Three New Waterslides Increase The Fun Factor at World Waterpark

Three new extreme waterslides have opened at World Waterpark in West Edmonton Mall, including Canada's first indoor looping waterslide called Cyclone. The slides were manufactured by Whitewater West Industries and feature electronic launch systems that drop riders down the slides at speeds up to 60 km/h. Cyclone stands 25.9 meters tall and includes a near-vertical 17-meter drop and looping element. Two replacement slides called Sky Screamer Extreme are open and enclosed designs that also launch riders electronically up to 60 km/h. The new slides represent over $1.5 million in investments and are said to take thrill-seeking to a new level.

Three new waterslides increase the fun factor at World Waterpark

EDMONTON, ALTA. There are now three more ways to have fun at West Edmonton Mall. Three waterslides
have opened in World Waterpark, bringing a whole new level of thrill to the park. Heights, speed, near-vertical
drops even a near-vertical loop are delighting adrenaline junkies looking for a unique adventure.
World Waterparks three new slides are manufactured by Whitewater West Industries, of Richmond, B.C., and
each features an electronic launch system. Sliders step into a glass capsule and, after an automated voice
counts down from three, the floor drops from beneath them, sending them on their journey. All three slides are
classified as extreme thrill waterslides.
World Waterparks Cyclone, the first waterslide of its kind in Canada and the first Aqualoop slide to be installed
indoors anywhere in North America, offers both the unexpected drop plus a vertical loop. After the floor
releases from beneath them, a slider plummets 17 metres straight down, as fast as 60 km / h, before arching
upward into a near-vertical loop and blazing out into a splashdown lane.
Cyclone, which stands 25.9 metres high, is purple in colour and is discernible by the vertical loop hanging in the
air in the park. It is an addition to World Waterparks many attractions.
Two Sky Screamer Extreme waterslides replace the former two red Sky Screamer slides that were in the park
and, as their name suggests, offer more excitement. While both have the electronic launch system, the blue
slide is enclosed from start to finish while the yellow slide is open. Standing above the park at 23.47 metres, the
Sky Screamer Extreme slides are built for speed and can carry sliders as fast as 60 km / h.
World Waterparks new waterslides represent an investment of more than $1.5 million into the park.
These slides are unmatched anywhere. They are unique to our facility and take the thrill factor in World
Waterpark to a whole new level, said West Edmonton Mall General Manager Stacey Claffey. Waterslide
enthusiasts, especially those who like extreme adventure, will have incredible experiences every visit.
