ELMANCO (www.elmanco.com) is an Italian blog about industrial and graphic design that was born with the purpose to seek beauty,
innovation and quality projects.
_a blog list_ is a list of creativity oriented blogs which are akin to ELMANCO.
Over 400 blogs have been selected with accuracy and divided into 3+1 categories:
Design: blogs that deal with product design, interior design and architecture.
Graphics: blogs regarding graphic design, illustration and graphic arts in general.
Cool: those that focus not only on design and graphics but also on the intersections between the two and the fashion and technology
worlds.
Networks: websites that are not blogs but platforms that display user-created content regarding one or more of the categories above.
The chosen blogs come from all over the world, but have mainly been selected among the ones in English or Italian. The only criteria
for selection are relevance of contents, quality of the articles and updating frequency. To be chosen for this list a blog must publish at
least two articles a week, however I did make a few exceptions for very original and influential blogs.
_a blog list_ will gradually expand also thanks to your help! If you know other blogs that match ELMANCO’s criteria write to us at
blog@elmanco.com and after they having been thoroughly examined they might become part of the list.

ELMANCO (www.elmanco.com) is an Italian blog about industrial and graphic design that was born with the purpose to seek beauty,
innovation and quality projects.
DESIGN
“My favorite kind of design is the one that reaches the highest and most delicate balance between form and function. When I feel that I
am not able to say if an object is more useful or more beautiful I know that I am looking at good design.”
The topics that the blog deals with always follow this definition of design. It is indeed a disputable criterion, but it’s what I feel closest
to my sensibility. It’s like a compass that I can use when sailing the boundless horizons of creativity. This means that if I choose not to
review a certain project it’s not necessarily because I don’t like it: when a project solves a problem in the best possible way I consider
it a masterpiece of engineering, and when something has the power to excite you or make you think I call it art. But this is not what
ELMANCO is in search of, this is not what I call good design.
To make this concept clear to myself I chose four among the masters of industrial design and graphic communication to be my moral
guides in this editorial journey. They are the ones that made me love these disciplines and guided my education: Achille Castiglioni
and Dieter Rams who were industrial designers; Bob Noorda and Stefan Sagmeister, graphic designers. When in doubt in reviewing a
project I can rely on their experience. Certainly many others could have been chosen, but these four are the ones who have probably
had the most crucial role not only in my studies, but in the history of design.
ELMANCO
“I am interested in the glory of the past, but what I am most interested in is the glory of the future” Gio’ Ponti
ELMANCO is a project that took off in 2005 and in the years built itself a solid reputation at international level as a cool hunting blog.
This goal was reached thanks to the hundreds of articles we published, thanks to the readers’ feedback and to all the designers and
companies who up until June 2008 appreciated our fresh content, our transversal point of view and our commitment to objectivity.
After a long stop I came to the decision of re-launching the blog in early 2011 in partnership with Mentine agency (www.mentine.net).
It has a new layout and new contents. During the years both me and the blog have changed a lot and the topics have been narrowed
down to meet the requirements of a more mature and specific editorial line. To get an idea you can check out the archive.
