Activity 5

This document discusses a field study activity where the student must determine the appropriateness of digital teaching aids for virtual teaching and learning. It describes how delivering lessons through various digital apps and web conferencing tools allows students to gain skills in preparing appropriate digital instructional materials. The document then provides an observation guide for peer teaching demonstrations, asking observers to note the digital teaching aids used and comment on their appropriateness. An example peer teaching observation is given which analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of three digital aids used: slide presentation software, an online learning app called World Wall, and recorded lecture videos.

FIELD STUDY 2

Name of FS Student Group 1

Course, Year and BTLED IV-B
Section
Name of FS Mentor Mr. Anthony De Luna
Date January 17, 2022

At the end of this activity, the FS student must be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:

1. Determine the appropriateness of digital teaching aids to virtual teaching and learning
2. Identify the various digital and web applications and its usage to virtual teaching
3. Value the importance of the utilization of digital teaching aids in the new normal setting

Delivering lessons, selection and utilization of various Digital Apps and Web Conferencing Apps enable the learner to gain
competence in preparing digital instructional materials that are appropriate to learning content. Future educators must consider
the aspects of using ICT both as a learning tool within teaching process and as a tool used by learners for their assigned work
and learning-related actions. Recently, digital competence has become a key conception in debates on the kind of skills and
understanding learners need in the Knowledge Society. The wide meaning of digital competence offers the necessary framework
(i.e. the knowledge, skills and attitudes) for working, living and learning in the knowledge society.

students? Why? Applications
and why not?
FIELD STUDY 2

Yes. Most of the students have interest on digital teaching aids because it makes learning more
interesting and fun. Using digital aids are highly engaging, so students participate more in their
classes. They absorb a lot of knowledge and experience excitement within their educational
environment, retain information and succeed.

2. Did the teacher encounter difficulty(ies) in the utilization of the digital teaching aids? If so, what should have
been done by the teacher to manage such difficulty(ies)?

Yes! Now a days, It's easy for students to be distracted, Students regularly use devices for social
media, playing games, instant messaging, text messaging and emailing while online class is
ongoing. In this case the teacher should be connected to his/her students individually, the teacher
must involve their students in class so that their students will listen and participate to the class.
Second, teachers should work or coordinate with the parents (specially for students in elementary
levels) Parents will also be needed to help answer questions and work on assignments for the
online lessons, so it's vital for teachers to communicate regularly with them about what the
expectations for their students are. Lastly, consider new learning methods, As a teachers are
transitioning to online learning, it may be good time to evaluate their lesson plans and tactics and
decided if they are the best approach for students.

Digital Apps and Web Conferencing Applications
FIELD STUDY 2
As a pre-service teacher, providing instructional aids and using various digital applications promote
teaching-learning process more effective. There were various instructional materials we provided
during our reporting experiences. It classifies into two the electronic/digital and non-electronic. In
non-electronic, there are printed photos, flash cards, visual aids. These are a lternative in using black
board and additional in providing a students a wider range of material for their learning. In electronic/digital,
there are laptops with powerpoint slideshows, documentary videos on youtube (visualization learning), USB
for saving documents.

Choosing an appropriate teaching aids whether it is electronic or not is vital to provide a

supplementary understanding and helping learners improve their skills. It should be based on their
needs and the ability level of the students whom the materials are selected.

If you are not the teacher, put yourself in the place of the teacher, how would you manage and utilize
digital applications and web applications in your virtual classroom? What plans, strategies and digital applications
will you apply if you think those apps used by the teacher are not effective and appropriate?

We must make our virtual classroom environment respectful, supportive and productive. We also
need to consider the digital space we and our students inhabited, and we must also need to make
our virtual classroom where learners enjoy to learn and keeping our learner's attention and focus
on our lessons every day.
As a future educator, our plans and strategies in choosing other apps to use if we think those apps
used by our teacher are not effective and appropriate are;
*Set goals and expectation first * We will do further research and best practices
*Adjust the learning experience *Use app that work together
*Establish a system of handling password and login info
