Peppermint - Research

Peppermint is a hybrid mint species grown commercially for its essential oil. It is cultivated primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia. Peppermint grows best in moist, well-draining soil with a pH between 5.5-7.5 and temperatures between 15-25°C. It is propagated vegetatively through underground stolons and rhizomes. Peppermint oil is extracted through distillation and its main active ingredients are menthol and menthyl acetate which give peppermint its minty smell and flavor. Peppermint is one of the most important and widely used aromatic herbs in the world.

Next Steps

The price of peppermint oil is on the rise as naturopathic medicine gains popularity so...
Low maintenance requirements = more people can grow it at home and reap health benefits

To combat health risks:

More education on dosage as it not a prescribed medication (Y-Charts, 2022)
