The third President of the Republic of Indonesia, Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie was born in Pare-Pare,
South Sulawesi, on June 25, 1936. He is the fourth child of eight children, the spouse of Alwi Abdul
Jalil Habibie and RA. Tuti Marini Puspowardojo. Habibie, who married Hasri Ainun Habibie on May
12, 1962, was blessed with two sons, namely Ilham Akbar and Thareq Kemal.

Habibie's childhood was spent with his brothers in Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi. Habibie's firm nature
in adhering to principles has been shown since childhood. Habibie, who had a passion for riding
horses, had to lose his father who died on September 3, 1950 due to a heart attack. Shortly after his
father died, Habibie moved to Bandung to study at the Gouvernments Middlebare School. In high
school, he began to stand out in his achievements, especially in exact subjects. Habibie became a
favorite figure in his school.

After graduating from high school in Bandung in 1954, he entered the University of Indonesia in
Bandung (now ITB). He received a Diploma from the Technische Hochschule, Germany in 1960 which
later received a doctorate from the same place in 1965. Habibie married in 1962, and has two
children. In 1967, he became an honorary Professor (Professor) at the Bandung Institute of
Technology.

Habibie's steps are widely admired, full of controversy, many admirers but not a few who disagree
with him. Every time, the winner of the prestigious Theodore van Karman Award, returns from his
German habitat, he is always in the news. Habibie only studied for a year at ITB Bandung, 10 years in
college and earned a doctorate in aircraft construction in Germany with the title Summa Cum laude.
Then worked in the leading aircraft industry MBB Gmbh Germany, before responding to President
Suharto's call to return to Indonesia.

In Indonesia, Habibie for 20 years served as Minister of State for Research and Technology/Head of
BPPT, led 10 BUMN Strategic Industries, was elected by the People's Consultative Assembly to
become Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, and was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the
Supreme Court to become President of the Republic of Indonesia replacing Suharto. Suharto handed
over the presidency to Habibie based on Article 8 of the 1945 Constitution. Until finally Habibie was
forced to step down as a result of East Timor's referendum on independence. His Accountability
Speech was rejected by the MPR RI. He also returned to being an ordinary citizen, again moving to
live in Germany.

BJ Habibie died at the Army Central Hospital, Jakarta on September 11, 2019. This man born in
Parepare, South Sulawesi was widely known since he served as Minister of Research and Technology
or Menristek in the era of President Soeharto. Habibie then replaced Suharto when Indonesia was
hit by a crisis in 1998. BJ Habibie passed away in treatment at the Army Central Hospital or Gatot
Soebroto RSPAD after previously undergoing intensive treatment by the presidential doctor team at
the RSPAD since 2 September 2019. The man's condition, born June 25, 1936, had improved on
