दोहा

मात ौी महाकािलका .ाऊँ शीश नवाय ।

जान मोिह िनजदास सब दीज ै काज बनाय ॥
māta śrī mahākālikā dhyāūm̐ śīśa navāya ।
jāna mohi nijadāsa saba dījai kāja banāya ॥
Oh Mother MahaKali, I offer You my head bowed in respect. Please know me to be Your
servant, and grant me success in this work.

नमो महा कािलका भवानी।

मिहमा अिमत न जाय बखानी॥
namo mahā kālikā bhavānī।
mahimā amita na jāya bakhānī॥
I bow to the Divine Mother, the Great She Who is Beyond Time; Your greatness is so vast it
defies definition.

ु ारो यश ितCँ लोकन छायो।

तA
ु गायो॥
सरु नर मिु नन सबन गण
tumhāro yaśa tihum̐ lokana chāyo।
sura nara munina sabana guṇa gāyo॥
All the inhabitants of all the worlds wish for Your fame and welfare. The Gods, human beings,
and wise people always sing of Your qualities.

परी गाढ़ देवन पर जब जब।

िकयो सहाय मात तमु तब तब॥
parī gāḍha devana para jaba jaba।
kiyo sahāya māta tuma taba taba॥
Whenever the Gods or divine beings of heaven sing even a condensed version (of Your praise),
then and there You are the Mother who gives help.

महाकािलका घोर IJपा।

सोहत ँयामल बदन अनूपा॥
mahākālikā ghora svarūpā।
sohata śyāmala badana anūpā॥
Mahakali’s intrinsic nature is fierce or fearful; Her incomparably beautiful face is dark.

िजMा लाल दN िवकराला।

तीन नेऽ गल मPु डन माला॥
jibhyā lāla danta vikarālā।
tīna netra gala muṇḍana mālā॥
Her tongue is red and teeth are extremely frightening; with three eyes, She wears a garland of
skulls.

ु िशव शोिभत आसन।

चार भज
खS खTर कीUV सब धारण॥
cāra bhuja śiva śobhita āsana।
khaḍga khappara kīnheṃ saba dhāraṇa॥
With four arms, Shiva shines as Her asana; She holds aloft a sword and a skull.

रहV योिगनी चौसठ संगा।

दैZन के मद कीUा भंगा॥
raheṃ yoginī causaṭha saṃgā।
daityana ke mada kīnhā bhaṃgā॥
She resides with 64 yoginis; and She makes the forces of duality intoxicated with the
consumption of bhang.

चPड मPु ड को पटक पछारा।

पल मV र\बीज को मारा॥
caṇḍa muṇḍa ko paṭaka pachārā।
pala meṃ raktabīja ko mārā॥
She slayed Anger and Passion who were hurling their weapons; and also as a result She slayed
the Seed of Desire.

िदयो सहजन दैZन को मारी।

म]ो म. रण हाहाकारी॥
diyo sahajana daityana ko mārī।
macyo madhya raṇa hāhākārī॥
In the midst of the battle She gave assistance to Her own people (devotees) by slaying the forces
of duality.

कीUो है िफर बोध अपारा।

बढ़" अगारी करत संहारा॥
kīnho hai phira krodha apārā।
baḍhaī agārī karata saṃhārā॥
Then She made Her anger apparent, and enhanced their movement forward towards annihilation.

देख दशा सब सरु घबड़ाये।

पास शaू के हb िफर धाये॥
dekha daśā saba sura ghabaḍāye।
pāsa śambhū ke haiṃ phira dhāye॥
Seeing this circumstance the Gods became nervous; then She sent Shambhu to be close to them
(to give them comfort).

िवनय करी शंकर की जा के ।

ु का िदयो बता के ॥
हाल यc
vinaya karī śaṃkara kī jā ke।
hāla yuddha kā diyo batā ke॥
With humility Shiva went to them, and explained to them the circumstances of the battle.

