Options abound with this interchangeable necklace
by Karin Buckingham Depending on the occasion and
your inclination, this multistrand
necklace can give you a variety of
options. Use similar colors and
materials on each strand and attach
clasps to all the ends. Then you can
easily add or remove strands or
twist them into a sparkling rope.
necklace • 1. Determine the length of your inner
strand (strand A). (Mine is 18 in./46cm.) Add 6 in.
(15cm) and cut a piece of beading wire to that length.
Cut three more pieces (strands B, C, and D), each 2 in.
(5cm) longer than the previous strand.
2. Strand A: String two seed beads, a dark bicone,
two seed beads, a round crystal, two seed beads, a
light bicone, two seed beads, and a round crystal.
Repeat this pattern until the strand is within 1 in.
(2.5cm) of the desired length. Tape the ends.
3. Strand B: String five seed beads, a light bicone, five
seed beads, a cube, five seed beads, a dark bicone,
five seed beads, and a cube. Repeat until beaded
section is 2 in. longer than strand A. Tape the ends.
4. Strand C: String 10 seed beads, dark bicone, 8mm
round, dark bicone, 10 seed beads, light bicone,
8mm round, and a light bicone. Repeat until beaded
section is 2 in. longer than strand B. Tape the ends.
