Assessment 1
Instruction: Answer the following questions.
1. What is the relevance of ICT in your chosen course?
The area of business management, like many other fields, has undergone changes as a result of
recent advancements in information technologies. Therefore, in order to be more competitive
and react to technological advances, businesses have had to integrate all of their activities with
information and communication technologies. One of the company functions impacted by these
modifications and advancements is human resources management. The organization's
technological integration has traditionally been led by the human resources department.
The term "human resources management" (HRM) refers to the processes of hiring, developing,
and rewarding a company's workforce. The goal of human resources management should be to
make employees competitive by providing ongoing training opportunities for their personal and
professional growth.
Information and communication technologies (ICTs), including the Internet, mobile
communications, new media, and others in the field of human resources, have historically been
shown to significantly aid in the fulfillment of the organization's human resources policy. The
human resources division of a firm may be significantly impacted by technological
advancement. It enables the business to enhance its internal operations, core competencies,
target markets, and overall organizational design.
2. Name at least 4 uses of ICT in our daily lives and explain.
1. E-learning is a sort of online learning that involves the learner using a computer to learn an
activity, skill, or process. Students can learn in a group setting by participating in videos,
e-books, forums, blogs, and online courses. Students can also email their teachers with
inquiries. In educational settings, projectors or digi-class are utilized to teach students.
2. Cost - Saving
Businesses can utilize ICT to run their operations in an effort to cut costs so they can sell their
products more easily and engage in more competitive rivalry. Since multiple businesses can
work together to exchange information automatically, there is no need to specifically include
other people. Automated equipment can take the role of manual labor to expedite production
and guarantee high quality.
3. As Shopping/Commerce: Online shopping includes e-commerce. It uses technology like
inventory management systems, automated data collection systems, online transaction
processing, and electronic money transfers. Activities related to buying and selling are
facilitated, sped up, and accelerated by the use of computers, the internet, and shared
software. ICT helped firms grow their income while lowering operating expenses. We may
choose from a range of products from many different countries and buy whatever we want
whenever we want without really visiting there. We can buy the products online if we have a
safe payment method. Product advertising is also made possible by ICT.
4. Elimination of Time Limitations
ICT can assist a person or business in offering round-the-clock customer service. They can
manage their business without being limited by time. By visiting an ATM, bank customers can
withdraw money whenever they want. Tellers are not required to be paid by banks even if they
work nonstop for 24 hours.
