town of Bolinao.
Topography

Luna National High School is one of the

high schools in the Municipality of Bolinao,
Pangasinan; it is located in the barangay of Luna,
which is southeast of the town of Bolinao; it is
known as a school in the green fields because it
is located in the countryside. In addition, it is
close to a few households in the said barangay,
Climate
In Bolinao, the wet season is hot and overcast, the dry season is warm and
partly cloudy, and it is oppressive year-round. Over the course of the year, the
temperature typically varies from 75°F to 88°F and is rarely below 72°F or
above 91°F.
Population

Luna National High School is the closest high school to several neighboring
barangays, and which most of the learners enroll here. In barangay Luna, there are
three elementary schools that directly enroll here because transportation is easier
for them and it's easy to walk, just like the neighboring barangays of Cabuyao,
Culang, and Tara. That is why the Luna National High School population has
undeniably increased in recent years, from a few students, in the past year 2021-
2022 Luna National High School has 608 students from the Junior High School and
241 from the Senior High School, Luna National High School has a total student
population of 849, as well as previously few Teaching staff and non-teaching staff
have also been added. Currently, there are three teachers in Senior High School
and twenty-four in Junior High School. Luna National High School has 27 teachers,
1 School Head, 1 Administrative Assistant, and 3 Administrative Aides. and a total
of 32 teaching and non-teaching staff.
Cultural Groups
The Sambals are the original inhabitants of Bolinao; however, due to the
abundance of natural resources, many people of different races immigrated and
permanently settled in this area; as a result, the people of Bolinao are mixed. The
people who live here, particularly in the barangay of Luna, are no longer Bolinao
natives. Their origins are different, as the dialects they speak, which include
Bolinao, Ilocano, Pangasinense, and Tagalog. That is why, at Luna National High
School, the students and their parents come from various cultures that their
parents have inherited and taught them, based on where they grew up before
finally moving and permanently settling in the town of Bolinao. But, regardless of
what they believe and how they follow the culture in which they were born, Luna
National High School still provides equal rights and acceptance to all students,
not ruining their morals simply because they come from different backgrounds
and origins; fishing and farming are still their main occupations.

.
Natural Resources
Bolinao is a coastal municipality in Pangasinan Province. As a result,
the people of Luna are one of the natural resources in the ocean, with most of
them fishing as their main occupation. The land area of Luna is also suitable
for agriculture, so majority of the people here earn their livelihood by farming
like growing vegetables and rice while the remaining earns their living through
fishing.

PROMISING
LUNA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
For 52 years now, the Luna National High School has been a witness to
the twists and turns of Philippine education, yet as an institution, it continues
to thrive in as a purveyor of quality basic education to its learners.
Undoubtedly, it remains firm and consistent to its mission and vision to
educate the youth under its venerable portals. The school’s more than 5
decades of fruitful existence is founded upon the clients’ unwavering trust and
support with a deft combination of management expertise and the hard work
and commitment of its previous and present faculties and administrations.
An unprecedented challenge was experienced by the school when it was
devastated by typhoon Emong in 2009. Some classrooms were severely
damaged while some were dilapidated. However, through the leadership of
Ma’am Racquel C. Caasi and the support of the teachers and benevolent
stakeholders, the school had overcome the disaster. The spirit of kinship,
volunteerism, and generosity was exhibited as the people worked hand in
hand to refurbish the school. In no time, the school came back to cater its
learners as if no catastrophic incident happened.
Another major setback that hit Luna National High School and the rest
of the schools worldwide was during the upsurge of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This led to the sudden shift from face-to-face learning to distance learning.
The teachers at Luna National High School never backed down as they
embraced the gargantuan tasks of blended learning to continue educating the
learners. Under the stewardship of Sir Edgar C. Orperia, the present school
head, the LNHS teachers kept abreast with the changes brought by the new
normal education. They participated in different online-based trainings and
seminars as part of upskilling and retooling of personnel.
Admittedly, however, much is still needed to be done to completely
improve the physical stance of the school and strengthen its teachers’ quality
of instruction especially now that the technological advancement has been
integrated in teaching-learning process. It is heartening, though, that the
current members of the faculty and staff of Luna NHS are always ready to keep
pace with the demands of the changes in the education system and its
technology.
With the current leadership that strides along the global education norm
and whose managerial expertise is aligned with the DepEd’s mission and
vision, together with the teachers who have been observed rekindling their
passion towards their educational tasks, the Luna National High School
continues to march on forward with its high hopes to give every learner the
kind of education he/she deserves that is worthy to be at par with other
leading institutions.

Understanding the PRESENT of the Luna National High School through its PAST
HISTORY UNROLLED

Luna National High School was originally established under the leadership
of JULIAN L. SOTIO who served as the school principal. It was located in
Barangay Luna, Bolinao, Pangasinan. During his school administration, the
elementary and high school were still combined. In the year 1970, Mr. Sotio was
replaced by ANTONIO GALE SR. Since its opening, the school’s dynamic
educational environment has continued to evolve. It began with only two
classrooms made up of bamboo, four teachers and a small student population.
As time passed by, the school head and the teachers decided to seek the help of
the barangay and PTA officials to find a more spacious location to build enough
classrooms and to deal with rising student population. They spoke with a man
named FERNANDO P. NARAVAL who generously donated a lot which has an area
of 10,000 square meters. After being in the old location for two decades, a new
Luna National High School was born in 1990 under the stewardship of CAMILO P.
TABUCOL. The school had only two rooms that time.
The school continued to progress and expand with the commitment and
competitiveness of the following school heads: Ma’am Belinda M. Rivera
(Teacher-In-Charge)- 1999-2000; Dr. Ronald Alpon C. Tobias- 2000-2006; Ma’am
Belinda M. Rivera (Teacher-In-Charge)-2006-2007; Ma’am Racquel C. Caasi-
February 27, 2007-September 13, 2014; Benjamin B. Caacbay Sr.-September 2014-
June 2018; Public Schools District Supervisor of Bolinao I, Sir Edwin A. Ampler
(Officer-In-Charge)-2018-2019; Ma’am Mylene C. Frias (Officer-In-Charge)-
November 7, 2019-November 18, 2020; Sir Marlon R. Valdez-November 15, 2019-
November 11, 2020; Ma’am Susan O. Pizarro(Officer-In-Charge)-December 2020-
January 19, 2021; and Sir Edgar C. Orperia- January 2021-present.
Meanwhile, the school persisted with different achievements in the
extracurricular activities. It has winnings in sports, journalism, and even in the
different competitions like Gulayan sa Paaralan and Cleanest and Greenest
School Contests.
Moreover, new premises were added which include the school library,
computer laboratory, new buildings for Junior High School and Senior High
School, TVL Laboratory, covered court and students’ park.
In its Senior High School, it offers Academic Track-Humanities and Social
Sciences (HUMSS) which was General Academic Strand (GAS) for the past 3
years; and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track (TVL)-Hairdressing and
Cookery.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school offered printed modular
distance learning but last school year the school pushed it through to offer
blended learning (PMDL and limited face-to-face).
The school has now 27 teachers who are serving with 849 students.
Students who are equipped with academic skills which enable them to excel in all
aspects of their lives. They won in different competitions and some were
accepted in prestigious universities. All these qualifications enable them to
succeed in their chosen careers and it is not surprising that there is a great
number of them are in important positions in the government and the business.

Throughout its history, the school community has remained committed to

creating an environment in which students are known, supported, challenged,
and encouraged to grow.
