Young people of this age are born to achieve, they are achievers and are gutsy enough to get things done. Still, on the other hand there are a few who get demotivated easily and suppress themselves thinking that they are incapable or unfit to do anything on facing a small failure, humiliation or a problem. Nowadays, many students are bound by the deception of the devil that suicide is the only remedy for depression. William Carey, a young man along with his wife and children came to India all the way from England to evangelize in a country where he did not know the language, a different climatic condition, insufficient financial resources, and no one to take care of or help him, just because he had a massive thirst that Indians too should know about Jesus Christ and inherit Heaven. There is no limit to the tribulations, discourage- ments, pains and many other disturbing situations that he faced while proclaiming Jesus to the souls in India. Within the very first year of their arrival to India, his family fell sick one after the other. He buried his son who died of illness with his own hands. This impacted his wife mentally and she also died later. He worked in a dying factory and simultaneously started a printing press to print the Bible. Within a few days his printing press was burnt down in a fire accident and he lost his job too. Yet, he didn’t give up and he didn't run back to his native land, rather he continued his evangelistic work for 41 years and he translated Bible in India's major languages like Bengali, Ori- ya, Marathi, Hindi and Assamese. Apart from that he translated some chapters of the Bible in 29 languag- es and also in dialect form. He also published a bible dictionary in Bengali. Also, being a social reformer, he strove hard to eliminate many social evil atrocities like ‘Sati’ a religious practice in which a widow sacrifices herself by sitting atop her deceased husband's funeral pyre. He established the famous universi- ty ‘The senate of Serampore College.’ It is no exaggeration to say that his service to the Tamil language is immeasurable. Despite many hardships and worries in life, William Carey did not see them as obstacles, but used them as stepping stones, and accomplished the work of evangelism. But we get tired of silly matters. God wants us to rise from our weariness. If we rise for Him we can create and achieve vastly for Him! My dear young champs! Think about what you have done for Jesus in your life. Strive to do! Act! God will use you mightily! Run without getting wearied! Rest is a break away from the work you have been doing so far. But fatigue prevents us from moving on to the next level without even thinking about what we are going to do next. We can keep saying that the reason for fatigue is the disappoint- ments, failures and words of people in our life. Despite failing a thousand times to find an electric bulb, Thomas Alva Edison was not disheartened by the failure of his life. On the contrary, he replied, “I did not fail a thousand times, | went through a thousand steps to find an electric lamp.” Our mind, which gets excited when we see success, gets wearied when we fail. Success gives enthusiasm, but failure gives wisdom. PV. Sindhu won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Badminton ‘Championship and won the hearts of all Indians. She started playing badminton since 2009 and the 2016 “Rio Olympics” was an unforgettable match in her life. She became the first Indian to reach the finals of a badminton event and became the first woman to win a silver medal for India at the Olympics, although she lost to Carolina Marin in the event, a feat which she suffered many defeats. She has won silver and bronze in 7 competitions. She has gone to the brink of competition several times and has seen defeat. On one side, constant failures, on the other side, people who mock saying, “Will you win a Gold Medal? Or not?” Sindhu was tired of seeing all this and instead of being paralyzed, she encouraged herself and started playing. She realized that @ S failure is not permanent and won 2g) 20d in the 2018-2019 World T=. Badminton Championship. She put an end to all de- BA 7 feats. Apart from that, she won gold in 2022 Commonwealth Games a and grabbed everyone's attention. With this win, Sindhu silenced all her detractors. Don't get discouraged by the failures that come in your life. Whenever failures and disappointments come and make you weary, look to the Lord. Because He is the Lord “who gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:29). Elijah, who killed 450 prophets of the Baal on Mount Carmel and 400 prophets of the grove of idols who were eating at Jezebel’s table, turned the people who had turned back from the Lord, saying, “The Lord is God, the Lord is God,” but when he heard the words of Jezebel, who said that she would kill him with the sword, he ran to the wilder- ness to save his life. There he lay down under the broom tree and started to. mourn. But the LORD did not leave Elijah, who was weary. He sent his angel and strengthened him. With the strength given by God, he began to do his ministry again. Perhaps you are tired of listening to the words of men in the place of study or work, or you are broken because of the words of your own family, and the life you hoped for is not happening to you. Look at the face of the Lord, as you are troubled by the failure of something like this in your life. According to the words, “And they looked and became bright; Their faces are not ashamed” (Psalm 34:5), just as the Lord raised up Elijah, who was weary and incapacitated, and made him run again, will also strengthen you to reach your destiny. When we face struggles and failures in our lives, the devil brings us weariness and makes our