तब िशव िदयो देह िवdारी।

ु
गयो लेट आगे िऽपरारी॥
taba śiva diyo deha vistārī।
gayo leṭa āge tripurārī॥
When Shiva gave them the explanation in detail, then the Lord of the Three Cities laid down
before them.

ef ही काली बढ़ी अंगारी।

खड़ा प ैर उर िदयो िनहारी॥
jyoṃ hī kālī baḍhaī aṃgārī।
khaḍā paira ura diyo nihārī॥
As the Goddess Kali shined like a glowing ember, She was seen standing erect (with Her weight)
upon one foot.

देखा महादेव को जबही।

जीभ का#ढ़ लिiत भई तबही॥
dekhā mahādeva ko jabahī।
jībha kāḍhi lajjita bhaī tabahī॥
When She saw that Mahadeva was beneath Her, She stuck out Her tongue in modesty.

भई शािN चCँ आनj छायो।

ु समन
नभ से सरन ु बरसायो॥
bhaī śānti cahum̐ ānanda chāyo।
nabha se surana sumana barasāyo॥
All the brothers desired peace and bliss, and from the sky came a rain of blessings.

जय जय जय kिन भई आकाशा।
सरु नर मिु न सब Cए Cलाशा॥
jaya jaya jaya dhvani bhaī ākāśā।
sura nara muni saba hue hulāśā॥
Victory, victory, victory came the sounds through the ether. Gods, humans, and wise people
were all filled with delight.

nन के तमु मारन कारण।

कीUा चार Jप िनज धारण॥
duṣṭana ke tuma mārana kāraṇa।
kīnhā cāra rūpa nija dhāraṇa॥
You are the cause of the slaying of evil, and in this way You took on the four forms:

चPडी गाo काली माई।

और महा काली कहलाई॥
caṇḍī durgā kālī māī।
aura mahā kālī kahalāī॥
Chandi, Durga, and Kali Maa; and also called MahaKali as well.

पूजत तमु िह सकल संसारा।

ु ारा॥
करत सदा डर .ान तA
pūjata tumahi sakala saṃsārā।
karata sadā ḍara dhyāna tumhārā॥
The entire ocean of objects and relationships performs Your worship, and always they all
perform meditation on You.

मb शरणागत मात ितहारी।

ु
करq आय अब मोिह सखारी॥
maiṃ śaraṇāgata māta tihārī।
karauṃ āya aba mohi sukhārī॥
I take refuge in the festivals of the Mother, and that is what brings me the greatest of peace and
comfort.

सिमरौ महा कािलका माई।
होउ सहाय मात तमु आई॥
sumirau mahā kālikā māī।
hou sahāya māta tuma āī॥
Celebrate Mother Maha Kali; She is the Mother who gives help in need.

धJँ .ान िनश िदन तब माता।

सकल ःख मात ु करC िनपाता॥
dharūm̐ dhyāna niśa dina taba mātā।
sakala duḥkha mātu karahu nipātā॥
Meditate upon the Mother every day; She is the Mother who will remove all pain.

आओ मात न देर लगाओ।

मम शऽtु को पकड़ नशाओ॥
āo māta na dera lagāo।
mama śatrughna ko pakaḍa naśāo॥
Come to us Mother, and do not delay; destroy all of my enemies.

ु मात यह िवनय हमारी।

सनC
पूरण हो अिभलाषा सारी॥
sunahu māta yaha vinaya hamārī।
pūraṇa ho abhilāṣā sārī॥
Please listen Mother to our humble entreaties; fulfill all of our pure desires.

मात करC तमु रvा आके ।

मम शऽtु को देव िमटा को॥
māta karahu tuma rakṣā āke।
mama śatrughna ko deva miṭā ko॥
Mother, come and give us protection; turn all enmity into divine blessings.

ु V मनाऊं ।
िनश वासर मb तA
ु गाउं॥
ु ारे ही गण
सदा तA
niśa vāsara maiṃ tumheṃ manāūṃ।
sadā tumhāre hī guṇa gāuṃ॥
Every day I contemplate You, and always I sing of your qualities.

