेक करने के लिए View Saved/Submitted Applications के ऑप्शन पर क्लिक करें .
 आपको घर के पास के पासपोर्ट ऑफिस का अपॉइटं मेंट डेट लेना होगा.
 Pay and Book Appointment के ऑप्शन का चनु ाव करके एप्लीके शन फॉर्म के Receipt का प्रिंट आउट निकाल लें.
 जिस दिन आपका पासपोर्ट ऑफिस में अपॉइटं मेंट उस दिन ऑफिस पहुचं जाएं.
 वहीं जारी जानकारी को वेरीफाई किया जाएगा.
 फिर पलि
ु स वेरिफिके शन की प्रक्रिया को परू ा किया जाएगा.

 इसके बाद 10 से 15 दिन बाद पासपोर्ट बनकर आपको घर Speed Post से पहुचं जाएगा.
