DLP-PE-11 - Week 5

The document provides a daily learning plan for a physical education and health class. The plan outlines objectives to characterize and differentiate between sports injuries, identify ways to prevent injuries, and determine safety protocols. It includes content on skill-related fitness and injuries. The procedure involves students answering questions on types of injuries and discussing acute vs chronic injuries, sprains, strains, concussions and other examples. The teacher will discuss signs and symptoms of different injury types.

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:

a. characterize sports-related injury;
b. differentiate acute from chronic injuries;
c. identify ways to prevent sports-related injuries; and
d. determine the safety protocols during MVPA participation.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates demonstrates understanding of fitness and
exercise in optimizing one’s health as a habit; as requisite for physical
activity assessment performance, and as a career opportunity
B. Performance Standards The learner leads fitness events with proficiency and confidence
resulting in independent pursuit and in influencing others positively.

C.Most Essential Learning Analyzes physiological indicators such as heart rate, rate of
Competencies (MELC) perceived exertion and pacing associated with MVPAs to monitor and/or
adjust participation or effort. (PEH12FH-Ik-t-9)

“Let us talk about Sports Injuries”
Injuries may occur when a person engages
in Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity
(MVPA). This includes physical activities
which span from moderate progressing to
vigorous intensity. Brisk walking or cycling
and jogging are examples
of moderate activities while aerobic dance
or cycling uphill are vigorous activities. On
the other hand, sports injuries are those that
happen when playing sports or performing
exercises.”
“Some are from accidents. Others can result
from poor training practices or improper
gear. Some people get injured when they
are not in proper condition. No proper
warm-up and stretching before you play or
exercise can also lead to injuries.”