दया िn अब मोपर कीज ै।

ु ये ही वर दीज ै॥
रxँ सखी
dayā dṛṣṭi aba mopara kījai।
rahūm̐ sukhī ye hī vara dījai॥
Keep Your compassionate sight upon me, and give me the boon to remain in comfort and peace.

नमो नमो िनज काज स ैवारिन।

नमो नमो हे खलन िवदारिन॥
namo namo nija kāja saivārani।
namo namo he khalana vidārani॥
I bow, I bow to She who is the ocean of all action; I bow, I bow to She Who is the disruption of
all divisions.

नमो नमो जन बाधा हरनी।

नमो नमो nन मद छरनी॥
namo namo jana bādhā haranī।
namo namo duṣṭana mada charanī॥
I bow, I bow to She who removes all obstacles from humanity; I bow, I bow to She who
separates the foolishness of evil doers.

नमो नमो जय काली महारानी।

ु मV नyह तA
िऽभवन ु री सानी॥
namo namo jaya kālī mahārānī।
tribhuvana meṃ nahiṃ tumharī sānī॥
I bow, I bow, Victory to the Great Queen, MahaKali; there is no one equal to You in the three
worlds.

भ\न पे हो मात दयाला।

काटC आय सकल भव जाला॥
bhaktana pe ho māta dayālā।
kāṭahu āya sakala bhava jālā॥
You are the Mother who is compassionate to devotees; destroy the web of negativities in all of
existence.

ु ारी अzा।
मb xँ शरण तA
आवx बेिग न करC िवलzा॥
maiṃ hūm̐ śaraṇa tumhārī ambā।
āvahū begi na karahu vilambā॥
Oh Mother, I have taken refuge in You; please do not delay!

ु पर होके मात दयाला।

मझ
सब िविध कीज ै मोिह िनहाला॥
mujha para hoke māta dayālā।
saba vidhi kījai mohi nihālā॥
Oh Mother, make me worthy of Your compassion, please perform all that is necessary to make
me free from adverse circumstances.

ु रो पूजन।
करे िनZ जो तA
ताके काज होय सब पूरन॥
kare nitya jo tumharo pūjana।
tāke kāja hoya saba pūrana॥
For those who always perform Your worship, make all actions full, complete, and perfect.

िनधoन हो जो बC धन पावै।
ँमन हो सो िमऽ हो जावै॥
nirdhana ho jo bahu dhana pāvai।
duśmana ho so mitra ho jāvai॥
Those who are poor, will receive much wealth; those who are enemies will become friends.

िजन घर हो भूत ब ैताला।

भािग जाय घर से त|ाला॥
jina ghara ho bhūta baitālā।
bhāgi jāya ghara se tatkālā॥
Whatever home is haunted by disembodied or evil spirits, will immediately become a home
blessed with good fortune.

रहे नही िफर ःख लवलेशा।

िमट जाय जो होय कलेशा॥
rahe nahī phira duḥkha lavaleśā।
miṭa jāya jo hoya kaleśā॥
Then pain will not remain in that house, it will all be expelled along with all negative influences.

जो कुछ इ~ा होवV मन मV।

संशय नyह पूरन हो vण मV॥
jo kucha icchā hoveṃ mana meṃ।
saṃśaya nahiṃ pūrana ho kṣaṇa meṃ॥
Whatever desire remains in the mind, will be fulfilled in an instant without a doubt.

औरC फल संसािरक जेत।े

े
तेरी कृ पा िमलb सब तेत॥
aurahu phala saṃsārika jete।
terī kṛpā milaiṃ saba tete॥
And whatever fruit that remains to be obtained in the world, with Your Grace all will be gained
and that’s it.

महाकािलका कीपढ़ै िनत चालीसा जोय।

मनवांिछत फल पाविह गोिवj जानौ सोय॥
mahākālikā kīpaḍhai nita cālīsā joya।
manavāṃchita phala pāvahi govinda jānau soya॥
Whoever will recite these 40 verses of the Adventures of MahaKali, will attain the desired
objective, this is the promise of Govinda.
