One concern many guests have while staying at a
hotel is what happens with their stuff while they're
out of their room. While hotel staff are supposed
to follow certain standards of conduct, thefts and
unwanted intrusions do happen. This video is one
such example.
While TikTok user @arturbo86 was staying at a
hotel in Cancun, he left his laptop camera on with
a motion-sensing recording app called iSentry
active. While he was out, the camera was triggered
and recorded the following footage:

Before anything else, we'll be the first to say it: we
personally found the "voiceover" used for the staff
member to be insensitive and unnecessary. There's
no need to resort to stereotypes to condemn one
man's bad behavior. Poor personal choices aside,
though, this is incredibly alarming and invasive
behavior from the staff member, especially
considering that there were evidentially reports of
stealing from this hotel. Thankfully the hotel
handled the situation correctly right away- the
offending employee was fired on the spot, and
@artubo86 was given a refund and preferential
treatment.
Concerned travelers wanted to know how this
setup works. "Is your laptop open on a table? I need
to know how this works," asked @mcpbskids.
"Yeah. Basically left it open, minimized the
window and turned the screen brightness to zero,"
@artubo86 explained.
"What the H*LL!!!! That’s why I always bring the
minimum, no jewelry and whatever is expensive is
in my purse with me… but a camera is very genius!"
@manonchartrand3 exclaimed. "This is why I
barely take anything out of my case and I always
keep my lock on it and travel with the keys
always," shared @sophiag1252.
Alarming incidents like these keep us travelers on
our toes. You can never be too careful with your
stuff while you travel!
