1. summarize the Collision Theory;
2. identify the factors affecting rate of reaction; and
3. explain each factor affecting the rate of reaction.
The class will start with a prayer.
ELICIT (Access prior knowledge)
Time: 2 minutes
The teacher will show a picture to the students about two beakers with water having different
temperatures with sugar inside. The teacher will let the students guess what cup will dissolve the
sugar faster.
ENGAGE (Get the students’ minds focused on the topic(short; question or picture)
Time: 2 minutes
From the previous picture, the teacher will ask the student about the possible factors that affect
the rate of dissolving sugar?
EXPLORE (Provide students with a common experience)
Time: 5 minutes
The teacher will give a short quiz to the student to assess prior knowledge.

○ Temperature: as the temperature increases, the rate of reaction
increases.
○ Concentration of the reactants: as their concentration increases, the
rate of reaction increases.
○ Particle size: Increasing the surface area of a solid reactant by
increasing the size of particles increases the rate of reaction.
○ Catalyst: Catalysts increase the rate of a reaction without being
changed by the end of the reaction.

The teacher will show a simulation of chemical reactions and manipulate various variables for
the student to be able to further understand the lesson.