soul weary. But “the Lord will satiate the weary soul, and replenish every sorrowful soul” (jer. 31:25). My dear youngsters! Are you tired of disappointments and failures in your life? Are you worried about your future every day? Don’t panic! No matter how many struggles and sufferings you face in life, do not give way to Weariness. Confess that “I have the strength to do all things through Christ, who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Your weariness will be removed and you will be filled with new strength. Look unto Jesus in all the situations, and He will strengthen you! ™ SER oras eye) Lazarus ete ice “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). God does not see our face, when we pray. He sees our heart, but men look at the face. Our Lord is the one who examines, what our heart thinks, what kind of ideas come into our heart and how our heart is. Why does God look at the heart? The Bible says “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked” (Jere- miah 17:9)” That's why God examines our heart. “Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear” (Isaiah 29: 1, 2). You seek the Lord with a whole and desperate heart, but you are holding onto your sin and searching Him. The Lord is near you but you are unable to see Him, encounter Him, nor hear Him. Why? Because your sins hide His face. Doctors generally scan our hearts and tell us how a man’s heart work and how it beats. We can see it. But can the doctor take a scan and show the sins inside? Only he Holy Spirit can do it. We must make room for the Spirit to examine us. The psalmist says, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23,24). When the Holy Spirit scans our heart we'll know whether we carry pride, irritation, lust and anger inside us. The Bible says “For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immo- rality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, de- ceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and fol- ly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person” (Mark 7:21-23) and these are the sins that hide the face of Jesus. How to find them out? We need to surrender ourselves in the presence of God and allow the Holy Spirit to examine us. He will ask you to confess the sins that the Spirit shows you. During the early days of my ministry, One day | was fasting and praying as usual for the sermon, An hour or two passed, but | could not feel the presence of God. | could not even feel that the Lord was near me. How can the Lord speak to me without feeling His, presence? How can | hear His voice? There was a big dilemma in me. | started to praise, sing and pray but still | could not find any change. Realizing that something has gone wrong, | asked God, “Why do you refuse to talk to me, Lord? Why can’t | feel your presence? How can | preach without you speaking? Please speak to me Lord”. After two hours the Lord began to speak. The Lord said though you are saved, anointed, speak tongues, sing and praise, you still have a bitterness deep inside your heart. He told me that I have 2 grudge over a person who spoke wrong about me in the church. | never fought with that person nor ar- gued. But whenever | see him, | always had that bitterness over him that he is the one who spoke wrong about me. God scanned my heart and showed me this. When God pointed out this in me, | realized it from the bot- tom of my heart and confessed to the Lord. God asked me to go and reconcile with that person. It was a difficult task to do. But since | wanted God to speak to me, | went to that person's house and knocked at the door. When he opened the door, he angrily asked me, “Why have you come?” | said, “Forgive me!” We never fought and never argued with each other. But deep inside our hearts we both know that there is a division within. | apologized to him saying that “| have a grudge against you, forgive me.” He held my hands and started crying. The Lord again built a good fellowship between us. When | returned home and knelt down to pray, the Lord came down and spoke to me saying, “Since you obeyed me, | will come and stand amidst the people in the meeting today” and re- vealed the miracles that will take place. The Lord performed great miracles just as He had said. The Lord speaks when there is holiness that the Lord expects. Commit yourself to holiness so that it is not destroyed in your work place, home and in Youth Life October 2022 streets. Blessed are the ones pure in heart. When we read Acts 2: 46, 47, it is written that the an- cient church believers were glad and pure in their hearts. They do not speak about others. They do not have jealousy. They do not know to talk ill about another person. They were pure in their hearts. That’s why God was with them and used them mightily for the revival God wants us to be like children. Though kids fight for a moment, the next moment they stand together holding hands with each other. Children are pure. We need such kind of heart in us. When we meditate the word of God, we will know the amount of sins we have in us. We will know how pure we should be. Pray and ask God for such a pure heart. Examine your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to examine as well. Scrutinize yourself under the light of the Holy Spirit. Many things that are correct in the view of the world may be wrong in the sight of God. It might be wrong as per the word of God. We should give space to that light. We need to surrender ourselves to that holiness and allow the Spirit to examine us. Only then we can live close to Him. My dear youths! The ones pure in heart can encounter God, says the Lord. How to cleanse your heart? No matter how hard you try, do you think you can’t let go of some sins? Only the blood of Jesus can wash