Graduation Ceremony
of the 7th Batch
and
Lamp Lighting
Ceremony of the 12th
batch 05.03.2015
“What you leave behind is not what
is engraved in stone monuments,
but what is woven into
the hearts of others”
Our Honorable Chief Guest of this
evening Smt. A.Vani Prasad, IAS,
Commissioner of Technical and
Collegiate Education, Telangana
Dear Rev. Sr. Philomena Thomas,
Provincial Superior and President of
this function
members of the Management, Fathers,
Brothers, Sisters, esteemed Parents,
Doctors
Faculty of Vijay Marie College and School of Nursing,
other staff and employees of our Institution, students,
friends, well wishers and my dear Graduates of 7th Batch
and the budding nurses of 12th Batch of this esteemed
institution.
It is with profound warmth and genuine
gratitude, I welcome once again each one of
you who have come from far and near. We
are honored by your presence.
Harmony, beauty, safety and peace thrived in the
garden of Eden in the beginning of this world ,
and God walked with man hand in hand,
instilling the true peace, joy and love.
But today we live in a world that is very much
threatened by unexpected violent attacks, sudden
bomb blasts and painful and petty Regionalism,
division of every kind and motivation with self vested
interest, corruption and bribery rule the world today.
An era of touch screen mobiles and
fast communication soft ware,
super computers and fast
advancing electronic medias.
I can say faster than the speed of light rays, yet with such a great
advancement we find that true wisdom is lacking, human and moral
values are eroding. The pulsating human life has become insensitive
matter.
It is evident from the painful killing of innocent children at Peshawar in
December last year. All these leading the human relationships to the periphery
not deeply rooted. We are heading towards quick and easy methods of making
money; even in the world of Health Care System the attitude of human service,
respect for life and human touch are fading away.
Still what makes Vijay Marie stand out in
its 66 years of existence is its record of
human care and human touch. These are
the timeless values and the hallmark of
our Institution and Education.
Vijay Marie school and college have always
focused and are committed to mould our
young students on the foundation of
professional excellence, spiritual integrity
and sustained deep convictions of human,
moral and Christian values.
We aim at preparing professionals who can contribute productively to the
health stream of society, kind and compassionate persons who can see others face
before one’s own, persons who can see the entire humankind as brothers and
sisters of human family. Therefore no matter what the era is, nursing practice
calls for dedication, education, intelligence and skill. This is the quality brand of
our institution.
Congrats dear graduates for as you stand tall and bright today,
you must be feeling elated as you look at your accomplished life at this
moment. 5 years have gone by and today you stand as a professional with
knowledge in your mind, compassion and care in your heart and skill in
your hands ready to serve the society at large.
Though our memories of today will soon be yesterdays, they will forever
live in our tomorrows. So lead your life similar to a dictionary providing
meaning to everyone who refers you.
Continue to lead people to health in compassion, intelligence
and competence, be accountable, provide safe and effective
care. Surge ahead to be agents of peace with an attitude of
tolerance and acceptance of all.
Dear students of 12th batch, you are at the start of this training,
indeed a new chapter in your life has begun, filled with challenges
and hard work. Our profession calls us to be persons of dedication,
devotion and discipline. It requires dauntless courage and strength
to be responsible and accountable for the life of others.
So as you take your pledge today, which reminds us of that great
lady with the lamp, Florence Nightingale, let us resolve to
become comforting and healing presence to those ailing
As you light your lamp from the main lamp, which symbolize the
divine light of God; may your life shine with the touch of kindness
and compassion.
We pray that during the coming years of your training you may imbibe
the depth of knowledge, right skills and good attitudes. May God give
you enough strength and courage, determined will and wisdom, and
the confidence to pursue your studies successfully till the end.
Dear friends, nurses are the heart
of health care, without them we
can’t maintain the health care
system. So do hold all the nurses in
the world in high esteem of service
to the human kind; a most
challenging service to the
humanity, but not given due
recognition by our Indian society.
Congrats dear graduates of
7th batch and the budding
nurses of 12th batch,
life is better when you are
happy but life is at its best
when other people are
happy because of you.
Be inspired give peace and share
your smile. May God be at your
side always, may you become an
icon of peace and a beacon of
light to human kind.

On the strings of our past history:-
The society of the Sisters of Charity of St.Bartholomea
Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa was founded in Italy in 1832 on
November 21st at Lovere, Milan. Its primary aim is to serve the
poor and the needy at all time .
Even today after 183 years it continues to extend the compassionate service to
the human kind. The sisters of Charity of Secunderabad Province is a
Registered Society under the public registration act in the year 1963.
Vijay Marie Hospital and
Education
Society is a unit of our Main
Society.
Vijay Marie Hospital had a humble
beginning in the midst of
Chintalbasti slum in the year
1948.
Today it has grown into a 200
bedded general hospital caring for
all the sections especially the poor.
Planted, watered and nurtured by
our great missionary sisters from
Italy; the hospital is in its 66th year
of committed service to the Society.
Vijay Marie Hospital is our parent hospital, it carries out 3
nursing programmes namely:
General nursing and midwifery course of 31/2 years;
B.Sc (N) course of 4years
M.Sc. (N) course of 2 years.
The hospital also has DNB – post graduate
programme for doctors and family medicine
training in collaboration with CMC,
Vellore.
We thank and appreciate
the management for the hard work put in
for the realization of these courses in our
institution.
Our late dear
Sr. Delphine Rasquinha, a
genius and dynamic woman
with a vision was the
Founder Principal of Vijay
Marie School of Nursing
started in the year 1973.
She laid a strong foundation of
excellence and service that was the
legacy which she left behind and it
continues to live on in the service
which we render today. It was her
dream to start a college of Nursing
but it was materialized much later
.
Sr. Anne Ponnatil, her own student who
took over the torch from her, took the
institution to the heights of establishing
the B.Sc (N) course in 2003.
With the due permission and blessing from then Mother General, Mother
Piercarla Mauri and after obtaining the permission from the Govt, Dr.
N.T.R. University and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi; the new
building of the college was blessed On 28 th December 2005 by his grace
Marampudi Joji, the then Archbishop of Hyderabad, and inaugurated by
Rev. Sr. Romana Fernandes the then Provincial Superior .
Today Vijay Marie College of nursing stands as a
model college for its quality and standard.
At this juncture we raise our
hearts to God in profound
gratitude and to all the persons
who toiled for the realization
of this dream.
