1. Experiment Name: Determination of Unknown node voltage of a
D.C. circuit and verify it by Nodal analysis method.
2. Objective:
Voltage is the potential difference of two terminal in a system. Voltage is supplied by
voltage source. In a system, voltage is same for paranal connection but it is different
for series connection. In this experiment, two voltage sources have been used. One is
variable voltage source and another is fixed 5V voltage source.
3. Connection diagram:

4. EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED: -
1.Variable D.C. power supply
2. Resistor: 3x 1KΩ
3. Connecting wire
4. Multimeter
5. Project Board
6. Ammeter

5. Experiment Data:
VA = E1 Error = VB
Sl VB
(Volt) VB (Calculated) (Measured)- VB
no (Measured)
(Calculated)
1 6 3.70 3.67 0.03
2 8 4.38 4.33 0.05
3 10 5.06 5.00 0.06
4 12 5.73 5.67 0.06
5 14 6.41 6.33 0.08
6. Result:
The average error value is 0.056V. It is almost ignorable. For the first case, we get
3.70V for measured from the circuit and the calculated voltage is 3.67V.
7. Mathematical Calculation:
For the above circuit,
(VB / R2) = ((EA - VB) / R1) + ((EB - VB) / R3)
Value of all the resistors used in the circuit is 1K ohm. Simplifying the circuit:
VB = (VA + VC) / 3
Now, for the 6V source:
VB = (6+5) / 3 = 3.67V (Calculated)
8. Discussion:
In this experiment, we have measured the value of the resistor using the voltmeter and
the value is almost same for calculated value. The value of error is ignorable. And the
unknowne node voltage has been determined.
