Internet and Email

Q1.Short Terms-
a. Web page- The pages that make up the World Wide Web are known as
webpages. A webpage is created using a language called HTML
b. Website- A location on the web server is called Website. A website is a
collection of related pages linked to one another.
c. Web Browser- It is a software that allows you to open and see the contents
of a website, webpages on your computer.
d. HTTP- HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. It is a protocol used to
access the data on the World Wide Web (www). The HTTP protocol can be
used to transfer the data in the form of plain text, hypertext, audio and video.
e. URL- A URL is the address of a webpage or any other resources on the
World Wide Web.
Eg.- https://www.google.co.in
f. Homepage- It is the main or first page for a particular website.

Q2. What do you understand by the term Internet? Write two uses of it.
Ans- A network is a group of computer and other objects which are connected
to each other with wires, satellites etc. When many such networks across the
globe are connected to each other for communication, it is called Internet.
Uses of Internet-
a. The Internet can be used to search and access information on any topic.
b. Companies use the Internet to advertise and sell their products.
c. Universities offer online courses in which the classes are conducted over the
Internet.
d. The Internet is used by people to pay bills, operate bank accounts and book
tickets.

Q3. What do you mean by Cyberthreat? Name few potential cyberthreats.


Ans- A cyberthreat refers to anything that has the potential to cause serious harm
to a computer system. A cyberthreat is something that may or may not happen,
but has the potential to cause serious damage.
Cyberthreats can lead to attacks on computer systems, networks and more.
Few potential cyberthreats are-
a. Cyberbullying
b. Hacking
c. Phishing

Q4. Explain the term Email. Write any two advantages of an email.
Ans- Email stands for Electronic Mail, is a medium to send and receive
messages over a computer network.
Advantages of an email-
a. Speed- An email is sent within a fraction of seconds.
b. Convenience- You can draft and send an email at your own convenience.

Q5. Write about the fields required to be filled while composing an Email.
Ans- The following fields are required to be specified while composing an
email.
Field Description
To The To field indicates the recipient’s
email address
Cc Cc stands for carbon copy.
Bcc Bcc stands for blind carbon copy
Subject The Subject field indicates the purpose
or topics of an email.
Message box It contains the main content of an email
message.
