Rhodocoat polyisocyanates

for waterborne polyurethane coatings

And waterborne becomes easy!

Coatis
Rhodocoat: innovative,

As a world leader in specialty chemicals, Rhodia offers a complete range of

aliphatic diisocyanate (ADI) products and services which are continually
enhanced in response to customers’ expectations of performance, cost-
effectiveness, safety and environmental protection.

In line with our commitment towards Sustainable Development, Rhodia has been on the
forefront of waterborne technologies since 1996. Our Rhodocoat product line was
specially designed for waterborne polyurethane formulations to meet the growing need for
easy-to-use and environmentally-friendly coatings. As formulation requirements have
evolved, so has our line of products, which includes several new additions offering easier
mixing and faster drying.

• EASY MIXING: Pictures 1 and 2: Self-emulsification of Rhodocoat

no high speed mixing equipment is required
Rhodocoat products are self-emulsifying and very easy to
incorporate into waterborne coating formulations. Hand mixing
is sufficient: Rhodocoat grades do not require high-shear or
high-speed special equipment (See pictures 1 and 2).

• FAST DRYING:
better hardness and thus, improved stackability
Coatings based on Rhodocoat X EZ-D 401 show a dust free
time 25% to 60% shorter, resulting in higher efficiency in terms
of application process and less film defects (see graph 1).

Rhodocoat X EZ-D 401 also gives an improved stackability

Rhodia’s offer for 2K waterborne formulations includes
hydrophilically-modified polyisocyanates, self-emulsifiable into
water:
•Rhodocoat WT 2102,
•new APEO-free Rhodocoat EZ-M grades (EZ-M: “Easy Mixing”),
•new APEO-free Rhodocoat EZ-D (EZ-D: “Easy Drying”).
We also propose the low viscosity, hydrophobic Tolonate grades (LV types), which are especially
recommended with polyester polyols and/or in pigmented coatings.

Furthermore we offer an emulsion of blocked polyisocyanate (Rhodocoat WT 1000) for 1K-stoving coatings.
