INTRODUCTION
Hai,Assalamualaikum, my name is Nuriman Husna Binti Mohd Rizal.I am a student who is
continuing my studies at UITM Kedah,Campus Sungai Petani.I am Study in the field of
business which is the course is diploma of Business studies. So I would like to tell a little bit
information about me.I was born at Perlis and stay at Alor Setr,Kedah.I only have 2 siblings
and I am the first one.I was born on 21th of April 2004 at Hospital Kangar. My secondary
school in Maktab Mahmud Pokok Sena,Kedah.I hope that I will pass all the subject I am take
with flying colours. My purpose in creating this portfolio is to introduce students to ued102
soft skills. Soft skills are non-technical skills that relate to how you work. They include how
you interact with colleagues, how you solve problems, and how you manage your work.

TOPIC 1:GETTING READY TO LEARN
Have you ever wondered about the difference between school and university? Being
a university student is not as easy as you think. They need to take a long time to adapt
themselves to the new environment. In the university world it is not the same as the old
school days where university students have to getting used to new changes in
atmosphere, learning style, lifestyle and others.
At your school there is a teacher who manages all your learning and you just have to
follow the schedule given. For example your meal time is the same time every day and you
have a set class and you do not have any choice over it.At university there is much more
flexibility about your choice of electives, class times, the type of resources you have access
to and sport and social groups you can join. So, make sure you are alert with your schedule
to avoid missing out on class.
At uni you have to be responsible for managing your own study time.Unlike school,
the lecture will not check whether your schoolwork is ready or not, remind you when to
submit and so on.It is up to you, how and when you want to learn. Most of the schedule was
created by yourself and you must know how to arrange your study timetable to ensure all the
task and assignment that lecturer give will be done on the right time.

1.1 LEARNING INVENTORY
Learning styles refer to a range of theories that aim to account for differences in
individuals' learning. Although there is ample evidence that individuals express
personal preferences for how they prefer to receive information, few studies have
found any validity in using learning styles in education. Many theories share the
proposition that humans can be classified according to their "style" of learning,
but differ in how the proposed styles should be defined, categorized and
assessed.A common concept is that individuals differ in how they learn.
There are three types of learning style that might be our own learning style which
is Auditory, Visual, and kinaesthetic style. Auditory learners take in information
through listening and speaking. To fully comprehend certain details, these
learners prefer to hear instructions and, sometimes, verbally repeat them. These
accounting and finance professionals best absorb information when they see the
material being presented. They also often associate certain subjects, ideas and
tasks with images. Tactile, or kinesthetic, learners are “doers.” They can read or
listen to information all day long, but for it to really sink in they prefer firsthand
experience with practical applications. They take the term “hands-on” literally.

TOPIC 2: GOAL SETTING
What do you understand about goals?
A goal is an objective or target that someone is trying to reach or achieve. Goal
is also the end point of a race or something that a player is trying to put an object into as part
of a game. Goal has other senses as a noun. A goal is an aim or objective that you work
toward with effort and determination.
What a SMART goals?
Goals are part of every aspect of business/life and provide a sense of
direction, motivation, a clear focus, and clarify importance. By setting goals, you are
providing yourself with a target to aim for.

TOPIC 3: TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION SKILLS
Have you ever wondered how it is that some people seem to have enough time to do
everything that they want to, whereas others are always rushing from task to task, and never
seem to finish anything?
Time management is the ability to use your time productively and efficiently. You could also
think of it as the art of having time to do everything that you need, without feeling stressed
about it. It sounds simple, but it is much harder in practice. This page explains some of the
principles behind good time management.
12
HOW TO MANAGE TIME AS A UNIVERSITY STUDENT?
1)Create a life schedule
Whether it’s a pin-up planner, a timetable or a calendar on your phone, find an organizing
tool that works well for you and add your list of priorities to it. There are many time
management apps that can help with this. Also, think about when you are most alert, so that
you can plan your study periods around these times.
2)Set a time
Try setting a timer for half an hour so that you work solidly until the buzzer goes and then
take a 15-minute break. Get up and walk around your room for a few minutes, do some
stretches, make yourself a cup of tea and getting away from your books even for a few
minutes can help you feel refreshed.
3)Limit distractions
And by distractions I mean your phone. Put it somewhere you can’t reach and you’ll be
amazed at how much you get done when you aren’t scrolling through Instagram or Twitter
every five minutes.
4)Timetable
Do you own timetable so that you can motere responbility with you own time.

TOPIC 5:MEMORY,LEARNING AND IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
Memory is defined as the ability to recall the past experience. It is also defined as retention of
learned materials. Some memories remain only for fer seconds.Others last for
hours,days.months or years together.
1.SENSORY MEMORY
Sensory memory is a very short-term,but large capacity memory source. One way to
think of this memory type is like the start of your memory. It is when you take in everything
around you before transmitting a portion of what you see to short-term memory.Sensory
memory have 3 types which is visual memory, auditory memory and touch memory
2.SHORT-TERM MEMORY
Short-term memory is also known as working memory. Short-term memory allows
recall for a period of several seconds to a minute without rehearsal. Its capacity, however, is
very limited.
3.LONG-TERM MEMORY
The storage in sensory memory and short-term memory generally has a strictly
limited capacity and duration, which means that information is not retained indefinitely. By
contrast, while the total capacity of long-term memory has yet to be established, it can store
much larger quantities of information.
