Speaking Exam Instructions Guide

Good morning students

Following are the instructions for the Speaking Exam. .


Your recording should be done according to the sequence of Part A, B and C in one single
audio recording of 5 minutes.
1. General Introduction (1 minute)
2. Topic for 2 minutes
3. Problem-solving task ((2 minutes )
Part A. General Introduction
Mention your name, class, stream, Roll no., aim and hobbies.In other words a brief
introduction. (about 1 minute )
Part -B.
In this part, you need to speak on the topic in sequence according to the roll no. from the list
of topics given below .
For example,Roll no.1 will speak on the first topic from the list given below, “Mobiles:A boon
or bane”
............…..
Roll no. 5 will speak on the topic, “Indian culture”
...........
Roll no.20.will speak on the topic, “ Generation gap”
Roll no.21 will start from the first topic, “ Mobiles:A boon or bane”

Part -C
In this part, you need to speak individually on the problem- solving task in sequence
according to the Roll no. from the list of tasks given below. For example,
Roll no.1 will speak on the first topic, “The food in your school canteen is unhygienic .”
Roll no.2 will speak on the second topic, “Your friend wishes to study abroad....
....................
Roll no. 10 will speak on the topic, Some of your friends dismiss the elders in their family as
being old-fashioned in their thinking and are unable to relate to them.
Roll no. 11 will again speak on the first topic ,The food in your school canteen is unhygienic.

TOPICS FOR PROBLEM SOLVING


Part: C
1. The food in your school canteen is unhygienic. Speak on
*what problems this might cause?
*What can be done to improve the quality of food served?

2. Your friend wishes to study abroad. He is very good at his subject but weak in English.
Speak on *the problems he could face at the interview
* how he could improve his speaking skills.

3. You are to work in pairs on project that involves research on the Internet. Your project
partner points out that many classmates are trying to download and use the same materials.
Speak on the value of respecting copyright and what problems could arise from disregarding
copyright rules.

4.Your classmate is an introvert who spends all his free time watching television serials.Speak
on *how you will convince him/ her to watch selected programs that would be more suitable.
*use the time for developing outdoor hobbies.

5. Your friend is very good at cricket. He has played at district and state level from
professional club. His parents are reluctant to grant him permission.Speak
*why his parents are reluctant to permit him?
*what he should do to convince his parents?

6. Your friend drives a car to school and tuitions. Convince him not to do so till he gets a
driving license.
*what are the risks involved in teenage driving?
*how you will convince him not to break the law?
7. Most of the students in your class bring junk food for tiffin or eat junk food from the school
canteen. You and your friend would like to start a campaign to promote healthy eating habits.

*what resistance you can expect to meet from the others?
*how you will go about overcoming this to make your campaign successful?

8. Your friend is not very good in Maths and is not doing well in Maths but he has opted for
Commerce with Math.Speak on
*what are the future implications?
*how will you convince him to reconsider his choice?

9. The school next door to yours has appealed to your school to donate a drinking water
system.Speak on
*how the Social Service Club of your school can raise money and involve all the students in
this project.

10. Some of your friends dismiss the elders in their family as being old-fashioned in their
thinking and are unable to relate to them. Speak on
*why you think that it is wrong?
*what you can say or do to change their attitude?

Note :
*Your ideas should be well- organized.
*Do mention your topic in the beginning of the Part B and Part C
*The approach of the answer should include the clarity and fluency with which you deliver
your topic.
*Your internal assessment for ASL will be made according to the recording submitted.
* Link to submit the recording will be forwarded in your class groups.
* While forwarding your recording do mention your Name ,Class,Roll no, Stream properly.
* Kindly ensure that the room is quiet and no disturbance should be there while recording
the speaking part.
* Recording of all three parts should be done in one audio recording only.
*Kindly wait for the link to be forwarded in the class group .Do not forward it on my number
individually.

1 minute(Introduction) + 2 minutes(Topic ) + 2 minutes(Problem -Solving Task)
