Mid Term

The Philippines experiences frequent flooding due to over 20 hurricanes each year. Areas near seas and rivers often flood even during weak typhoons. As a solution, automatic sea walls with sensors could be built along flood-prone coasts and rivers to prevent flooding by activating when water levels rise above normal.

One of the most common problem of the Philippines is the flood, we all know that the

Philippines is experiencing 20 or more hurricanes every year. Every year in the Philippines even the
typhoon is not strong, many places are still flooded and almost all the areas that are flooded are close to
the sea or river. As a civil engineer one of the solutions that I can see is by building a automatic see
walls/ barricade in all the seas or rivers that often overflow when there is a storm. This automatic see
walls will only be activated if the sensor of the sea walls know that the level of the water in the sea is
increasing to it’s normal level. Many country used sea walls to prevent flood in their cities and I can say
that it is helpful and applicable also here in the Philippines.
