“A Citizen of Egypt"

Egypt is very famous for its ancient history that until this day is being taught to students.
From the monuments of the amazing pharaohs, such as The Great Sphinx, The Great Pyramid of
Giza, Abu Simbel Temples, etc., to the river, to the seas around it and to the big museum that it
has, you will never fail to be amazed in every corner of the Egypt. When it comes to history
Egypt's tale is also one of the countries that will surely give you the best ancient stories. Egypt
was once called KEMET which means “black land", Egypt is located in the northeastern corner
of Africa.

The language that is being used in Egypt is the modern standard Arabic, but many
Egyptians has the capability to speak in English language, too. Majority of the Egyptians are a
Muslim, only a few of Jews and Christians are can be seen in the Egypt. Egypt's capital is known
as Cairo, it is also called as “The Victorious” city and one of the largest cities in the Africa.

Cairo is best known for its center, called as Tahrir Square. Cairo is a place where you can
see a vast of museums that will surely get your attention, such as Egyptian Museum, Coptic
Museum, Museum of Islamic Art Cairo and many more to see. It is also surrounded by lots of
antiques, mummies and artifacts. And because of Cairo’s own history, the structure that is like a
medieval Islamic set design and being near on the Nile River, Cairo is considered as a must visit
place.

Egypt is full of old story that is really fascinating to know, since ancient history, Egypt is
well known, to the inventions they have made, to the philosophers that came from them and to
the story that Egypt holds. Here are some of the Egypt’s inventions that we use till this day. First,
are the papers that is made from a plant name papyrus and inks, toothpaste and toothbrush and
even a breath mint and many more. Second, is the biggest invention of the Egypt the calendar,
they made it based on the sun and moons cycle, they divided it with 30 days and produced 365
days. They used this as a guide for their farming, knowing when to plant and when to harvest.
Third, is the invention of measurements, it is fascinating to know that they used parts of human
body to measure. In addition to that, we cannot deny that Egypt’s ancient civilization gave us a
lot of knowledge about building and infrastructure. From their pyramids, tombs, palaces and
temples, they surely have a high degree architectural knowledge and engineering skills, when it
comes to building.

In ancient history of Egypt, they have their leaders, called Pharaoh. They consider
pharaohs to be the king and the “god on earth” which is the intermediary between people and
gods. They also worship the sun known as ‘horus’ considering the highest of all.

As of this era, Egypt has a festival that held annually, one of the festivals is the famous
Ramadan. Ramadan is the nine months of the Muslim, for praying, fasting and blessing to
commemorate the first verses of Qur’an, in addition to that, Ramadan is done because they
believe that it will bring them closer to Allah and their loved ones that is dead. This is also
celebrated to teach them self discipline, self control and empathy. The other festival celebrated in
Egypt is the Coptic Christmas. In spite of the fact that there is a little percent of Christians, also
called “Copts” in Egypt, living on Egypt, they still celebrate Christmas. This is done by going to
your family and friends house, giving and exchanging gifts. It is also a tradition for them to eat a
sweet called kahk el eid. Abu Simbel Sun Festival, is also a festival in Egypt. It is celebrated
twice a year when the sun fills the innermost of the temple, giving shine to the four statues. This
takes place to celebrate first, the date of the death and second, the birthday of Ramesses.

When it comes to places sight you will never get enough here in Egypt. The Nile River,
which is a must visit place, knowingly for its abundance in resources and abundance in history.
Islamic Cairo, which is their capital and where the events happen. The White Dessert, Egypt is
commonly known for its dessert place, but a dessert white is unusual that is why it is a good
place to go. And other places such as Aswan, Luxor Karnak Temple, Saqqara and many more,
you will surely get amazed in the places in Egypt. And because of the contributions of Egypt, we
cannot deny that even we if we don’t live in Egypt, still, it lives within us.
