1. Planning Information
A. Effectivity
(1) Learjet 60-002 thru 60-430.
NOTE: For aircraft effectivities 60-002 thru 60-276, Learjet Service Bulletin 60-78-7, "Installa-
tion of Thrust Reverser Interface Box" must be performed prior to or in conjunction
with this kit.
B. Reason
(1) The engine thrust reverser (T/R) system may be operated where one or both T/Rs are not
deployed when they are commanded to be deployed, or, one or both T/Rs may inadvertently stow
uncommanded after being deployed. In which case, the flight crew may not be aware of the
improper position of the T/R buckets as commanded.
These commodities, technology or software were exported from the United States in accordance
with the Export Administration Regulations. Diversion contrary to United States law is prohibited.
Refer to applicable government agency regulations and requirements and make sure that the work described
in this publication is performed in compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations and/or acceptable industry standards.

C. Description
(1) This service bulletin provides instructions to install a Thrust Reverser (T/R) Voice Command Warn-
ing System (VCWS) in the aircraft to alert operators of a thrust reverser malfunction.
D. Compliance
(1) Recommended - Bombardier Learjet Inc. recommends compliance with this modification at the
next 1200 hour inspection or 48 months. Whichever occurs first.
E. Approval
(1) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the technical content in this publication
that has an effect on the airplane type design.
(2) The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has accepted the technical content in this publica-
tion that has an effect on the airplane type design.
(3) Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) has accepted the technical content in this publication that
has an effect on the airplane type design.

NOTE: The labor hours provided are estimates to assist scheduling and planning the tasks given
in this bulletin. The estimates are for direct labor performed by an experienced crew and

towing and positioning of scaffolds, removal of aircraft loose equipment, acquisition of
tools and equipment, training, supervision and inspection.

is provided.
(b) Aircraft out of the Learjet manufactured warranty period / vendor warranty period, no labor
coverage is provided.

Bombardier Learjet within 12 months from the Basic Issue distribution date of this
publication.

3. Accomplishment Instructions
A. Gain Access
(1) Set the battery switches to OFF. If necessary, disconnect external electrical power and the aircraft
batteries. (Refer to Chapter 24 of the Maintenance Manual.)
(2) Access will be required to route the wire from the aft pedestal to the bulkhead receptacle RJ501,
pilot circuit breaker panel and copilot circuit breaker panel.
(3) Access will also be required to route wire from the bulkhead connector RP501 to EGPWS AE438
connector RP1232 (MP), in the nose compartment, or EGPWS AE438 connector RP1232 (MP), in
the baggage compartment as installed, and terminal junction blocks TJ118 & TJ121.
B. Modification of Aircraft
NOTE: For dimensions defined without specific tolerance information, refer to Paragraph 3.G. for
standard tolerances.
On aircraft that install the -801 & -802 kits, begin with Step 1.
On aircraft that install the -806 & -807 kits, proceed to Step 8.
(1) Remove the aft pedestal. (Refer to Chapter 53 of the Maintenance Manual.)
(2) Remove the Forward Mid Access Panel (220AC) under the aft pedestal location. (Refer to Chapter
53 of the Maintenance Manual.)
(3) Install inserts for mounting the Audio Storage Playback Unit and Relay Box-T/R VCWS. (See Fig-
ure 1, Detail F.) (Refer to Chapter 51 of the Structural Repair Manual.) Mark the floor plate "Modi-
fied per SB60-78-9" near the inserts.
(4) Install new wiring. (See Figure 2, for aircraft 60-001 thru 60-293, 60-295 thru 60-306, and 60-308
thru 60-318.) (See Figure 3, for aircraft 60-294, 60-307 and 60-319 thru 60-430.)
(a) Route wiring. (See Figure 1, Sheets 1 thru 7 and Sheet 9.) (Refer to Chapter 20 of the Wiring
Manual, Standard Practices.)
(5) Replace existing screw locks on gender changer with Female Screw Lock kit P/N 7253.
NOTE: This replaces the existing aluminum screw locks with new steel screw locks.
(6) Install the Gender Changer DGB37M on Audio Storage Playback Unit connector J2.
(7) Install the Forward Mid Access Panel (220AC) under the aft pedestal. (Refer to Chapter 53 of the
Maintenance Manual.)
NOTE: On aircraft that install the -801 & -802 kits, proceed to Step 14.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF
THRUST REVERSERS BEFORE OPERATION.
1) Apply hydraulic pressure to the aircraft. (Refer to Chapter 29 of the Maintenance Manual.)

2) L T/R lever to Deploy position.
a) L T/R deploys.

NOTE
1 Fill all contact positions with contacts.
2 Shields to be terminated into ring terminal and attached to connector and backshell.
Shield and pigtail length to be 4 inches.
3 Use insertion/extraction tool P/N M81969/1-02 to install contacts in connector.
4 Use insertion/extraction tool P/N M81969/16-01 to install contacts in relay.
5 Use insertion/extraction tool P/N M81969/14-01 to install/remove contacts in
connector RP1102P1/2RP1102P1.
6 Use insertion/extraction tool P/N M15570-22-1 to install contacts in connector.
7 Use solder shield termination M83579/2-8 with wire removed to cover shield.
8 Break ground wire from covered wire harness near GS156, then route and terminate wire.
9 If installed.
10 The J8/P8 connector effectivity is Learjet 60-104 and subsequent.
11 All splices must be no more than 6 in [15.24 cm] from the connector.
