Preface

In the grace of Alloh swt, finally the writer has finished compiling and writing the
modul entitled, “SCHOOL LIFE ( Meeting New People, Giving Direction, Descriptive Text,
and Recount Text)”. It is submitted to make teaching learning process easier. The writer is
fully aware that it would be impossible to finish the modul without His guidance.
The writer would like to take this opportunity to express her immense gratitude to all
those persons who have given their invaluable support and assistance during writing this
thesis. In particular to the honourable:
1. Dedi Sutisna, S.Pd. I, as her beloved husband for giving support and motivation.
2. Her beloved family in Cisalak and Rajapolah
3. Drs. Aceng Mobarok, M.Pd, as her head master of SMK Nahdlatul Ulama Kota

After making the best effort for this modul, the writer realize that there must be many
weaknesses. Thus, the writer readily opens for criticism and suggestions of this modul.
Finally, the writer expects this modul wll be beneficial not only for the writer but also for the
readers.

The Writer
Tujuan dan Karakteristik Mata Pelajaran

A. Tujuan
Mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris bertujuan untuk memastikan peserta didik:
1. Mengembangkan kompetensi komunikatif dalam bahasa Inggris dengan
berbagai teks multimodal (lisan, tulisan, visual, audiovisual).
2.Mengembangkan kompetensi interkultural untuk memahami
dan menghargai perspektif, praktik, dan produk budaya Indonesia dan budaya asing.
3. Mengembangkan kepercayaan diri untuk berekspresi sebagai individu yang mandiri
dan bertanggung jawab.
4.Mengembangkan keterampilan bernalar kritis dan kreatif.

B. Karakteristik
1. Jenis teks yang diajarkan dalam bahasa Inggris umum semakin beragam, misalnya
narasi, deskripsi, eksposisi, prosedur, argumentasi, diskusi, teks khusus (pesan
singkat, iklan), dan teks asli. Beragam teks ini disajikan bukan hanya dalam bentuk
teks tulis saja, tetapi juga teks lisan (monolog atau dialog), teks visual, teks audio,
dan teks multimodal (teks yang mengandung aspek verbal, visual dan audio), baik
otentik maupun teks yang dibuat untuk tujuan pengajaran, baik tunggal maupun teks
ganda, yang diproduksi dalam kertas maupun layar. Hal ini diupayakan untuk
memfasilitasi peserta didik agar terampil menggunakan teknologi (literasi teknologi)
sehingga meningkatkan kemampuan mereka dalam menavigasi informasi digital.
2. Guru dapat menentukan jenis teks yang ingin diajarkan di kelasnya menyesuaikan
dengan kondisi di kelas. Pembelajaran dapat dimulai dari jenis teks yang sudah
dikenal oleh peserta didik untuk membantu mereka memahami isi teks yang
dibacanya dan kemudian mampu menghasilkan teks jenis tersebut dalam bentuk
lisan dan tulis. Selanjutnya, guru dapat memperkenalkan peserta didik dengan jenis
teks yang baru diketahui oleh peserta didik dan membantu mereka membangun
pemahaman terhadap jenis teks baru tersebut sehingga mampu menghasilkan karya
dalam jenis teks tersebut baik lisan dan tulis. Pemilihan jenis teks juga dapat
disesuaikan dengan kondisi yang sering dialami oleh peserta didik baik di dalam
konteks sekolah maupun konteks di rumah agar peserta didik memiliki kesempatan
untuk mempelajari dan mempraktekan teks tersebut dalam kehidupan nyata.
3. Proses belajar berfokus pada peserta didik (learner-centred) (Tyler, 1949, 1990),
yakni bahwa proses belajar harus difokuskan pada upaya mengubah perilaku peserta
didik (yang asalnya dari tidak mampu menjadi mampu), dalam menggunakan bahasa
Inggris pada enam keterampilan berbahasa dalam berbagai jenis teks.
4. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris umum difokuskan pada kemampuan berbahasa peserta
didik sesuai dengan tahapan perkembangan kemampuan berbahasa. Pembelajaran
bahasa Inggris umum mencakup elemen keterampilan reseptif (menyimak,
membaca, dan memirsa), serta keterampilan produktif (berbicara, menulis, dan
mempresentasikan).

