PROJECT 1 – IDENTIFY AND STUDY A REAL CASE OF ALTERNATIVE WORK


ARRANGEMENTS

Objective: To identify an organization and brief about the same

Organizational identification refers to the degree to which employees define themselves as a


member of the organization and to what extent they experience a sense of oneness with it, it’s
values, brand, methods etc.

Thus, in this project, I have chosen a small organization to study a real case of alternative
work arrangements and also relating the same with motivation concept. The chosen
organization is “Shri Sai Krupa Enterprise” located in Abrama, Valsad city in Gujarat.

I chose this organization in particular because of the following reasons:

 The organization is run by my father Mr. Satheeshkumar M Nair. He is the proprietor


of the same. I will be taking his assistance in obtaining information for this project.
Since, he is the sole owner who takes care of the organization related to
administration work, recruiting employees, managing employee information data,
supervising the work culture and many more which is equivalent to the
responsibilities of a Human Resources Manager.
 To study and understand the work culture with alternative work arrangements in small
organization as well as motivation concepts as to how the organization motivates a
limited group of employees.
 The organization consisting is flexible and convenient to provide necessary
information.
 This will give me an opportunity to interact well with the informant and know about
their employee work scenario well enough.
 The organization is near to my location which provides me chance to communicate
with them thoroughly. I am sure I will have an informative study through this
organization.

About this organization:

 Shri Sai Krupa Enterprises was initially started as a small retail outlet in December
12, 1992 in Abrama, Valsad, Gujarat. The owner/proprietor of this outlet is Mr.
Satheeshkumar Mundayil Nair and was run by the same single handedly with a little
external help.
 The outlet focused on distributorship of industrial & automotive lubricants and grease
products named as Savsol (formerly named Idemitsu) manufactured by the principal
company Savita Oil Technologies Ltd. (formerly known as Savita Chemicals Ltd.),
Mumbai, Maharashtra.
 The industrial & automotive lubricants and grease products are applicable to
industries and vehicle (all kinds) user customers.
 Back in 1992, the organization focused on sales only within 30kms in Valsad. The
annual turnover in 1992-93 was around ₹2 Lakhs. The growth of the organization was
achieved from 2006 onwards where the annual turnover maintained till date is
increased to around ₹4 Crores.
 As compared to 1992 situation consisting only retail outlet, presently the organization
has expanded its retail outlet into retail as well as wholesale divisions situated in posh
area of Valsad where the retail division is named as Umapathi Enterprises (200 sq.
Ft.) and wholesale division named as Shri Sai Krupa Enterprises (1600 sq. Ft.), both
managed by the latter organization.
 Apart from the proprietor, the organization consists of eight employees in total:
 Administration employees – 2 (assistants)
 Marketing employees – 2 (Marketing manager and assistant manager)
 Accounting manager – 1
 Drivers – 2
 Helper – 1 (cleaning staff)
 In 2016, the principal company awarded Mr. Satheeshkumar M Nair as the exclusive
distributor of South Gujarat. Even today, the organization has been valued as the
exclusive distributor as well as developed its customer reach in two main districts,
Valsad and Navsari in Gujarat.
 The vision and mission of the proprietor with respect to the organization is ‘To
provide value service to all the customers around’ and ‘To reach a high customer
satisfaction through the organization’s ethically and socially responsible manner’
respectively.
