Philosophy of Teaching and Learning. Based on course materials, class discussions, and field
observations, compose your personal philosophy of early childhood education. Which theorist
mentioned in the course informs your views of learning and teaching in early childhood
education? Compare and contrast your personal philosophy to the philosophy of this educational
theorist. Describe classroom practices or programme policies that you would create to support
quality programmes for young children and their families based on your philosophy. (400
words) (must be done)

Using Microsoft Word, create a Portfolio that covers everything you have done for the semester.

Copy and paste your weekly contribution from the following weekly activities:
i) Unit 2
ii) Unit 3
iii) Unit 6

a. How have these activities helped you as an early childhood practitioner? (Complete this
activity using 300 words per contribution)
b. What could you have done differently in these discussions? (complete this activity using 200
words per contribution)
c. What will you be doing differently as a teacher after completing these activities? (200 words )

Part 2 (700 words)

answer)
iii) From the various theories and philosophies of major pioneers in the field of Early
Childhood you learned in this course, which four would you say you are most likely to
guide your teaching/learning process in your early childhood classroom? Why is this so?
How useful are these expressions to young children’s development? (do not use any
information from your small group assessment).
Part 3 (600 words)

Journal Entry
Write THREE journal entries about your own attitudes and thinking about: the lasting
influences one of the theorists’ work studied has on early childhood education today; how has
the theorist’s ideas, beliefs, theories, or approach inspired you as an early childhood practitioner;