away all our sins. Surrender your heart to the Lord for He will cleanse it. Not only that, He even says that He is the only One who can cleanse us. Only when Jesus cleanses us we can live a pure and holy life. With our efforts we cannot live a holy When we pray to wash us with His blood and invite Him to stay in our heart, He will make our heart pure! Youth Life October 2022 Everyday thousands of people were saved and add- ed to the church right from the day of Pentecost. The Bible says in Acts 4:32, “now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” It is also mentioned that many sold their possessions and lands. Ananias and Saphira lived amongst such people who were selfless and did not keep anything for themselves. Though Ananias and Sapphira lived in such a time, their hearts were not like other believers. Their hearts were filled with Satan (Acts 5:3). They also sold their land on their part, but they did not give the entire cost rath- er they kept a part of it for themselves. The reason behind it was selfishness and that led to the beginning of their destruction. No matter how long we pray for revival, fast, or take part in revival meetings, if we do not die to the self in us and if we serve the Lord for the sake of name and fame then God can- not use us for revival. Youngsters! Is there selfishness in us as we are chosen for this end time revival? _ Let us analyze ourselves and sur- render to God for our self to become ashes. HYPOCRISY! Believers sold their lands and possessions, and all the proceeds were laid at the apostles’ feet. Many would have appreciated those who saw what the believers did. Not only that, may be that entire city would have spoken about them. Having watched all these, may be Ananias also wanted people to talk about him and appreciate him. So, he sold his land and gave only half of the proceeds, But he showed off as if he brought all his proceedings. The intention behind him bringing the offering was purely for people to see and praise him but never for the Lord. This is hypocrisy. When Jesus rebuked the Sadducees and the Pharisees, He used the word hypocrites. God hates the sin of hypocrisy. Having sin and evil within and showing off as a good person out- wardly is hypocrisy. Because of Ananias hypoc- risy, God’s anger came against him. Youngsters! How is your heart? If you have sin within and show off as a holy person on the Youth Life October 2022 7 outside then it means you are deceiving yourself, not others. Therefore, let us make use of this opportunity to repent. LYING AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT Ananias brought the proceeds of selling his land and gave it to Peter. He showed as if he was giving sac- rificially before others. But the Holy Spirit revealed the hypocrisy of Ananias because Ananias did not lie to man but to God (Acts 5:4). Our God searches hearts, and nothing is hidden from Him. Be- cause he lied against the Holy Spirit, he fell and died there. Fol- lowing which, his wife Sapphira also came looking for him, lied against the Holy Spirit and received the same punishment. Though Ananias and Sapphira saw and experienced the revival they couldn't stand firm till the end. our Dear youngsters! When we superficially read the story of Ananias and Sapphira, we may wonder why such a severe punishment for a lie. As you read this article, think about it if terms of scriptures, whether the things you do.are pleasing to God or not? Godwill make us aware of the self, pride, hypocrisy, and oth- er sins within us that hinder the revival and will help us to get rid of them. Let us meet another person in the Red Alert area next month... Youth Life October 2022 Blind Bartimaeus When Jesus visited Jerusalem via Jericho for the last time before his crucifix- jon, a blind man named Bartimaeus was begging along the way. Its not known how many years he has been blind. But when he heard the good news that Jesus was coming, he decided to meet Jesus somehow. Hearing that Jesus was approaching, he began to cry out, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.’ The disciples who came with Jesus rebuked Bartimaeus. But he did not give up and cried out even more, "Son of David, have mercy on me! Those who came with Jesus could not stop him from shouting. Jesus heard his call and told to bring him. On hearing this, he threw his cloak aside, jumped to his feet, and came to Jesus. Jesus asked “what shall | do for you?" The blind man said, “Rabbi, | want to see’”“Go, your faith has healed you’ said Jesus. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus. (Mark 10: 46-52) Dear youngsters! Bartimaeus didn’t get weary when the disciples rebuked him. He was firm in his resolve to meet Jesus and received his eyesight by faith. You might be weary after failing so many times. Knowing this, David was filled with grief and wept until he had no strength to weep (1 Sam. 30:4), and his men tried to stone him. Ziklag caused great weariness to David. David's unbelief and self-will made him weary though he was anointed. Dear Youths! If you act in unbelief or self-willedness, you might end up weary like David. David consulted everything with God. When Jesus’ ascension was completed, people were worried that there would beno one left to perform miracles of healing. The lame man who sat near the entrance of the ‘Church also had a similar thought. He saw Peter and John entering the church at three o'clock in the eve- ning, which was the ninth hour of prayer, and asked for alms. In the lame man’s mind, “Alas! If only Je- sus had been on this earth, | would have met Him and got healed. | have heard from many people about His healing power. | have missed Him!” Perhaps there might have been a longing in his heart. Maybe that’s the reason