Our Predictions:
                   About Louis Sachar
●   Born in East Meadow, New York on March 20, 1954.
    When he was nine (9) he and his family moved to
    Southern California.
●   When he was in his last year of university he
    started writing because he did not like the stories
    the children were reading in schools.
●   The first book he wrote was Sideways
    Stories from Wayside School. Even though
    this book was popular, it did not sell
    many copies.
●   This book was made into a TV that
    played on Canadian TV channels.
●   Due to the lack of copies sold, he went to
    law school where he passed the
    California State Bar Exam.
●   He got married to his wife Carla Askew and they moved to
    Austin, Texas where they had their daughter Sherre.
●   Sachar wrote Holes based on his dislike for the summer
    heat in Texas. He decided to write about how it is
    impossible to get away from the hot summer of Texas.
●   In 1999, Holes was awarded the Newbery Medal Award
    which is the highest honor given in children’s literature in
    the United States.
