White Dolphin
Author (Introduction):
Gill Lewis is an author in the U.K. who has written many books,
most based on her love for nature. Gill Lewis’s second novel
focuses on a child who is passionate about wildlife and the
environment, and who is helped through emotional trauma by
saving a particularly wild creature. The story is about an injured
white dolphin calf.
The Place and timing:
The setting of the white dolphin is basically a fishing town that
has no direct name. It runs on the fish it gets from the bay it is
next to. The time is not specified in any way, except that it is
in the slight past where there are laptops and modern filming.
Conflict:
The main issue in the story is that Kara needs to protect the
reefs of her town otherwise it will all be gone in an instant.
She needs to defeat Dougie Evans, who is very powerful,
cruel, and thoughtless. Kara is fighting a nearly impossible
battle. She has no power and almost nobody to help her in the
beginning. Her only able to get people on her side were her
missing mother and a baby dolphin.
