HISTORY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
From the first reporter, they,ve shared to us about how
Civil Engineering started and ancient structures. It is
said that the earliest practices of civil engineering was
taken between 4000 and 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt and
Mesopotamia. In the Historical Structures Imhotep, was
the first documented engineer who built the famous stepped
Pyramid located at Saqqara Necropolis. I don't know much
about the topic but I was surprised about the fact even
before there was already a recognized engineers. These
ancient engineers constructed some of the famous
structures like the Qanat water system, Parthenon, Appian
Way, Great Wall of China, and Stupas. The beginning of Civil
Engineering as a separate discipline may have seen in
the foundation in France in 1716 of the Bridge and Highway Corps.
In 1747, École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées was founded by
Daniel Charles Trudaine. It is a University of higher education and
research in the field of science, engineering and technology. From
the report of Group 1, they've discuss about how the Data
Collections Apps helps us with gathering of constructions fast and
                             more accurate.
In the modern times of modern approach of civil engineering, new
tools emerged that helps the engineers do their job easily. Some of
these tools they use now is the Drones. Prof. also told us that drones
made their life easier and cheaper because of it helps them in site
viewing and cheap because aerial imaging is very costly. BIM
stands for Building Information Model, this provides for better
collaboration which I know based on an intelligent model and
enabled by a cloud platform, it integrates structured, multi-
disciplinary data to produce a digital representation of an asset
across its lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and
operations. Virtual Reality and Wearables are those materials that
are used for visualizing the final space or structure. During
construction, workers can use AR glasses to view schematics and
detailed specs like electricity floor plans overlaid on top of the
building site for guidance, helping them work faster and avoid
mistakes. The most modern tools that I am familiar is the 3D
Printing, a technique for layer-by-layer printing concrete, polymer,
metal, or other materials using a 3D printer to create construction
components or full buildings. We learned about the history of civil
engineering here in our country, Spanish, American, after World
War II, and the present time. Because of my classmate Abraim I
found out that we have a former president who a masters degree in
Civil Engineering and he is former president
                              Fidel V. Ramos.
I learned a lot about the background of the course I'm taking from
the first topic that group 1 discussed. It truly boosted my
motivation and left me in awe, and it also made me feel good
because it enabled me to learn more about my course and one of my
                   all-time favorite is also history.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
                   UNDRGRADUATE COURSE
This topic discuss about the graduates of civil engineering program
to help them prepare and practice having responsibility for the
planning, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of
civil engineering infrastructure. There are objectives that were
presented by the Group 2 that I didn't know until they've shown it
through the power point. One thing that captures my attention
during the reporting was the masters of civil engineering because I
am planning to take a master's degree of science in civil
engineering. There are 5 master's degree presented by the reporters,
Structural Engineering specialized for Earthquake Engineering,
Bridge Engineering, Pre-stressed Concrete Design, Structural Design
of Building. Geotechnical Engineering specialized for Rock
       Mechanics, Geo-environmental Engineering Underground
Infrastracture Engineering, Slope Stability and Analysis.
Transportation Engineering specialized for Transportation System
and Design, Airports, Ports, and Railways, Highway Design and
Traffic Safety, Transportation Planning, Transportation Planning
Laboratory. Water Engineering Resources specialized for Flood
Control, Irrigation, and Drainage Engineering, Water Supply, Water
Power, Water Development and Planning, Sanitary and Wastewater
Engineering, Coast and River Engineering. The last one in the list is
the Construction Management, specialized for Materials Science,
Entrepreneurship for Engineers, Cost Engineering, Data
                             Management
I learned that the highest degree that a Civil Engineers can get by
taking a master's degree is the Phd in engineering. During the
discussion of this report, I was listening carefully because it can
give me some ideas and more knowledge about master's degree that
I'm dreaming to pursue in the near future. My only comment to the
Group is that maybe they can expand more their insights about the
topic but I am satisfied also because they have delivered the
                     presentation in a good way.

PHILIPPINE INSTITUTE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING (PICE)
This topic is mainly about what it means, who are the people in this
organization and the history of PICE. About the PICE, I learned
that it is a professional association for civil engineers in the
Philippines. It was developed through the union of two distinct civil
engineering organizations, one from the public sector and the other
from the private sector. This organization also have a vision,
mission and core values just like any typical organization here in
the Philippines. Based on what I can remember about the history of
PICE, the Securities and Exchange Commission issued
Registration Certificate No.53896 to this organization on December
11, 1973. This was the culmination and realization of a desire to
combine the Philippine Society of Civil Engineers (PSCE) and the
Philippine Association of Civil Engineers, two distinct organizations
of civil engineers in the nation (PACE). The PACE was the first
civil engineering organization formed in the late twenties with the
late Engr. Marcial Kasilag. As I can also remember, In 1937,
another group of civil engineers in the private sector, led by Enrique
Sto. Tomas Cortes formed the Philippine Association of Civil
Engineers (PACE). Mr. Cortes was its first president. The obejective
of both organization is similar, to raise the bar for the profession,
support engineering knowledge and technology research, cultivate
member fellowship, and build relationships with other technological
                      and scientific organizations.
I was a bit awe because I didn't know that PICE has too many
officers and board directors. 17 members for the officers and board
directors of PICE 2022. 6 member for the 2022 PICE Region IV-B
Chapter Officers. 21 members for the 2022 PICE Oriental Mindoro
Chapter Officers. 12 Officers for the DWCC Student Chapter
Officers. I also remember that the reporters made some mistake in
the DWCC Student Chapter Officers. Instead of Angelou Magboo as
the president, the President is Ivan Arbes because it is said that
Angelou Magboo backed out because of some priorities.
