Concentration by Percent:
It is the amount of solute dissolves in 100 g solvent.
Example 1: 10 g salt and 70 g water are mixed and solution is prepared. Find
concentration of solution by percent mass.
GIVEN
Mass of Solute= 10 g
Mass of Solution= 10 + 70 = 80 g
% Solution by mass=?
SOLUTION
%mass= mass of solute x 100 = 10g x 100 = 12.50 %
mass of solution 80g
Example 2. What is the percent by volume of a solution formed by mixing
25mL of isopropanol with 45mL water?
GIVEN
Volume of Solute= 25 mL
Volume of Solution= 25mL + 45mL = 70mL
% Solution by volume=?
SOLUTION
%volume= volume of solute x 100 = 25mL x 100 = 35.71 %
volume of solution 70mL