Cara Menggunakan Modul Ajar

Cara menggunakan modul ajar ini, adalah sebagai berikut:


1. Modul ajar ini dirancang untuk membantu guru pengajar kelas 10 SMK (Fase E) yang
berada di sekolah pusat keunggulan untuk melaksanakan kegiatan di mata pelajaran
Dasar-dasar Pengambangan Perangkat Lunak dan Gim.
2. Di dalam modul ajar ini ada beberapa aktivitas yang saling berkaitan, dengan
beberapa formatif asesmen sebagai diagnostik asesmendan asesmen sumatif sebagai
ujung dari proses pembelajaran. Disarankan agar modul ajar ini dilakukan pada
semester 1, sesuai dari urutan di alur tujuan pembelajaran.
3. Waktu yang direkomendasikanuntuk pelaksanaan modul ajar ini adalah 3 kali tatap
muka dengan durasi kurang lebih 18 JP. Sebaiknya ada jeda waktu antar aktivitas agar
di satu sisi para guru mempunyai waktu yang cukup untuk melakukan persiapan
materi untuk memantik diskusi dan refleksi peserta didik. Selain itu peserta didik juga
mempunyai waktu untuk berpikir, melakukan aktivitas refleksi, dan menjalankan
masing-masing aktivitas tersebut dengan baik.

Tujuan Pembelajaran
Fase : E
Capaian Pembelajaran : Menyimak-Berbicara (Listening-Speaking)
Pada akhir fase E, peserta didik menggunakan bahasa
Inggris untuk berkomunikasi dengan guru, teman
sebaya dan orang lain dalam berbagai macam situasi
dan tujuan. Mereka menggunakan dan merespon
pertanyaan dan menggunakan strategi untuk memulai
dan mempertahankan percakapan dan diskusi. Mereka
memahami dan mengidentifikasi ide utama dan detail
relevan dari diskusi atau presentasi mengenai topik
yang dekat dengan kehidupan pemuda. Mereka
menggunakan bahasa Inggris untuk menyampaikan
opini terhadap isu yang dekat dengan kehidupan
pemuda dan untuk membahas minat. Mereka
memberikan pendapat dan membuat perbandingan.
Mereka menggunakan elemen non-verbal seperti
bahasa tubuh, kecepatan bicara, dan nada suara untuk
dapat dipahami dalam sebagian konteks.

Menulis-Mempresentasikan (Writing-Presenting)
Pada akhir fase E, peserta didik menulis berbagai
jenis teks fiksi dan non-fiksi, melalui aktivitas yang
dipandu, menunjukkan kesadaran peserta didik
terhadap tujuan dan target pembaca. Mereka membuat
perencanaan, menulis, mengulas dan menulis ulang
berbagai jenis tipe teks dengan menunjukkan strategi
koreksi diri, termasuk tanda baca dan huruf besar.
Mereka menyampaikan ide menggunakan kosa kata
dan kata kerja umum dalam tulisannya. Mereka
menyajikan informasi menggunakan berbagai mode
presentasi untuk menyesuaikan dengan
pembaca/pemirsa dan untuk mencapai tujuan yang
berbeda-beda, dalam bentuk cetak dan digital.

I  guess I ’d       better   tell you something about myself first. I’m 16 years old and      I
attend  Thomas Edison  High      School         here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I have
two brothers and two half sisters and I’m the middle child. My father died a few years ago
so my mother runs the house and the family business. My father was a barista. I have lots
of hobbies. I like music – mostly classical music and folk music – but I don’t play an
instrument. I like sports, especially tennis and basketball. At school I’m in the basketball
team and I spend most of my extra-curricular time playing basket ball. I’m into animals

II.Pronoun: Subjective, Objective & Possessive


Mempelajari Pronoun(kata ganti) sangatlah penting dan ini harus diberikan kepada anak
segera. Pronouns are words that take place of noun. Intinya pronoun adalah kata yang
menggantikan benda sehingga kita tidak mengulangi kata yang sama seperti contoh nama
seseorang.  Misalnya Rita dapat kita ganti she. Dodi dapat kita ganti he dan lain-lain.

kesan sopan sehingga orang yang kalian ajak berbicara akan merespon dengan baik. Kalian
bisa menggunakan kata-kata greetings di bawah ini:

Setelah menyampaikan greetings, kalian bisa memulai menanyakan arah (asking
directions) dengan menggunakan modal auxiliary (could, would, dll), information
questions (where, what, which, how), atau interrogative sentence (is it…, do I…). Untuk

Untuk menjawab atau memberikan arah (giving directions), kalian bisa gunakan cara di
