Jassica A. Co attended a 5-day training on SPED content and pedagogy in Cebu City from August 12-16, 2022. The training objectives of building skills and knowledge for teachers of students with special needs were achieved. It provided knowledge of learner characteristics and empowered teachers with skills for inclusion. As a high school teacher, Jassica realized the needs of these learners and how to help them feel belonging. While inclusion is challenging, the training helped prepare for receiving learners with special needs. Further trainings considering each subject area's pedagogies would better prepare high school teachers.

The training and program management team were commended for an organized and
planned event. The objectives of capacitating the participants with the appropriate skills and
knowledge were attained. The delivery of content was systematized as well.

Said training enabled me to have knowledge on the different learners with special needs and
their characteristics. The speakers were able to empower us the participants with the skills on how
these learners can be treated and how to let them feel they belong and they are among the others.
As a senior high school teacher, the training opened my eyes as to what these learners need. How
they can be handled and how they can do things the other learners do. Inclusion of these learners to
the senior high school may be a challenge but the training was an advantage in helping them cope
with life through the assistance of the teachers.

The 5-day training will be essential to our senior high school since we have already started
receiving learners with special needs. It is such a big challenge for the teachers to handle them as
they have not been trained to.

However, it will be better if further trainings will be conducted in preparing the senior high
school teachers taking into consideration the specialization/subjects handled. The pedagogies to be
used may be different among specializations/subjects.