why Peter asked him to look at them and the beggar would have witnessed the Jesus he was longing for in them, through his spiritual eyes. Or he might have thought, “Only Jesus can heal people, what can these two disciples do?” But when Peter asked him to look at them” he obeyed. “In My name, they will lay hands on the sick, and they 22 Zea will recover.” (Mark 16:17,18) Going by this verse, so that the word of Jesus may be fulfilled, as soon as Peter lifted him up and said, “Get up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth”, immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he sprang to his feet for the first time in his life. What a joy! This was the first miracle performed by the disciples of Jesus after his ascen- sion. Peter dispelled the longing of the people that they would never see the miracle of Jesus again. While all the people were in awe, Peter said that he did not make the lame man walk becalise of his own power and self-devo- tion, but because of the name of Jesus, The name that is above all names. Peter glorifying Jesus by saying this shows his true discipleship. Peter and Aeneas (Acts 9:32-35) Apart from the ministries of Gospel, warning, miraculous healing, and revival Peter went to the saints living in the town of Lydda to do the istry of house visit. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years and was par- alyzed. Without telling him “let me heal you,” he instead told, “let you be healed in the name of Jesus,” and made him get up from his bed, glorify- ing God's ame. Through this miracle people in Lydda and Sharon turned towards Christ (Acts 9:35). Peter and Tabitha (Acts9:36-42) In the city of Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, which is translated as Dorcas, She was full of goodness and charitable deeds. Scripture does not mention that she preached to anyone. But she followed the teachings of Jesus and re- flected Him throughout her life. When she fell ill and died, her benefac- tors could not bear her loss. None of the other disciples gathered there and tried to perform a mir- acle in the name of Jesus. So, their minds sought the help of Peter. Since Joppa is near Lydda (ten miles apart according to schol- ars) they sent two men to Peter to call him who was there to come to them without delay. Pe- ter realised the gravity of the situation and read- ily went along with them. The widows surround- ing Peter showed him the robes and garments made by Tabitha, with an expectation that, “Won't he do something? Just like Jesus asked everyone to stay outside while resurrecting Jarius’ daughter (Mark 5:40), Peter asked the people there to leave the place. Peter’s words and opened her eyes and sat look- ingat Peter. Then he gave her his hands and lifted her up. He then called the saints and the widows who were waiting outside, and presented her alive to meet their expectations. This news spread across the city of Joppa and everyone believed in Christ. Even though Peter was illiterate, he preached without any microphone and added 3000, 5000. souls to the church. Now, by Peter's miraculous gift of healing, men and women‘from town to town without any advertisement became be- lievers and were added to the Lord in great numbers. They trusted his healing powers so much that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall ‘on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they’ were all healed, (Acts 5:14-16) and none of them left disappointed. Peter made the verse, “He who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do,” (John 14:12) a reality. The entire Jerusalem and nearby towns were blessed be- cause of one man of God. The journey of Peter will continue... We would feel burnt- cout at times, We feel exhausted while we are out in the sun for a long time, when we exercise or spend time playing. How do we han- dle the situation? Apparently we would sit in the shade for some time, drink some cold water or re- freshing cold drinks. Dear friends, just as we experience fatigue in our body, so too in our soul from time to time we get wearied due to the situ- ations we face. Leet us meditate on the ways to tack- le the weariness through God's word. In this world it’s hard to find a person who has not been weary. People, when they are weary, they ~ usualy deal with the stress in two ways. Some people drown them- selves in that fatigue, thinking that their lives are meant to be wrecked and live their entire lives in the mis- ery of weariness. Others don't give in to weariness, but strive moving forward in spite of that. We being each participant of the race, water is provided when needed. At particu- lar distances water bottles are placed in tents for the participants to drink. Dear friends, our life is like that of a marathon race. We cannot run the race alone. We need God. We must run with God. There can be various reasons for weariness at different points in life for youngsters like you. Some of them are that fall- ing irreversibly into a particular sinful habit over and over again, constantly praying for something but not re- ceiving any reply, expecting your parents to understand you, and not having it and problems in relation- ships leads to spiritual exhaustion But, my dear friends! Apart from this, | would like to Point out to you an important portion from the Bible where itis spoken about Jesus. Though there are many characters in the Bible representing various good deeds, but Jesus is our primary role model. The scriptures tell us how Jesus endured his fatigue that was before Him, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set be- fore Him endured the cross, de- spising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and dis- couraged in your soul: (Hebrews 12:1-3). Dear brother and sister!
