James Walker Moorflex The Product Profile Introduction James Walker Moortiex gaskets set the standards for sealing technology excellence world-wide. Metal, graphite, PTFE, non- the range of gasket materials availabe is as diverse as the operating environments to which they. are subjected, Wherever a pipe or valve is connected there's a Moorflex gasket to ensure the join is safe, strong and totaly rollable - from reactors to heat exchangers, pipelines to pressure vessels. ‘metallic and semi-metalli In order to provide the best in service and reduce the costs of downtime, Moorfiex has established a network of ‘manufacturing and service centres ‘world-wide. This network is continually being reviewed and ‘expanded to meet the constantly rising demands of the energy. industries, ‘Services offered in conjunction with other James Walker Group ‘companies include: ‘Leak detection and repair, Tension control fasteners, (On site repair and installation. Soft Cut Gaskets ‘Non-metallic gaskets in a wide ‘ange of materials (including ‘materials to replace ail asbestos prodlacts) for Standard and non-standard fhanges. Spiral Wound Gaskets Metaflex spiral wound gaskets ‘are manufactured from a v ‘shaped metal strip, spirally wound with an inlay of hilior ‘between each tur. ‘Spiral wound gaskets are ‘available in both standard and ‘non-standard designs. Kammprofile Gaskets Metal gaskets with grooved faces and sealing layers for heat exchangers, vessels, reactors and flanged connections. Ring Joint Gaskets The R, AX and BX series of ‘ing joint gaskets are designed fo™meet API, ASME, BS and BIN standards. Moorllex are licensed by the American Petroleum Insitute to apply the API monogram to gaskets in accordance with API 64 PSLa. Eyeletted Gaskets Graphite and non-metallic gaskes fited with internal and ‘external reinforcements 0 Improve handling and performance. Ze Metal Jacksted Gaskets Widely used in heat ‘exchangers, pressure vessels, valves and pumps, metal Jacketed gaskets feature a soft, pilble filer core encased in ‘metal, to offer chemical and thermal resistance in diverse ‘operating conditions. Multiple Pressure Gaskets ‘Semi-metalic gaskets capable of satisfying the complete ‘pressure range of a singlo ‘nominal bore pipeline - one (gasket fis ail Clas ratings. Machined Gaskets Working in conjunction with ‘ur customers, Moortiex has ‘considerable experience in designing and manufacturing ‘gaskets forall applications. Metal Reinforced Graphite These resiliont gaskets are ‘manufactured trom high purity ‘expanded graphite, reinforced with metalic inserts to ease installation and enhance performance. AM Corrugated Gaskets Resilient, metal gaskets Suitable for a wide range of Hanged connections, 5 MLL Flange Insulation Sets and PTFE Inner Rings for Ring Joint Gaskets ‘Suitable for the electrical ‘solaion of pipelines and pant In cathoalc protection systems {andlor hazardous areas. Custom Designed Gaskets ‘Spacia! designs (and ‘2ssociated components) 10 ‘meet the requirements of Original Equipment ‘Manufacturers. a | PTFE Gaskets Flat gaskets witha high ‘chemical resistance, supplied ether as solid or envelope designs for pipe flanges and vessels. Metagraf Gaskets Comugated metal gaskets with graphite seating layers for heat exchangers, vessels, reactors ‘and flanged connections. Solid Metal Gaskets Fiat and profiled metalic ‘gaskets are availabe to meet allintemational standards and ‘Specifications. Special gaskets can also be developed to ‘Satisfy individual requirements Rubber Coated Ring Joint Gaskets Reusable ring joint type ‘gaskets used inthe tasting of valves and well head assembles. ‘Rubber coating prevents clamage to tanges and groove scuffing, James Walker Moorflex Flange Insulation Sets Introduction ‘James Walker Moorfex flange insulation ‘sets are installed worldwide in numerous pipeline systems, where they perform an ‘essential rola inthe isolation of the flow of ‘electrical current, Moortlex have ‘considerable experience in the manufacture ‘and utilisation of flange insulation ‘components and are committed to proviging ‘our customers with cost effective and efficient solutions. For quality products and superb service, industry puts its trust in Moortlex. Typical apy In order to ensure efficient operation of ‘cathodic protection systems for stainless, steel pipelines, itis necessary to divide the pipelines into manageable lengths. The installation of flange insulation sets at each flanged joint ensures effective sealing and isolation. “The transter of volatile fuids through pipetine systems may resuitin explosive conditions, which could be ignited by stray electrical ‘currents, either from cathodic protection systems or the phenomenon known as ‘eddy ‘currents’. Tis potentially disastrous situation ‘can be minimised or eliminated through the installation of appropriate flange insulation ‘ets at strategic points. ‘Contact between dissimilar metals wil result in accelerated corrosion of the weaker ‘material due to galvanic corrosion. This contact normally takes place between flanges, and can be eliminated by the installation of suitable flange insulation sets. Design concept & gasket styles Insulating Wa TYPE D SETS Utlising an oval section gasket ‘manufactured from a suitable insulating ‘material, Type D Sets fit into a standard AT flange ring groove. TYPE F SETS ‘These sets are suitable for raised face flanges, and use a central gasket which locates inside the bolt circle of the flange. Whilst not being as efficient as Type E sets, they have the advantage of allowing fiting without complete separation of the flange, ‘and may be regarded as “drop in” gaskets. (One Full Length Insulating Sleeve for each bolt ‘tee! Washers for each bolt for eact bolt TYPE E SETS This styl is suitable for raised face and fat flanges. The use ofa fll face gasket reduces the risk of electrical bridging and the ingress of foreign matter between the flanges. This style is available in both full face and inside bok circle versions and incorporates an elastomeric sealing ring in the gasket faces. Appropriate selection of insulating and sealing materials provides a versatile set with higher chemical and temperature resistance. Itis essential that such a flange insulation ‘set arrangement has the following design criteria applied to achieve the optimum results: + The electrical resistance properties of the components are balanced forthe purpose and location in the insulation system. + The components aré manufactured from Insulating materiats wth high compressive strength and good stability. Under no circumstances should materials which ‘express cold flow properties be used, 3s ‘relaxation may occur after bol tightening {s completed, Tis wil resuitin a reduction in the load applied to the gasket and leakage will take place. Flange insulation sets compris the flowing Components which ensure that full elecical isolation is achieved 1 -Gentral insulating gasket which is fited between the flanges. 1 «Insulating sleeve per flange bott. 2 -Insulating washers per flange bolt 2.-Metal backup washers per flange bot. Note: The efficiency of the components may be enhanced by over-wrapping the gap between the flange faces, with heavy duty insulating tape. Material selection How to order 1 Quantity 2.
